patches689: My fathers best mate was with the 25 pounders outside Luanda.

They took bets on wether or not they would be given the order to "go all the way" (he lost)
The only thing protecting Luanda was a battery of MRLS operated by Cubans which could've been destroyed by air strikes,if SA wanted to really capture the city.

patches689: Nope those 10 South African attack helicopters have been proven, in combat, to be superior.

And we actually have 10, not an imaginary number of 40 TRANSPORTS

You guys cant even afford Super-Hinds for godsakes

Reminder: We make better Hinds than Nigeria can afford to buy
we actually have 11 Rooivalks and use them like a professional military.

Henry120: Keep laughing, terrorist. angryangry

agaugust: Whose flag flies over South Africa today? ANC defeated South African military. Case Closed grin grin
.
ANC couldn't fight the SADF,they simply didn't have the manpower, resources and training. So they had to resort to terrorism, but after 94 MK operatives were absorbed into SANDF meaning out defence is knowledgeable about terrorism from planning, execution and how to counter it. Who's the winner now? grin cheesy cheesy grin cheesy shocked tongue tongue tongue
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 3:54pm On Aug 30, 2014
agaugust: Nope, South Africa's goal was to rule Angola like Namibia. You just reminded me, Namibia too defeated South Africa
.
If South Africa wanted that,it could've simply deploy ground attack planes, bombers and more troops to finish MPLA and capture Luanda during operation Savannah,South African troops could see streets lights of the capital.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 3:50pm On Aug 30, 2014
agaugust: Okay according to your own logic, the political settlement with Cuba of the Bush War that kept Angola free from South African power expansion is therefore a.k.a complete victory for Angola and complete defeat for South Africa
.
South Africa kept Southern Angola to UNITA and protected them if threatened.

denisfidha: mike.
SANDF always has nice pics from thier training fields. do they have a department just for that or something...
They're mostly taken during exercises, the defence force invites media after exercises to demonstrate its capability. You'll see more pics after this year's exercise Seboka.

Henry120: You connived with the terrorists. You posted the terrorist videos. You helped the terrorists spread their propaganda.

In the terrorist video you joyfully posted on nairaland, 8 troops tops were over-ran by over 300 terrorists armed with 14.5mm, 50 calibers, PKM's and RPG's.

It is conflict.

The british had to beg the taliban for safe passage after they were over-ran in helmand province, afghanistan.

The terrorists you spread their propaganda on nairaland have and continue to feel the wrath of the nigerian military even into chad, niger and cameroun.

Nigeria is battling insurgents from mali-algeria - CAR (your SANDF ran away from).
They couldn't call for help, because your generals have failed them. SANDF soldiers never ran from any battle, they took their ground with great determination and protected their base. Unless you're brain washed, and not an independent thinker. You won't follow the "enemy pattern".
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 6:02pm On Aug 29, 2014
Henry120: Your opinion is no longer relevant. Just in case you don't know, this is your south-africa.

Nigeria isn't the only country battling terrorism, the U.S has been battling terrorists for more than 20 years.

Russia, above 15 years
China
India, 20+ years
Turkey, 20+ years

Terrorism is a global problem.
BH has embarrassed your military in combat many times and holds territory.

craziebone: i wonder why we are not buying frigates, corvettes and destroyers.
Destroyers? Would similar to me asking why isn't South Africa buying aircraft carriers. Totally unnecessary. Nigeria needs subs, frigates, amphibious assault ships and corvettes.

Oh my God !

What a beautiful confession after 4 years of arguing on this nairaland thread !

A South African military officer finally admits that South African billion dollar navy needs help from Nigerian navy...wow !

Submarine blue water navy on her knees begging Nigerian navy for help....sweet music I must dance today o !

Who has the strongest military in Africa after Egypt?

Nigeria ! [/size]

.
From that map you can see Northern Angola is closer to Nigeria than Cape town.

sirjerry: And yet they did not even when they have a reason to do so.
Nope, nuclear weapons are more of "deterrent weapons". Similar to Main battle tanks today.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 6:07pm On Aug 28, 2014
Thiza: THESE ARE SOUTH AFRICAN NUCLEAR BOMBS TO THOSE NAIRAS THAT HAVE NEVER SET AN EYE ON THE PRODUCT
South Africa could go ahead back then and start throwing this devilish weapons at Nigeria. Reducing Abuja to radiation ash.

Henry120: Real life photos say yes.
I can take such picture too here in SA. Geography still says "NO" to your claims.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 5:55pm On Aug 28, 2014
Henry120: It confirms what we have been saying all along. The N.E is a semi-arid/ desert region, cold desert air, with a mountainous terrain.

The nigeria north-east is very dry, except for a few handful of months of the year. That photo shows a niger-delta vegetation, which is rainy, wet and swampy.
Geography says "NO".
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 5:51pm On Aug 28, 2014
agaugust: That Nigerian artillery used in Damboa is a year 2000 product M56 Yugoslav made artillery with almost 20km range for a 105mm gun !

South Africa has NOTHING in that class and modernity, Nigeria has 200 units of it.

You seem not to have a good education that tells you the difference between 1960 and year 2,000.

High school drop out ;P
.
The G7 105mm howitzer deployed by the SANDF school of artillery has a range of 32km,should I post pictures again? Did you even know the SANDF has a lot of captured artillery pieces? tongue tongue tongue tongue. It is nothing but a relic.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 5:47pm On Aug 28, 2014
agaugust: Your ICBM never flew, it is a metal junk museum piece. If you launch a missile, you cannot display the same missile in a museum, it's gone for ever.

Fact is, Soweto's dummy ICBM never ever flew tongue
.
I can go to a SAAF museum and take more picture of rocket launchers, bombs& missiles and you'll foolis..hly say we never used the types. I can also go to a SAN museum and find a submarine.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 5:36pm On Aug 28, 2014
agaugust: Wow ! South African air force was tied to a tree like a goat, when Nigerian military power was called in by Angola to carry out force projection operation inside your SADC defense zone. SANDF cannot even rescue itself, Angola cried to Nigeria for help, and we saved them inside your SADC tongue

.
Northern Angola is closer to Nigeria than Cape Town. There's no point of calling SA to rescue a vessel in northern Angola. When we are called to for SAR miracles happen, remember this > news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/662472.stm

Henry120: North-east

Now spot the difference dummy, Patches689 and Mike.ZA.

Have fun lying to yourselves. You gonna soon receive a nobel price for lying.
That picture shows it wasn't taken this spring,as one can see the long grass there meaning during spring and summer the grass grows longer in that area. And also contradicts what you've been claiming earlier.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 4:20pm On Aug 28, 2014
patches689: ask and you shall receive

Pic 1 is of them being escorted back over the border
The second picture is heartbreaking LOOOL.

Henry120: You keep posting the same shit over and over again.

It doesn't however change this fact

I'm going to brutalise you today online mike.

"Unfortunately, the SANDF is already sitting with an array of expensive hardware that it cannot deploy, either because it lacks the skilled crews –" because it can’t afford the running costs."

"South Africa has the oldest infantry troops in the world"

"the 2012 Defence Review, says the SANDF is “critically deficient in the skill, motivation, and ethos that is required to operate"

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF), which should be saving lives, is becoming an "armed welfare service which is saving jobs,"

"We are spending too much on personnel, we are spending too little on operations and we are spending much too little on capital acquisition,"
This was evidenced by more than half the defence budget (R20.4 billion) going to personnel costs.

tated unambiguously that the SANDF was in a state of decline characterised by force imbalance between capabilities, ageing technology, and unaffordability of many of its main operating systems.

This, together with new equipment, training from the Americans and British, innovative technology and a careful collection of evidence is beginning to show results. But it is an uphill battle.

You also receive trainings and equipment from the british and americans.

Pathetic HIV ridden defence force.

patches689: SADF is the SANDF because the SADF BECAME the SANDF

Yes the bush war was 20 years ago.. a 18 or 17 year old soldier who fought back then is how old now? HE IS THE PREFECT AGE FOR A SENIOR NCO OR OFFICER!!

We dont lack experience.

It is you whom lacks experience.
All soldiers from the homelands defence forces and freedom movements, were evaluated by the SADF before integration. After judging their skills, knowledge, experience, qualifications etc a perfect rank would be awarded.

patches689: We have had 1 strike by off duty soldiers

Your men do not have MGLs or AGLs in common service

Those posts mean nothing, most are from a opinion peace - and when you post them we know we have you by the short and curlys

Beegeagle is a propaganda peice, his information is worth as much as the p1ss that comes out of my cock
we can't really say it was "strike",since the soldiers weren't on duty. It was just a protest.
