It is not a global issue...NOT for whites anyway, China and India may have an already sizable population but they are not prone to having several wives and minimum 5-6 kids like blacks.

The most irresponsible race are BLACKS anywhere you find them. Nigeria happens to be one of the worst culprits and they never learn!
China and India make up 3 billion people out from a global number of 7 billion. The other large Asian countries such as Indonesia, Pakistan and Bangladesh all have populations of over 150 million and those numbers continue to rise. In total the Asian populace comes to 4.4 billion, that's more than half the world's population.

Therefore it is a global issue. And men in Pakistan and Bangladesh may indeed have multiple wives. Likewise Indonesia.

And how can 'blacks' be the most irresponsible when it is Indian subcontinent that is the most overcrowded? Africa is a huge continent with under 1 billion people. India is smaller landmass but has a bigger population - who is being irresponsible here?

Africa is just under 1 billion.

I repeat, lack of family planning and overpopulation is black man's problem!

And illiterates like you are not helping to create awareness of the problem
Where did I say that it is not a problem?

You're calling me illiterate but you can't even understand what is being written?

I asked a simple question and you failed to read between the lines, instead you took it personally.

Nor do you have the sense to look back to see that I've said thing about reckless breeding habits. The only difference is that I am acknowledging that it is a global issue that uninformed people make.

You are not serious, China is filled with smart people, innovators, people who use farming, alternate diversified economic models to survive (regardless of leadership) - YET (yes YET) despite being 2nd largest economy in the world their nearly 2 billion population still has extensive poverty!

India is a 4th world country despite its economic successes, population explosion means there is not enough to go round.

I beg SHUT UP! Opinions like yours contributes to lack of family planning and overpopulation!
You said that overpopulation is the "black man's problem" - are the Chinese or Indians 'black'?

You forget that both Obasanjo and Buhari have both had two chances as head of state and did very little with Buhari being the worst head of state in Nigeria history.

These are not the people who will pull people forward - it's not even about party politic with these two it is about competence, ideas and the ability to work within a democratic framework. Neither of these two is able to grasp democratic ideas, they both veer towards abuse of power.

And how do you 'fight corruption' without investigating Obasanjo? Or the various elements in the North East who have allowed Boko Haram to become a viable source of hope for the people in that region?

Can we all try and remember just one kidnap case that was resolved in just about three days during Jonathan's regime? I am doing a research on that. I remember Chimamanda Ngozi's father was kidnapped, Ngozi Okonjo-Iwealla's father or mother or both were kidnapped, Mikel Obis's father too was kidnapped. How long did it take to get them released?
El-Rufai is happy to pay criminals as we've seen in the case of the Fulani herdsmen who go on killing sprees and are rewarded for their misdeeds.

Why are you blaming GEJ and not the various governors who refused to make their states safe? Why are you pretending that kidnapping only became a problem under GEJ's tenure when it has been a problem in Lagos under Buhari and was an issue under Yar'adua and OBJ.

Politics › Re: 6 Critical Reasons Why Northern Nigeria Remains The Poorest - Sen. Shehu Sani by mmsen: 12:09am On Feb 26, 2017
oluamid:
There's actually a difference between using Arabic to teach and Islamic education. I concede though that majority of what they do in Northern Nigeria is Islamic education which is based on the Koran.

All countries use the resources they have to achieve their ends and you can't fault the Arab world for exploiting their oil and gas. Most of the scientific developments we have in the west today was based off what Arab scholars achieved so its not as if the Arabs too have been slacking.

The problem with Africa generally and Northern Nigeria specifically is that we seem to have taken everything bad those who gave us their religions had while leaving out the good.
I don't fault the Arabs for using their resources I do however fault the northerners for refusing to exploit theirs using modern technology.

As to your point about taking the good points from the religions - if we did that there would be little or no religious division because the values that are good are universal. Respecting your environment and your fellow man is not particular to any one religion. Cleanliness is not particular to religion. The only elements particular to the individual creeds are the outlandish, unfounded and destructive beliefs - that an illiterate man wrote a book; a virgin gave birth; kufrs should be killed; marrying children is acceptable; not recognizing god is a sin and a greater grievance than rape.

You do not need religion to teach morality. You don't need religion to teach anything worth learning.
Politics › Re: 6 Critical Reasons Why Northern Nigeria Remains The Poorest - Sen. Shehu Sani by mmsen: 11:29pm On Feb 25, 2017
oluamid:
This is not necessarily true. There are many Muslim countries that are among the richest in the world both in terms of human development, natural resources, and the way these resources are used.

The problem of Nigeria's North is not Islam after all, a huge population of the south west and south south people practice Islam too. Rather, it's the rulers the region has been cursed with that have used wrong religious doctrines to keep down their people in order to perpetuate themselves in power. You can also say the culture too is also a major contributory factor.
Those nations are wealthy due to oil and gas rents not because of their ingenuity or creativity.

Islamic education is largely useless. Teaching children Arabic in Nigeria is a terrible use of time when it is not the lingua franca of the nation.
Politics › Re: 6 Critical Reasons Why Northern Nigeria Remains The Poorest - Sen. Shehu Sani by mmsen: 11:27pm On Feb 25, 2017
He dealt with the surface issues and not the structural problem of the various useless Emirs and Imams who do nothing but hold the people in a position of permanent servitude.

I don't see a way of moving the northern masses forward so long as those elements look to retain power.

The states have a duty to ensure security and the best states do so.

You think it is a coincidence that Boko Haram was founded in the most backwards part of Nigeria? Why did the leadership there not take steps to deal with the root of the insecurity? There are muslims in the midwest and the southwest - why are they not becoming engulfed in this Sharia nonsense? Why are thy not forming militias that kill people for not following the Quran?

GEJ is not the failure here, it is the Northern elite once again refusing to understand that they need to move forward and ensure that everyone can get a decent education - not just the children of the feudal lords and members of the armed forces.

Was it not the state and local government authorities that allowed Boko Haram to grow? Why are they complaining, when the North were handing over battern from Gowon, Shagari, Buhari, Babangida, Abacha and Abdusalam all in straight succession non of them remembered the other officers from the south. Today they are all recognized as former heads of state or president.
And when those Northerners were head of state did the country ever move forward?

The answer is a clear 'no'.

Even now, Buhari plunged this country into its worst situation in decades. Now that he has gone and a southerner is in charge the country is actually making some progress. Is that a coincidence?

Let them manage their states well before they start running to the FG to mess things up there as they have done in the north, especially the north east.

Those who live and let others live are the best.
Where are these 'militant atheists'? Are they killing people who observe religious rites? Are they kidnapping children for the purposes of rape?

In what way are they comparable with Boko Haram?

The (good) values that xtians and Muslims claim to be exclusive to their religions are human values that are entirely separate from religion. The elements that distinguish religious value from secular values are the nonsensical ideas that are rooted in the past for which we have no evidence and no justification - practices such as scrapping your forehead on carpet or believing that a woman can give birth without having relations.
