How is this car Toks(Tokunbo)? This is a Nigerian-used Peugeot |
Good evening to the Nairalanders. It's with the most harrowing heart-pain that I'm composing this piece. I, initially, didn't want to come out owing to some factors viz: * I'm a very shy and sensitive person who can be embarrassed greatly by unnecessary publicity, attention and the sheer thought of my seeming grand folly being exposed ; * I reasoned Mr Triple A was a genuine businessman & car-dealer who just ran into some sort of so-called 'bad-business'. After all, we had witnessed testimonies on this forum of numerous real people/clients who he reportedly & genuinely pulled-off deals with successfully ; * I presumed Nairaland might not offer so much hope in helping to resolve the issue amicably. This is the my story: On my way to Calabar from Uyo on the early morning of Wednesday, June 25, I had a fatal RTA with my 6-month old barely used car just after entering Calabar. The car was completely totaled & written-off. Later sold the 1.2M car off as a scrap at a value of 50K. Now, that was not the issue. Owing to the demanding nature of my job/assignment in Calabar, the brief duration my sojourn was suppose to take & the incessant heavy-rainfall of Calabar climate, I deemed it urgent & necessary to organize a small car. This took me quickly to the AUTO-section of my 2nd home i.e Nairaland where I saw Triple A's thread. Truth be told, I saw that the last sets of posts were centred on the supposed fraudulent practices of Triple A. But I reasoned that, since his adverts were still running on Nairaland, those problematic client's cases were just a few unavoidable "deals-gone-bad". I felt foolishly that he must have some credibility for his adverts to still be running as at then. I was the one who called him, negotiated & chose to buy a 2001 Volvo V40 which we saw on COPART. The deal was valued at 700-820K depending on variable costs. I deposited 300K. He started disturbing me the following day that 300K won't be able to do anything that I should add more, or else, he won't buy the car & I would lose 500 dollars if I don't respond & he couldn't buy the car. In my greed & impatience not to lose the car nor incur a bad loss of 500 dollars, I borrowed additional 250K which I added. Since that time, it's being different fables. From "they seized his COPART rights" through "the car has no title/deed"/"they lost the car's title" to "people owe him more than 10M" etc. Now, people do have challenges & issues right! But how do you think you can get out of it when you wrap up yourself with multi-layered garb of head-bursting & mind-boggling lies!!! And that is exactly my grouse with him. Lies upon lies!!! Shior, no integrity nor conscience!!! Therefore, we may be plenty that he owes . He's owing me 550K. At a time, I was thinking it'd be saving if I can use my 550K to get another big car (a 2003 Ford Escape XLT) whose idea he brought by saying I should add more money i.e 850K (to make a total of 1.3M), to cut my loss. But all these na stories/wash. He was just posting me. I, initially, thought he was just having bad-times but these lies are typical features of a deeply-ingrained liar & seared heart. He stands to prove me wrong anyway & I'm still waiting. Hope sha my waiting no go tay pass the monkey in chain!!! I know that I faltered. But, as my mum dey always talk, if you close eye to avoid seeing/contacting/meeting evil people, you would lose good ones!! I can stupidly trust but that was how God actually intended the world to be. A world where the next human/soul is pure, incorruptible & trustworthy. I have pulled out deals worth thousands with people on this Nairaland. Rachel Wang right from China got some goods worth > than 370K for me without seeing her. We used only emails. IBL Logistics got goods worth 120K for me right from Dubai down to Calabar with no issues. Yet, I didn't meet him in person. WHATSAPP was our market. It's just a case of a bad egg among few good ones. I'll exercise excruciating patience. After all, the vulture is a patient bird. Watching it effortlessly settle to a well caught carcass can be a real fun!!! |

Matthewbriggs: For eg I detested weak women, women who needed to pushed, who cannot take initiative, and clearly do not have a clear plan and focus for life and I find my self turned on by the go getting type of woman, the ones we call strong women. The kind that does not just have the ability to plan but also has the strong will and dedication to execute on them just like or even better than my mum. I might be attracted to a woman but one's I get closer and discover she lacked these attributes no matter how beautiful she is my interestPerhaps someone patterned after my step-mum. In another news, Mr MatthewBriggs, I think I have the medicine for your illness. You seem to be searching hard & the height is damn too high to reach. I have some good news for you. I'll offer my professional service free of charge by providing you personalities with this hard-to-meet profile of yours. Ummmmmm!!!, I'm talking about 2 people here on NL viz: *Ms MissMeiya. *Ms Kulyie. Hope you quite understand that occasional throwing of "tantrums" goes along with the profile you sooooo much desired!!! |
I still don't get why people opine guess as facts! Seeing a lot of people on this thread claiming gas is cheaper economically at the price of 2800 for 12.5KG cylinder really got my eyes popping wide. Simply because it's completely false. Yes, gas is faster, more convenient, obviously ecologically friendlier, does not blacken pots with soots and comes with this 'touchéness'. But cheaper!?, that is a blatant lie. Let me illustrate it well. I do a light cooking once a day early in the morning plus a heavy cooking once a month usually a Saturday. Initially, I bought 15 litres of Kerosene at 120 Naira/Litre = 1800. I used this for 4months. Then I purchased these two 12.5Kg which I filled at Aba (Abia State) at 3200 per 12.5Kg cylinder. Each cylinder lasted an average of 18 weeks i.e 4.5 months. Equivalency of the gas to the kerosene head-head is ~700 Naira/month for the gas as against 450 Naira/month of Kerosene. It might appear to be a small difference. But for a large family size; with increased/ higher frequency of cooking and with modest income/means, the cost implication becomes huge astronomically especially over a given length of time. So, in truth & reality, the price of gas needs to come down a bit from that high clime of 2800 per 12.5Kg Cylinder for us to start comparing it as being better than Kerosene in cost-effectiveness. But, like I said initially, there are so many advantages of gas that you might find invaluable & difficult to even put cost/value on. |
Buddhar: Fantastic Medical Job Opportunities!!!I'm just seeing this your post. Are the offers still available? |
phantom: your IQ is quite low. no offenceBut you get ample time to answer these haters oohhhh!!! Don't you have other things to divert & invest your energy in? What would be the outcome of your jostling words with them? You sight sense in flogging a dead horse? Or you think you can change their reasoning? It pains me to the marrow each time I see your reply posts/comments. By the way, can't you realise they are already making you reason like them? Please, just relax & be watching as the panoramic events unfold. |
All these joker polithiefians!!! See as Chief Ed Clark dey grin from ear-ear, left & right!!! And the almighty Architect!!! Chai!!!, Nigeria don suffer. See people wey no fit get together on boiling issues concerning how the country go prosper, turned out in intimidating numbers for a cheap movie by a wannabe!!! We the voting citizens of this country do have problem. Ahhhhhhh, I wan faint. |
@ dd25251, your heart is simply golden & beautiful!!! By the way, where were you taught English-language? Cos, for a foreigner, your mastery & handling of the language is laudable & impeccable. You didn't give a prominent image of how you see the Ghanaians? Ooooohhhh!!!, Ghanaian-teachers are preferred in China to Nigerians, I see. They are simply wonderful, amazing & seem to be natural born teachers. My best teacher till date is Mrs Achaempong - my Nursery II Ghanaian class-mistress who returned back to Ghana in 1989/1990. My dream is to still locate her. Yeah!!!, life is not just about materialism & riches-amassing. But, then one has to be successful. Won't probably be visiting your place till nearest future, perhaps, as a tourist. For now, my quest to attain my career set-goal is only making me to eye intently Canada, Aussie or New-Zealand. It is virtually driving me crazy. Just keep up your good works. Hope to see more of you here. Pls, kindly do respond to Eke40seven's viewpoint. |
sexyseun: The truth is even though majority of us here criticize it, over half of unmarried couple cohabitate. I remember when i was in school i was living with my BF, staying with him gave me a sense of direction as he was a serious and focused guy, Damn!!! that guy get principle sha.. we would wake together, pray together, go to the library together, he fixes my assignments, he advices me, he was like my elder brother,i couldnt even think of cheating on him because i had it going well, as soon as he graduated things changed and then i became SEXYSEUN. Chrisbenogor: There's really no guarantee on what will give a good marriage. It takes two willing people to tango.Hmm, I didn't want to comment before until I saw these posts. At least, the 2 of you were a bit objective. People just facetiously condemn a situation, an event or act with no facts except the delusions of religion & norms, some of which ought to be scrutinized deeply to determine its essence. After all, has the religion & norms helped in the advancement of humanity? I'd say, with some measure of certainty, no! This is a gray area with its pros & cons. I remembered reading some researched papers presenting some surprising & fascinating facts about cohabitation ( can't provide link for those who would requested because it was a part of a big Psychology textbook ) : * Divorce/Separation rate was lower among cohabiting couples compared with those who married straight in the 1st 5yrs of marriage. * Adaptability, survival strength & maturation of characters were better among there cohabiting partners supposedly. * It brings about stability & better support for people involve which translated to being a bit happier in reality. Now, there will be a lot exceptions. I'm not supporting cohabitation. It's just that I want us to be balanced in evaluation of our beliefs & behaviours. FEW THINGS in life & reality are OUTRIGHT COMPLETE GOOD/BAD. And as they say, this is one of the dimensions of life where no particular route/way/belief system works for all. Co-habitation will be inimical to some people's existence just as it brings bliss for many. Some also have had it rough & unpleasant with starting out straight. It seems to me that what matters most is the set of people involved. If the people involved are supposedly GOOD (now, this is a broad definition), whatever system they use works for them. Be it cohabitation, straight-marriage, celibacy, asexual etc. So, rather than focus on the system, we centre on the people involve. By the way, I sense a lot of people saying bad about the cohabitation are being hypocritical. Àbí, who are the cohabiting couples you & me see everyday? Are they aliens? Or they don't use IT? |
Are you really sure about the info concerning years of waiting before fruiting? Can think of modern-day genetically engineered improved Mango/Citrus seedlings staying up till >10years before fruiting. I mean I have witnessed some bearing fruits within 3 years. That is why people don't longer practice those grafting/budding acts. I'd rather plant the improved seedlings rather than start doing grafting. Though I must confessed I'm awed by the technology. |
Too funny to imagine the OP is actually listening to the previous comments. For one, you are on the wrong thread. Go to " Car Talk". Your case will be well addressed by more knowledgeable people. Your car is truly consuming fuel. Even if na V20, nothing should make a normal 2002 Accord not register 280-300 miles ( ~450 kms) with 65 litres except something went amiss. The additional fuel the AC use consumes in a normal car should be quite minimal & even insignificant overall especially on a highway. It's even been theorized that a fully wound-up car with AC consumes LESS fuel than that with door glasses does but no AC. No thanks to the dragging effect/drag-coefficient. Quick questions : *Has the car always been like this, when did you buy it, and when did you notice the onset of the problem? *Do you buy the fuel at same fuel station & are you sure of their fuel-pump meter? *What is your regular servicing & maintenance habit like? *What type of oil do you use? Synthetic or Regular? *Have you changed the spark plugs or you are still using the "follow-come". *Have you tried to scan the car. *What about the Catalytic Converter? Dem don remove am? Over all, go to Car Talk Section. You will get more answers. |
Eke40seven: I will (although reluctantly) address this issue as regards the question you asked. I just hope other readers won't further misinterpret my response. You are too much. So is that your cousin. But, then, you need not use a deriding nor derogatory remark at someone's institution as you did with that "Biespel" organization. But, obviously, you sure raised some very important & valid points. |
ow11: Great List, A slight Modification/Addition - Oman isn't in Africa and Mozambique appeared twiceI hail ooooh bros!!!!!! |
Can someone invest liquid capital i.e cash instead? If someone invests 1M Naira, how will returns be Sir? I'll appreciate if you can answer here. But if you have reason not to do this, seyiogundipe@gmail.com is my box. |
o42austino: no body is against Op for trying to Educate Nigerians that it is not greener out there but, some of us are against him trying to paint Kinsley black because kinsley is just working for his commission period, be fore he accuse kinsley for been a criminal he should first Answer the below question for me.I hope you won't hold this as an argument? You see, something was just askew about Kingsley. Is that how to go about "middleman" business? Why didn't he tell the writer right from the beginning what his charges will be? But, then, I get your drift & understand your point of view which is the fact that Kingsley hasn't committed any criminal offence! But what about moral infraction? How would you feel if you are in the position of OP? Can you do what Kingsley did? Yet, you need to understand that the main reason for that article was even not about what OP felt Kingsley did wrong with the transaction. It was from his reflection on life & empathy + pity on Kingsley's perceived present state of life. He felt, everything & all factors equal, Kingsley would be doing exceedingly great in Nigeria than he is now at China. And that he's presently trapped with just trying to sustain. He's supposedly not living life but struggling it, which to OP might not have been the case supposing he reflected on his proposed actions back then and stayed back. Especially with the cash he got from the sale of his land. That article was overall written by the OP & directed at prospective travelers/migrants to reflect well before doing the deed. |
For the 1st time of my reading all these tiresome & conflicting rules/regulations of marriages & relationships on NL, this one is just standout & just as much commendable. Incisively accurate with superb clarity & analytic depiction. There are writers!!! |
It amazes me that we read the same thing &, yet, some so-called humans are chasing Ringworm instead of Leprosy!!! Chai!!! A beautiful brain put this epic piece together for dynamic young minds to think twice about leaving their home country in search of UNSURE goldmine especially when they still have some resources that they can work with in turning good ideas over into gold e.g the cash that Kingsley raised from selling his bequeathed land. Did the writer complain of inability or hardship paying the silly dubious 'brokerage'-fee that he was trying to swindle him? Nawa for some people & their sense of judgement!!!! Thank you OP It was a nice write-up. |
Statement 1 and 3 are the likely true facts applicable to an ideal American family: *Dorothy & George are siblings with Dorothy ( classic American feminine name) being the daughter and George ( equally classic masculine name) being the son. *Traditional American couple sees more acceptable, though not exclusively, the husband as being more older than the wife.Hence, Howard is the father's 1st name while Virginia is the wife's 1st name too. |
