Hello nairalanders, please am a 1st time dad so would be needing suggestions from Parents and caregivers, my son is a year and 10 months old, but very energetic, he makes me afraid most times to come back home, he always headbutts me, so very painful but he doesn't feel any pain whatsoever, he loves to play very rough play with me and his mom, but I think his mom have some tolerance levels to his play, he is always slapping, climbing and dancing on my groin, very painful most times, and always landing me hot slaps most especially when he is angry or his mom went out without his knowledge, he is a very wonderful kid and fun to be with, he is a blessing to us, my fears is that he shouldn't turn out to be a bully as he appears stronger and energetic than most kids his age and above.
How do I tame him to prevent him from always hitting his parents? I asked my wife about his activities at school and she told me he isn't a bully but always super active at school, I am a very calm guy but my dad told me I was that way when I was a child his age, that helped but the issue of headbutting and slapping me is really a source of concern for me.

Having a kid of that age who is energetic is good but the headbutting and slapping are challenging behaviours you and your wife must be on the same page to correct.

His "coping mechanism" of slapping you when he is angry or his mother went out without his knowledge, is very unhealthy. You both have to teach him how to keep his hands to himself and instill in him that hitting others is very wrong, whenever he acts out those challenging behaviours, mete out age appropriate discipline.

If he is not corrected at this stage, he would normalize such behaviours and a bully is being raised. There is a need to nip any possible early-onset of conduct disorder in him.......else the coming years will not be funny at all as I have worked in a child and adolescent psychiatric clinic where one of our "clients" is a 4 year old boy who within one academic year has been enrolled into 3 different schools, as school administrators told his parents never to bring him back their schools.

I got married 2020 and did the court Marriage last month. My husband has been a wonderful husband and by God's grace I have been a wonderful wife and a mother. We have one child.
The issue I'm having in my marriage is anger management. When ever my husband gets angry, he says all sorts of things to me, like leave my house, you are a bad wife, different sorts of insults of which whenever we reconcile he apologizes sometimes.
He's the type that no matter the good things you do, once he gets annoyed, he abuse you verbally of which really hurts me. Last month we had an argument that resulted to a fight, her beat me like his fellow man and locked me out and ask me to leave his house. Neighbors intervened and we settled.
Something happened today. He came back home around 2.am this morning instead of the usual 11-12pm he usually arrive home. I wasn't happy, he tried to explain but I knew he was lying because my sister in-law already called one of his friends before he came back. So I wasn't happy with him but I didn't make trouble with him. So this morning I drank aju mbaise and hot drink on empty stomach, so it was affecting me and making me want to faint. So it happened that he was giving me money for something this morning but I felt like fainting so I threw the money on the floor and quickly fell on the bed. After few minutes, I regained myself and got up, all the while my husband never cared to know what the problem was. I got up and asked him for the money, he started shouting and insulting me that why will I trow money on the floor for him. I tried to explain to him what Happened, he never cared to listen. He started insulting me, saying I will leave his house, that he can't continue with the marriage, that he will kill me. Note, it's not the first time he has threatened to kill me. I don't know what to do. His family members have talked to him about this his attitude about marriage but he gets worse. Pls I need advice because this his "leave my house" and threat all the time is too much. Little issue that couples have and settle, my husband always make it a big deal. If he annoys me and I get annoyed and refuse to talk to him, he will vex and start insulting me and threatening me. Pls I need your advice, what do you think I should do? how can I change him because I don't want my marriage to crash?, we have a daughter and u wouldn't want her to grow in a divided home. Thanks

Also have a relative here in the UK, she is a postgraduate student and it has been confirmed after some tests, she has fibroids by the consultant gynaecologist and a surgery had been scheduled for 1st August but she requested it be shifted to October, so she can concentrate on her dissertation though the consultant gynaecologist said it will be done within 10mins and she would be discharged same day, that she can also resume work after 24hrs.

Even the consultant anaesthetist called her thing morning as part of the pre operative assessment, which was aimed at preparing her mentally for the surgery and how the consultant anaesthetist would help her manage the pain throughout her short stay in the hospital.

I believe your mum would get good treatment, the earlier the better.

I believe if a local business will be smart enough to come up with what we have here in the UK, called stonebaked pizza. It is pizza mass produced, frozen and sold cheaper in supermarkets and stores, you buy the flavour and size you want, get home and oven cook it for about 15mins.....pizza is ready!
