YourHealthlabs: In another news, Medical Dr. Paul Orhii's NAFDAC failed to remit more than 1 billion naira to federation account.

sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=72556

Did we hear such when Pharm Dora was there? huh

Hmmm, now tell me why they won't rather die protecting their unmerited portfolios as CMD, NAFDAC heads,Ministries, Director of Kitchen, security etc

It's all about grab..grab..grab for them.

Let astute Health Administrators head our Hospitals. Physicians should concentrate on treating patients. That what they are trained for, not fighting to lord over other health professionals who are also well lettered.
Do we need rocket-science to type the kind of person you arehuh
Highly divisive, hideous creature perverting facts to incite to the most-horrendous end!
Shior!!!
You reek so much of pull-him-down syndrome.
And to think of it, people can't ask questions that these are the crops & manners of dissents compulsorily requesting the medical-consultancy title & CMD position to be relinquished to them?

Now, what has that Dr Paul done to you?
What do you know about public/governmrntal administration and not remitting public funds?
Are you EFCC or ICPC?
Can you just bear the thoughts of a riff-raff sitting in a who-knows somewhere muddying up your name online without any facts?
By the way, your ability to stir division is readily visible from your adding "Medical" before the "Dr" and changing the title of Prof Dora to Pharm.

I just don't understand why the sense of judgment of the populace's majority is skewed?
Can't they just see for themselves the whole facts staring them boldfacedly?
It is the Phantoms of the house who have your time.
You can all rant to the high-heavens.

princeuk21: The stop rate (AKA Bid rate) is the interest rate that you are willing to receive for the principal that you are investing in the T- Bills. For example you can indicate an interest rate of 10 per cent as your expected interest rate and hope that it is selected, as it will most likely be different from that of other intending buyers. You can place your bid by instruting your bank manager or go with the prevailing bank rate
Thank you Sir
If I understand you well Sir, you meant it is a kind of instruction I give to my agent specifying the lowest/least return-yield percentage below which they should not subscribe for me?

Please, nice people in the house, a friend of mine has about 1.3M & he thought of investing in TB instruments.
He approached Union Bank but was told it was not up to the minimum amount.
Please, any word of advice for him?
Then, this bidding, how do they go about it? Is it the client or the bank/agent that dies the bidding?
How much rate does TB commands averagely these days?

You need to draw a problem solving table.
Using this table, the following facts emerge since there are NO exact same way of giving and addition of all rows or columns must be 4:

Deduced Fact #1~Alice was the only one who could give one each to all 4 sisters because she is the only one with 4 empty spaces to give. Others have only 3 or less spaces.
Meanwhile, she can't take from Christy, Beth nor Edith again since she has already gotten her complete 4 from Beth.

Deduced Fact #2 ~Edith was the only one who got 3 from Christy (from your statement) + 1 from Alice (from the deduced fact #1 above). Therefore, she can't get anything from Deborah,Beth (she has given all her 4 to Alice) nor herself. Hence, her 4 is complete.

Deduced Fact #3 ~ Since Edith & Alice can no longer take from both Deborah again (their received 4 is complete), therefore, Deborah only has 2 people to give i.e Beth & Christy.
Meanwhile, the sum must be 4 and it must not be 3 + 1 since your rule says no pattern of distribution/giving is the same. But Christy has already given 3 to Edith which meant she gave the remaining 1 to someone.
What it means invariably is that Deborah can only give 2 each to both Christy & Beth.

Deduced Fact #4 ~ Since all the 4 sisters had 1 each from Alice (from Deduced Fact #1), therefore both Christy & Beth now have 3 each (from the Deduced Fact # above).
Which means both need extra 1 each from Edith to complete their 4.
By way of deduction again, this implies that after giving Beth & Christy 1 each, Edith can only give her last 2 to Deborah, who so far has only gotten 1 from Alice.

Deduced Fact #5 ~ Now that Deborah has 3, her last one will definitely come from Christy who is the only one who has not completed the 4.

SUMMARY:
Beth gave all 4 to Alice& received 1 from Alice, 2 from Deborah & 1 from Edith.
Christy gave 3 to Edith & 1 to Deborah and got 1 from Alice, 2 from Deborah & 1 from Edith.
Deborah gave 2 each to Beth & Christy and got 1 from Alice, 1from Christy & 2 from Edith.
Edith gave 1 to Beth, 1 to Christy & 2 to Deborah while getting 3 from Christy & 1 from Alice.
Alice gave 1 each to all 4 sisters & got 4 from Beth.

Meanwhile, something tells me we should be able to apply Kramer's Rule of Matrices to solve this problem.
Mathematician in the house!!!, help please.

Hearme: My first encounter with the minister was bad. It was a lecture on the Golden Jubilee of MEDILAG. The man said medical postgraduate fellowship was higher than the PhD degree. To me that was pretty foolish of him to say so, with professionals of different fields in the university seated for the lecture. Its a shame that a man of this state of mind heads the ministry of health. He will definitely attempt to kill other professions in the health sector. I'm happy he is reaping the seed of discord he has planted. In a sane country Wike and Onyebuchi would have longed been fired.
See yourself !!!
What makes you think he's not right after all?
PhD is purely an academic training lasting 4-5yrs with research & thesis submission.
Postgraduate Medical Training lasts 6-10yrs with combined academic & clinical training rounded off with a robust research experience & thesis.
A resident physician is more likely to fail his/her exams.
By the way, the foundation sets them apart since a doc spends > 6yrs in schl while the PhD scholar spends at most 5yrs in respect to the 1st degree!
Do you still think he's outright wrong saying that ?

bushdoc9919: Sorry to but in....but to answer your question, there is an interesting proposal which may make both fee increases bearable for poor students.

(Below quote taken from Funding Nigeria’s Undergraduate University Education by Ife Adebayo. Source: http://www.ifeadebayo.com/funding-nigerias-undergraduate-university-education/ )

Paying N20,000 monthly it will take 5 years (60months) to repay a loan of N1.2million. Naturally you would expect the individual’s salary to increase in that period and so monthly repayment also increases which means the repayment period will actually be shorter. This is fair enough in my opinion.[/b][/i]

I hope this answers your question.
Thank you Sir.
I quite identify with your line of thought.
But then, I mentioned in my previous posts that some universities ( especially state-owned ) are already paying close to this amount but then!, they exhibit more rot & no result.

You know Sir that focusing on the funding is a wrong way of solving the myriad of problems affecting the productivity, value-adding status & resourcefulness of our tertiary institutions.
Yes, the system will work ( increasing the fee to REASONABLE & OPTIMAL amount while creating a system for the less-affordables ). But ONLY where sanity, accountability & judicial principles rule!!!
EducationRe: Federal Universities Should Have Tuition Fees - Pro-Chancellors by MOBBDEEP: 10:37am On Jul 07, 2014
proffemi: So, in your opinion: corruption in Nigeria, and in the universities is the major problem of the sector?
In your opinion, assuming we could wide out corruption in Nigeria, the universities would immediately get to global standards at the current level of funding?
Sir, I did say that our education-tuition system needs re-evaluation & I quite agree values +quality results come with some significant inputs/costs.
But then, increasing the tuition-fee to the heavens, especially without addressing the means of its judicious use will only make us witness more rot.

By the way Sir, do you know that > 90% of Nigerians MOST LIKELY live below 1M per annum?
As at the time my dad retired as a GL 16/17 sec-schl principal ( now, this man should actually be a senior citizen ), I don't think his annual salary was up to 2.5M!!!
Now, this is another problem due to the devaluation of our currency & double-digit inflation.
The problems bedevilling our nation is multi-faceted & the rotting the education sector is a reflection of this.
How do you think he would be able to send his 4-7 children to schools this one that we are looking at 2M tuition fee for engineeringscholars?
May be by the combination of both alternatively deferring of studentship while taking turns at family/home front!!!!
EducationRe: Federal Universities Should Have Tuition Fees - Pro-Chancellors by MOBBDEEP: 10:23am On Jul 07, 2014
proffemi: No, no, that's not what I meant. You will always find stupid reasoning on both sides of the divide on any issue. I did not mean to imply that anyone who does not see things the way we do is stupid. I always respect logic, even if it is in support of a stance I oppose.

I would rather first deflect that question by asking: how much does tertiary education cost in countries we are "copying"? If we want our education to get to comparable standards, it must cost in the same range.

Lest you think I'm copping out, I'm going to come out and say it: I believe that educating an engineering student (my area) should cost up to N2 million per annum. I AM NOT SAYING THAT STUDENTS SHOULD PAY THAT. What the universities decide to charge per student depends on what FG is willing (and able) to drop on behalf of that student.

As you know, ASUU tried to get FG to pay more last year, but students were mostly opposed to the ASUU strike action. So, the universities are simply shifting up the student's share of the burden to compensate.
I hope I won't be wrong to say we are copying British education system.
Now, that is some problem because if I guess right, those guys are using education to generate income.
We can't totally apply their tuition-fee system because bulk of the fund generated is actually to support public-fund.
They don't have much natural resources.
As much as I detest making mention of the fact that we have oil,the truth is that we can't just close our eyes as if it is not there.
EducationRe: Federal Universities Should Have Tuition Fees - Pro-Chancellors by MOBBDEEP: 10:12am On Jul 07, 2014
Again @ Prof ( don't mind me Sir )
What do you term 'fraction'?
I do know I pay a net of about 6% income tax which is direct-tax.
Now!!!, you could argue well that this is too small.
How about the tonnes of indirect tax we pay?
Almost all consumer goods are taxed!
Even our airtime/recharge cards, fuel per litre et cetera all carry tax charges!
See all the tenement rates we pay?
Are you sure the economy will not crumble if we apply this your principle.
How many people will be able to sustain, let alone save by the time you raised the tax rate & apply marked tuition fee in the tertiary institution?

Sir, you have not been able to buy me over with the idea.
A lot of the state-owned tertiary institutions are collecting at present relative bogus fees in the tunes 100-200s of thousands ( I know you will still taunt me back that I don't know what I'm saying because the money is small ) but what do they have to show for it ?
Okay, granted. Let's agree that the fee is inadequate.
If all things are being equal & your principle is correct, should't the 1st generation state-owned tertiary institutions show an edge over their federal-owned institutions in terms of value.

I will continue to reiterate that the fee/funding is not the fundamental problem!
It sure needs assessment but it is just a side problem.
Fix this & leave corruption + defective accountability + rotten Civil-Service un-tended to, our condition will be more pitiable.

Please Sir, can I ask you a question.
How much tuition fee do you think will suffice for the public tertiary institutions?

stine b: I am trying to fanthom if you are a medical officer or House officer maybe even a 2nd MB drop out. For a start,I want to introduce my self as a proud Medical Imaging Specialist A.K.A Radiographer I wish to inform you that as far as my practice of Radiography is concerned,We have trained Radiographers who report Tomograms(CT scan Images, MRI Images, Mamograms and Radiographs(Not picture as you call it). I have worked in Australia,UAE and Grenada before returning home to set up my private diagnostic centre where we run X-ray, Ultrasound,ECGand Laboratory Test. We didn't engage any Doctor in our practice because there are not needed. We have been precise and succesful with our test procedures without any complain from anywhere. It will suffice you to note that I take the X-ray exposure and report the Radiographs afterward with my name and Qualifications written and stamed there in. Same thing goes for general and specialised Ultrasound scan procedures(You can see that I have no need for a RADIOLOGIST,who after graduating from Medical school, decides to come and idle in my field of Radiography because of Lack of Job)
Furthermore, I employed a Medical Laboratory Scientist to oversee our Laboratory and he is very copetent in that line without the involvement of any socalled Pathologist. There is a pharmacy outfit beside us where we Reffer patients to buy their medications if need be, especially in Swab M/C/S etc.The good news is that patients get well after diagnosis and take prescribed medications from the pharmacist. We only refer a case that is worth Refferable to selected Hospitals that understand what Team work or division of labor means so that they can also do the needful. For your information Student Dr. Phantom,Nigerians are getting more exposed to know that you musnt go to the Hospital and see a Doctor to be well. 70% of our patients walk into our diagnostic outfit to give their complains. From our vast clinical knowledge based on experience and reading, we clerk them and carry out investigations where needed and where were see an issue we refer them to pharmacy for drugs or to a Hospital for care.
All the points you have been raising in this thread are only applicable in Government Health Institutions where you have your peers as Directors hence JOHESU petition and outcry to put an end to this anomaly.Government researched and constructively reasoned with JOHESU by accepting to implement our plea and a certain unrecognized Association in Nigeria Trade Unionism called NMA is striking against another mans career progression. All this anomalies in the health sector is what made me to reject an appointment from OAU Teaching Hospital Ife, after my Internship because I didn't want to be restrained from progressing in my career. I never regretted my decision to turn down the offer, because I have made so much money both abroad and in my private practice in Nigeria, A thing that I can only dream of probably after Retiring from the current Healthcare Institutions if I had taken their offer. Infact we need a change in this Rotten sector Instigated by a group of practitioners(NMA) that has little knowledge in Management.
In summary, I heard you said Doctors can do other professional duties. With all sense of seriousness I disagree with you. The day I catch any socalled Doctor Touching an X-ray,CT,Mammo,MRI or even an ultrasound machine, talkless of operating them, I'll so sue them using Decree No. 42 of Federation an act that empowers only Radiographers to run diagosis with those modalities.
Infact Dr. Phantom or whatever you call yourself, I openly challenge you on Clinicals let's see who knows it better.
Go to College of Medical Science University of Calabar and hear how student Radiographers beat Medical students in a quiz organised by the College provost for Anatomy courses (Neuro, Embryology,Gross,Histology etc)
Most of us chosed Radiography as First and 2nd Choice during our Jamb, because we wanted to be Radiographers(Eyes or Oracle of Medicine) Can you beat that? Cheers bro.
Please, I needed to quote this poster in full.
Yours indeed is a professional quack.
Oh!!!, now that you consult & prescribe medications, and the desperate sick people don't have complaints, it has given you impetus to boast that you and Drs are equalshuh
Grenada & Australia my bottom!!!
Wait until any of your uninformed patient develops complication & lands in the hand of a qualified but hungry lawyer!
HealthRe: JOHESU Press Release on the NMA STRIKE by MOBBDEEP:
barcanista: True...doctors don't av d luxury of "rest" like their professional colleagues. The issue now is that the Johesu did not tell us that the Office of Chief Nursing and co officers exist.
I am sure no doctor will entertain a situation where the offices of, Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Pharmacist are ALL occupied by a Nurse. It is so unacceptable and immoral for others to fight for the post of CMD when they have provisions for their own Chiefs.
Johesu should plssss tell us the whole situation of things. At the same time the Meds/NMA should strenthen their PR dept so as to gv the public the necessary informationn on what is going on and also tackle misleading information.

Honestly, NMA's public rating is going low these days....

However, strike is not the best when it comes to dispute resolution.
Barcanista, since you want to know, I will try to let you see.
Now, there is both the professional and administrative hierarchical ladder among the parallel medical & paramedic workers.
What you are seeing is actually the envy & jealousy rather than rightful demand for fairness by JOHESU. In fact, that the NMA & NARD are embarking on this current is to tell you that they didn't do the needful on time, when this allied-medical staff started their trouble many years ago.
Docs are used to these tantrums as it is normal day issue.

Back to what I was saying about hierarchy.
At the professional level, each various disciplines has its crops of higher qualified professionals either with passage of time, acquisition of more professional certificates or both.
Of the various medical & paramedic disciplines, it is the doctors who usually become a professional ( physician/surgeon consultant ) ONLY by rigorous professional training & certifications.
Other allied-medics usually become professional due to passage of time e.g the nurses.
Hence, you have professional positions like Senior Nursing Officer SNO, Assistant Chief Nursing Officer ACNO, Chief Nursing Officer CNO & Principal Nursing Officer PNO.
Only a few actually pick some basic certificates, from may be 2-3 weeks of training, which actually is not a prerequisite to attain higher ladder.
Now, the doctors do not have problem with these allied-medical staffs and their hierarchy.
But the allied-medical staffs covet that Consultant ( which only few of the docs actually attain ) and wants to achieve so by mere certifications of 2-3weeks training!!!!

Now, at the administrative front, it is same story.
All units contributing to the medical service provision are well recognised and hence they have PARALLEL administrative organisation set-up.
I will break it down.
Just as the Nursing Unit have Director of Nursing Services DNS & Assistant Directors ADNSses, the Med Labs Scientists units have theirs, the Physiotherapists have theirs too et cetera.
Then the Drs have theirs too as CMAC & Dep CMAC.
Now, all the units need to come under one total authority which is the CMD (assisted by a powerful Director of Administration DOA who is more of a non-clinical but a high & qualified Clerical Officer ) - a post which has always been filled by a doctor since he's the one that is more coordinating in the process of health service delivery.
The problem of JOHESU now is that they want that overhead-administrative position to be open to all units & not Drs alone.

Other issues are actually secondary.
You are given to intellect.
Read up that their rejoinder or response ( I mean JOHESU ) at the 1st page & tell me if you see any substance there.
They are actually the one greedy, contentious & non-contented.
EducationRe: Just Finished Marking WAEC. I Cry For Our Future. by MOBBDEEP: 7:17pm On Jul 01, 2014
prof.femi:
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it
But Sir, even the Ivy League learning institutions and other leading universities all over the world, offer lots of quality studies free which explains the on-going infinitesimal increasing brain-drain that black countries are suffering.
I quite agree they are usually funded by 3rd party.
Are we saying that our resources cannot fund nor support standard level of education ??

I think the rot is a reflection of the corruption cankerworm that has become the norm of our nation and not because it is free.
Afterall, in the 70s & 80s, education was completely free and the standardwas top-notched.
May be, the few numbers of the scholars in schools then "cushioned" the rot that could have started then.

Let me cite an example Sir, in the pre-2003 at UI, accommodation fee used to be only 90 Naira per session.
When the students started complaining about the depreciation & dilapidation of the halls, the school administration were quick to give the line of "cheap equals sub-standard" especially when Fed Gov howled its tiredness in funding almost everything ( mind you Sir, without productivity & resourcefulness ooooohhhh ).
They increased the accommodation fee to 3,500 per Student with an average size room containing 3 occupants.
Even, luxurious rooms or apartments off-campus were not that expensive ( ~ 10.5 - 14 K pet room per session in additionto the FG subsidy ooooohhhh )
Do you know Sir that within 2 years, the school administration fought off the FG subsidy on accommodation in a bid to take over it, the war which they won.
They shot the accommodation from there (3.5K to 10K per annum)
By 2008, students were paying 20K for accommodation.
May be many will see this as a show of shame, may be not.
But that is not even the crux of the matter.
Do you know Sir that the hostels even got worsen faster than prior to when they were FG funded.
May I remind you Sir that the condition got so worse that in 2010/2011, the gory mind-shattering sad state of the hostel's condition had to be brought to the forefront of the public & media houses.
What were the billions raked in used forhuh?
For example, Tedder Hall has capacity for 400-500 occupants = about 8-10 Million annually.
What were the annual generated funds utilized forhuh

So Sir!!!!, I will still maintain the stand that cheap does not necessarily means sub-standard quality.

You made an oversight.
a) Your calculation for the perfume as you gave above was 17618 & not 17588.
But then you omitted one of the 26 AED perfumes i.e the 1196
If you can recollect, we have 10 links but your calculation list showed 9 links.
If you add the #1196 to the corrected #17618, then you will have a total of #18814.

b) Then the 1st link is not 3 pieces but 10 pieces.
It's the last link that is 3 pieces.

This means the total for the perfumes is:
18814 + 2000 ( Service Charges ) + 2000 ( Calls + Bank Charges ) = #22814

You said the Shipping Charge is #4232

This implies that the total now for the goods is :
#20630 + #22814 + #69850 + #4232 =#117526.

Approximately #117,500
Please, cross-check again.

PLEASE, I HOPE ALL THE GOODS WILL BE GENTLY PACKAGED INSIDE ONE BAG ( THE BAG THAT WILL COME WITH THE PC ) SO THAT IT WILL BE EASY TO SEND TO ME.

Mcleo007: Hello sir, good morning.

For the pc and accessories, cost is N69,850. The cumulative weight is 5kg.

The inks amount to N20,630.

The perfumes are:
1. N4,600
2. N874
3. N1,610
4. N966
5. N1,380
6. N1,196
7. N1,196
8. N1,196
9. N1,196. The weight of 3 perfumes is about 2kg depending on how it's packaged.

Have you chatted with sellers to know if they will deliver to our address or we are to get them? Transportation and call cost would apply in that case.

Commission for pc and inks have been added up respectively.

Courier cost from Lagos to Calabar cannot be determined for now until deal is finalized. This buoys down to the cumulative gross weight.

Bank charges is put at N600 .

Thanks.

I know only about the ink as regards delivery to you.
Can't tell for the PC dealer
I thought SOUQ use to deliver as regards the PERFUMES

You might need to contact them for me

The total weight should still be less than 8KG, isn't it?
Many of those perfumes are very small & less than 100g

Pls, get back as fast as possible
