I don't understand why people see polytechnics as inferior versions of universities. It is the solvent that moves not the solute. It diffuses from an area of lower concentration solution (higher concentration of water) to an area of higher concentration solution(lower concentration of water) until both solutions are isotonic.

Higher concentration here means a higher solute concentration and lower concentration means inversely the same.
