This is actually the most ethical and empathetic thing to do - it's the right thing. But it might never happen. I could remember in the wake of the Bernie Maddof scandal, companies who had earlier collected their investments with profit returned all such profit to a fund meant to indemnify "investors" who had lost all their money. |
I don't understand why SEC or CBN hasn't clamped down their activities. Hasn't anyone petitioned the EFCC or police? It is beyond me how grown people with brains still fall for these schemes. If the ROI is too good to be true and they aren't transparent about their business that's a red flag. Heck I don't trust anyone with my money, not even bank-backed mutual funds. |
Were they expecting the police to detain him perpetually? The law is the law. He is innocent until he has his day in a court of competent jurisdiction. All this media trial get as e be, dem go turn judge, jury and executioner on top person case when they don't even know the details. |

I always look forward to topics like this. Takes you away from the stark tragedy that is Nigeria. ![]() |
zabimaru:True. It might be his preference, no one can berate him for that. It's just that I have very little confidence in the quality control of aftermarket parts like this, especially unbranded ones. |
PAQ:Seriously overpriced. Considering that it's not OEM, even if it had all those bells and whistles, there's a limit to the amount of useful info and functionality that it can provide. So, in other words, there's no difference between this and a cheaper screen - even though the OP thinks otherwise. I'd go with stock OEM any day. |

Old man Bernie is gone to the grave. Crime doesn't pay, this guy lost everything including his family. Sad end. |
thebosstrevor1:Please read online, it was public knowledge during the judicial panels that was set up after #endsars. https://punchng.com/policemen-paid-bribes-for-posting-to-sars-ogili-ex-sergeant/ |
thebosstrevor1:Really, so you have to choose to go for the training then. So you agree that he wasn't just posted, he had a choice. |
thebosstrevor1:Yes, you had to bribe you way in. |
thebosstrevor1:Exactly what I'm saying. That's what article 1F of the Refugee Convention states; he cannot be deemed a refugee because of that. And your earlier statement is false; a policeman wouldn't just get "posted" to SARS when it was still in existence. I know for a fact that many had to bribe their way into the squad because it was deemed as juicy. So he most likely had a choice. |
thebosstrevor1:You're not serious. Please what does SARS do, babysit people? The precedent has been set by an earlier judgement. Let me do you a favor by putting an excerpt here: Immigration law — Convention refugees — Complicity in crimes against humanity — Former representative of the Democratic Republic of Congo seeking refugee protection in Canada — Immigration and Refugee Board rejecting claim for refugee protection on grounds that representative was complicit in crimes against humanity committed by the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo — Whether mere association or passive acquiescence are sufficient to establish complicity — Whether a contribution‑based test for complicity should be adopted — Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, S.C. 2001, c. 27, s. 98 — United Nations Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, Can. T.S. 1969 No. 6, art. 1F(a).He's complicit because SARS has a record of abusing people and he was part of SARS. You don't need anymore evidence than that, that's what their Act states. You can read up on the full judgement. Ezokola v. Canada (Citizenship and Immigration), 2013 SCC 40, [2013] 2 S.C.R. 678 |
thebosstrevor1:Do you just find comprehension hard or what? They stated the legal precedents that determined the course of their decision; A finding that Mr. Popoola engaged in crimes against humanity does not require proof that he personally tortured detainees — which he denies. Rather, his contribution to the organization’s crimes must be assessed according to the test laid out by the Supreme Court of Canada in Ezokola v Canada (Citizenship and Immigration), 2013 SCC 40, [2013] 2 SCR 678 [Ezokola].What they are saying is that he has arrested people and handed them over to SARS - even if he didn't torture them someone did so he's just as culpable. If he feels so aggrieved; he should appeal. Being that there's already a precedent, his chances are slim. |
thebosstrevor1:He personally detained people and handed them over to be tutored, or did he not? Please read this portion slowly: The main part of the ID’s decision is devoted to the issue of whether Mr. Popoola made a knowing and significant contribution to the SARS’s criminal activity. A finding that Mr. Popoola engaged in crimes against humanity does not require proof that he personally tortured detainees — which he denies. Rather, his contribution to the organization’s crimes must be assessed according to the test laid out by the Supreme Court of Canada in Ezokola v Canada (Citizenship and Immigration), 2013 SCC 40, [2013] 2 SCR 678 [Ezokola]. In this regard, the ID considered that Mr. Popoola voluntarily joined the Nigerian Police Force; that he spent five years with the SARS, a unit known for being especially brutal; that he admitted knowing about the prevalence of torture and mistreatment of detainees in the organization, although he tried to minimize its scope in his testimony; and that he resigned for personal reasons, not because he learned of human rights abuses. As to his contribution to the organization’s crimes, the ID concluded as follows:TL;DR - They take human right abuses seriously, they don't need proof that you took part in such offense as long as you work with an organization that abuses the rights of people. |
thebosstrevor1:Your analogy is off. It is more like being denied visa because you worked as tech support for ISIS or ISWAP. You might claim that you didn't commit any crime but the fact that you worked for that org and helped to further their objectives makes your hands just as bloody. |

saphiere: ![]() Drag who in courts? Because your lawyers will be working pro bono and his won't? Mistakes are mistakes, the best thing to do will be to move on. This is another reason to flee from pre-marital relations, sex can't keep anyone - man or woman. If she had never slept with this guy, she'd feel less cheated. |
I understand that fraud, most especially cyber-fraud, is damaging to the country's image. But it might be a stretch to say that it causes inflation. I think we overestimate the population of these fraudsters. Hear this, I think the amount of money diverted from the government coffers into private pockets should bother the author of these article more. |

perkyB:Hi, I would personally recommend Mycelium, it's open source and reproducible and you can backup your wallet to restore on another device. If you're really, really, really paranoid. You could write a program to generate a bitcoin key pair (public & private key) or downloaded an audited one from Github and run it on an offline machine. |
CITEH:I'm not sure of Binance, I'm a bit skeptical about online exchanges so I hold all my coins offline. I use Electrum Wallet on pc and Ledger Hardware wallet. Coinomi and Mycelium on Android should have that feature. |
GeneralPula:What the scammer did was to monitor the address for incoming transactions and claim it as his. To someone inexperienced as the OP's employee the foul play will not be noticed till after the real sender informs you of his transfer. To the OP, please always generate a new address when receiving funds, you can find tools that do this for you for free. |
