But what will be your reaction if on final match day, Steven Gerrard celebrates with Coutinho (tears in their eyes) on his winner against Man City. Both men finally did what they couldn't in 2014.
Anfield erupts, the media is engulfed, congratulatory messages to Gerrard. Coutinho proving himself a liverpool hero even after leaving the club since 2018.

They are not necessarily proven box office wise, so it's a tough sale. Maybe my bias tho. cheesy
In terms of their projects various factors usually comes into play. Not something just simple.
Bro, na Scarjo. No doubt about it. Gadot can't hold a franchise on her own yet, with her being the only star in it. She sure would pull an audience but if she's to compete against Johanson, she will crash in the box office. But things can change after some years.

Henry Cavill is an A-list Star alright. undecided
There are different kind of A-list artists. Some who are huge box office draws and some who their talent, works and reputation defines them. And there are some, the dying breed who got all specs.

Just like the Demon Slayer TV show, I'll divide it thus: Upper Class A-list & Lower Class A-list. Cavill belongs to the later.

The Witcher is a BIG franchise. You might not know it before u saw Cavill but it is. It's like saying Game of Thrones won't be big enough to sell itself if Cavill didn't join. It will be big nonetheless so far it's done well, over a period of time. That was how GOT built itself even tho literally everyone was an unknown back then.

The Witcher already had a substantial fantasy following with the books. The gaming audience already made it way more popular and successful.
So no. Whether Cavill was in it or not it would still be BIG eventually. His appearance serves as a plus and big promotion but not the sole cause of its success.
GOT had some top draws when it started though. You can't compare it with Legend of the seeker. LOTS had a big fan base with the sword of truth books but couldn't get into the market cause it hadn't a star power. Yes, I agree the Witcher is big franchise with the games and books, but do you think it will have same success it has now if the lead was an unknown along with it's supporting cast? Cavill is what attracts and keeps audience, Lord of the rings may not have done well had A lists not being in it.
Do you know that there are popular franchise with big fan base that end up not doing well cause they don't have that star pull? Check Death note.
How to get away with murder, may not have been that much famous had Viola Davis and some stars not been in it.

But the thing is, Suicide Squad was meant to be a secret program, so how will that be possible if they're public considering the controversies, both International and national, that will cause.

Besides, doesn't that rule out the objective of the Suicide Squad, which is to carry out dirty operations for the US government?

For me, I think, they'll only be rebranded. For the meantime, the govt will put a stop to it but when the need for who to carry out their dirty jobs arises, they will have no choice but to revive it but under another monicker for e.g, like a special ops Dept of ARGUS, with Amanda Waller of course in charge
Or
The US govt will just deny and cover up the allegations
Or
The Flashpoint might erase that particular event, I'm not talking about the entire Peacemaker event but that particular Task Force X exposure event.

Who knows, till post Flashpoint or then but there's a lot of possibilities.

#DCian
This thing has happened before in the comics. It's a progression. The government will deny it or throw Waller to the bus but Task force x will still go on. They are the government's puppet. They might end up calling them checkmate but with superheroes on it's list ( superheroes created by the government)
It could go either ways but I know for sure that task force x will be back.

abduleez1:
I know of all these u saying. But that's how industry generally works. Big screen pays more. Besides the big reason you are seeing big stars who have no TV background doing series is cos of big money streaming networks.
The key point is how many TV actors get paid big bucks as much as their movie counterparts.

Besides, actors and actresses who gets those big pays have usually created a name for themselves in the TV industry. They're powerhouses there already. Eg, Reese Witherspoon, Jenifer Aniston, Meryl Streep etc.
Reese and Aniston was paid $20mn for The Morning Show. And these are usually projects that heavily relies on the actor's popularity.

Note: TV also loosely refers to shows these days streaming or not. Besides most shows worth watching now (asides reality TV) with huge popularity is usually affiliated with streamers.

The Witcher is a different ballgame. It's Big already. A franchise, so Cavill's star power while it helps or improves the show's success doesn't necessarily dictates it's success.

There are some BIG actors you'll bring from TV and drop them as leads for huge blockbusters that might fail cos of a slight shift from audiences.
Although streaming is changing the narrative these days.
I don't think you are grasping what I am trying to say. Cavill is a household name, though far from being an A Lister. Small screen pays less, sure but when it comes to top draws, people whose face brings audiences, they tend to get a higher pay. Check how much Sam L Jackson was paid for to appear in agents of shield, as a cameo appearance and guest.
Now, Netflix isn't a tv series but a streaming platform, for Cavill to sign the contract that makes his face a property of the platform, he should be paid more than that. Cause, he is the big sell or top draw of the series. He isn't an unknown. So my guess is, for such contracts to be signed, there has to be added bonuses and the 8 mil thing is just for shooting the series. Or perhaps we are reading what they want us to read.
I am not denying that tv shows pay less. Of course. But when it comes to having a known movie star in big grossing films appear on a TV show, they get a higher pay cause of what they attract. And Netflix isn't a tv series platform so we don't get off topic.

Modified: If the Witcher franchise was big enough to sell itself, Netflix won't have cast Cavill in the role. There are lots of people who got on it cause of his name.
Sword of truth was a best seller, but how come it didn't do well as a tv show?

Why is this one still arguing? The guy you quoted is right, small screen contracts/deals are generally less lucrative than silver screen deals.
Witcher isn't a tv series, and yes, I know small screen is small, now if this one could see from my response where I said, some actors receive more than that sum especially for being the face of the series and having a higher profile to draw big audiences.
I am very sure this one didn't read what I commented before jumping into the talk. Gracias, this one.

One thing to note, TV shows don't pay as much as blockbuster movies or studio projects.

That's why it was nicknamed the "small screen".
Still, he can't control huge payouts with the likes I mentioned above.
Bros, there are actors making huge banks on TV. It takes time shooting series than most films. In fact the reason why movies pay higher is because of theatrical returns. But there are those cashing out big on tv and come to think of it, it isn't exactly tv but web series on a streaming platform. If Cavill is paid 8 mil for it despite all the merchandising sponsorship and audience pull, then he is under paid. Unless, 8 mil is just for filming, and other returns are included.

So with Leota Adebayo exposing the Task Force X program, does this mean bye bye to the Suicide Squad Franchise?

Nope. It just means they're now in the spotlight, and if done right, we may end up getting a JL vs suicide squad movie or a Cadmus storyline with Waller trying to take down the JL alongside some corrupt politicians. I mean, peace maker could be setting up some interesting storyline ahead.

Don't know about the poor pay u talking about man. But all editorials I've read all year has said the pay was really lucrative.
The problem in net worth might be how much you think Cavill's talent is worth. I still don't think he can control really big pays as "True A-list artists" do. Robert Downey, Tom Cruise, Gal Gadot, Meryl Street, Dwayne Johnson or Ryan Reynolds. Etc.
Although he got about $14mn for MOS and about $20mn for Josstice League.

If deal is true, them might have to do with "Franchise Films" as opposed other tangent brands.

Yep. Enola Holmes 2 is a Netflix project. It's filmed already and about to debut in a few months time.
Of course Cavill can command a big pay. He just needs to be in movies, and keep hoping they do well in the box office, and he gets critical acclaim in them.
If he was paid 8 mil overall for Witcher, that isn't lucrative enough. Especially for a personality like his. He is the one selling that series.

Lol, I don't think he will prioritize marvel any time soon cause if he keeps bringing WB the money, he will hang around. WB as we know offer job security in a way.

Fact checked:

It's about $1mn per episode. That amounts to over $8mn for Witcher S2. That's a very lucrative sum for a TV show in its infancy. Earned 400k previously.

We don't know the details of the contract or whether that rumor is true.

But I heard cos of that huge Witcher sum he demanded higher from WB and peeps didn't like that. undecided
That's poor on his end. Considering actors like him get paid 15 mil as from their next sequel in the franchise. If he's paid 8 mil, which is relatively small and he's demanding above 15 mil if true, then he goes on to sign that Netflix contract (if true), I think he might be the one to regret it. Unless the contract is only for Witcher merchandize. And not Cavill as an actor. Cause if it is, it means he can no longer be a brand ambassador for Huawei or appear in ads and films while doing Witcher or other Netflix projects. But he is filming enola Holmes sequel if I am not mistaken. Is that one owned by Netflix?

I think I heard he's paid about 10-20 million. I don forget the exact amount jare but it's pretty lucrative. The biggest he's had and renegotiated for more in S2.
If it's 20 mill or in that rank, that's low for that kind of contract obligation. Cause it can ruin his career in a way if he is prevented from appearing in other projects. People may become reluctant to cast him in the future.

During TSS filming Kevin Feige was on set watching as things go. I ain't surprised about this. Besides most DC and MCU executives have cordial relationship between themselves.
Zack Snyder sef was the one who recommended a fight choreographer for Gunn in TSS I think.

The only peeps I see having issues with each other are Disney and WB execs.
But to me, I hope it has a limit cause we want diverse contents not the same stuff every time. And this mixing may affect ideas and copying.

Na that nonsense I no understand. undecided

Come to think of it, since when Cavill Joined the Witcher na only Sherlock Holmes from Netflix I don see am in. Anybody remember other films he's been in asides Netflix?

Although I think maybe the face thing is cos Netflix got a brand they need to sell — The Witcher. Another iconic role Cavill is known for is as Superman. So prolly have those two side to side makes for some conflict of interest. huh

Na to look deep get the full info of this thing.
Lol, like seriously, I really need to understand the thing. Unless they are paying Cavill 50 mill for each season, I don't see how they would own his face, cause that means he can't promote other brands, ads without copyright. In essence, Cavill can't even use his face the way he wants to. That's slavery.
