obowunmi: Just curious. Male or Female?I'm not a chauvinist or sexist, but, my guess would be that Nimshi is most likely a male. Few females read like that & you rarely find them being sociable to the extent of spending ample time online. @ Nimshi, if you are a female, I'm awed & humbled. If you are otherwise ( since there is no place for sitting on the fence here ), thumbs up. Either way, I'll be honoured & it will be a great pleasure for me to know you more. Meanwhile, have you ever thought about taking a side shot at being a professional critic of literary works? ( I'm assuming you are not a trained professional or certified academic in Literature & or Journalism) You are way far too good. That piece qualified as one of the best reviews I have seen! You blew my mind & heart. What Ajanlekoko & Obowunmi said was true. @ Ajanlekoko, you had me with inventing this thread. Kudos brother. @ Topic/Post, I read quite a lot even though some of you here are sure going to smoke me! R. Kiyosaki's whole idealism do not sound pragmatic to me especially when adapted to Sub-Saharan African setting. The book that readily comes to my mind as a stand-out Non-fictional literature is " A Road Less Travelled " Yinkay: Discovered a treasure trove of books in ebook format on this site. http://www.gutenberg.org/. Mostly downloadable to mobile devices on different formats, never had a boring moment.Currently reading Xerxes-Makers of History. That's probably the most popular site for bookworms who are internet-inclined. It's open-sourced & you will find there classic books that are out of print & VERY VERY RARE BOOKS. |
I got an answer to this your question just within the last 6 months. There was a 'Psycho' patient who stayed with us for almost 4months. You people will find it hard to swallow that as the guy psycho reach ( unkempt, ill-groomed, irritating physically, reeking of odour etc), the only antidote is not allowing the guy to start. I mean, once he starts, ( I mean this & it is not an exaggeration), no female including the married ones, have been able to resist the charms & 'spinners' embedded in his yarns. All of them were always stopped dead in their tracks giving him full attention, with many of them grinning sheepishly as if struck by 'Sanponna' the Yoruba deity/god of Small-pox. That was when I knew that that the words of Wyatt Woodrow, which says as I paraphrase " while a man is carried away by what he sees, the way to a woman's heart is through what she hears", is true. @ OP, Yes, all humans are moved by what they hear but in the issues concerning affections, it moves women more. |
* Though I haven't had any opposite sex relationship 'thingy', I found it extremely hard & discomforting to walk a lady ( my sisters & female cousins inclusive ). I remember sometime in my University days when a very brilliant & highly-cerebral female classmate of mine was giving me cues to see her off to get lunch, I just played "Balaam's ass" as if I didn't get it, all because of this un-romantic attitude and she too, was too cocky, modest & principled to ask outright. * I think I will find it hard to say 'I love you' * @ AY Base, whatzup & howie you? I too dey 'gbadun' your threads. I just feel those stuffs ( I meant 'opening the car doors, carrying the lady's bags or 'handies', holding hands et cetera ) are ' oyinbo' stuffs. They do not solely determine how romantic/caring you are, nor how classy / polished. (My opinion though & I stand to be corrected) |
Sir!, what about : VW Golf IV (4) Full-Optioned GLS TDI Manufactured in 2002 |
Omo Alata: All of us have no idea what we've done to offend her. I have 3 siblings living in Lagos, they have moved house and not given mum their new addresses (they say they are hiding their heads and I can't say I blame them). If mum is not careful, she will die a lonely woman. Sometimes I wonder why she decided to have childrenAunty !!!, it's sooo sooo sad that when your mum needs you that bad is when you are running away from her. I can bet my life ( if it was mine anyway ) that your mum has a psychiatric problem. Can you answer the following questions please : * Has she been like this since you knew her? * Looking deeper into her person & personality now, do you think all other things with her are good ? Instead of using ignorant ( I wish I can use an unabusive term but my diction is not that well polished please ) spirituality to apply Malaria medicines for Meningitis. It's very common to see people cling errorneously to Spiritual cause when they encounter what is beyond their comprehension. There's a major pattern to which mental patients usually follow before getting to Mental Depts. The patients would have been taken to all available Spiritual Centres & Healing homes. But as soon as they are appropriately diagnosed and started on drugs, the supposed 'witch' becomes normal!!! I know I will fall under heavy criticisms as if I have said there is no 'principalities &powers'. I'm a good Xtian ( so far I believe in John 3.16 and I'm striving hard to know Christ more and more, and his power of resurrection. Pronto!!!) But there is a difference between magic (magician) & miracle (miracle worker), just as there is difference between apostasy & supernaturality. Take your mum to see a good Psychiatrist & she will be grateful to you plus bless you. Not everything weird or unusual is spiritual. NB. I'm not an enemy ooo. |

denzel2009: All evidences point to the fact that your computer is overheating. It shuts down to avoid further damages to the motherboard. Probably the heatsink or fan is faulty, you can't do anything until you get a technician to look at it.Thanks sir for your prompt reply. But if you noticed in my 1st post, I did explained that it is not just shutting down itself alone. It will continue to 'switch on & off' itself automatically without touching the Power-button. If you then press the power button at that time, it will come on but, usually, as soon as the 'HDD-LED indicator' blinks, it shuts down. I never knew 'Heat-Sink' issues can cause this type of problem. Meanwhile, I equally posted that it has issues with the Cooling unit Dec 2011 which got resolved spontaneously. This was not how it behaved then. If it is Heat-Sink issues, please, what is the way forward ? Thanks once again. |
dragnet: a suspect....Please sir, I don't get you. Could you expatiate a bit. Thanks & God bless. deji2009: [b]My brother, I still say thank you a million times. While on the BIOS Setup Page, the stuff happened again after about 70 minutes (1hr plus). The F8 advice, I did but I couldn't stay longer for 70minutes because of workload to see if it will trip-off. I'll do that tomorrow. Thanks. |

@ OP & Topic, Trust me, it is one thing ( a good thing at that ) to live longer. Then, it is another to live longer but miserably !!! There were a lot of holes in the purported 'abe-ile' research, the most visible of which is failing to separate the incidence of Cardiovascular disorders in those who are happily-married from those who are not. Mind you, how would you justify using only Cardiovascular disorder incidence as the index for predicting/determining longevity in humans. Have you seen 2 grown couple who are in love before? And on the other hand, have you seen a single ( & lonely ) elderly being. What is the person going to say he lived his or her life for. Don't get me started. If you see a doting & happy couple, you will know this claim is pure crap. I remember trying to compare how longer the second of a good couple lives after the demise of the 1st partner ( 'good' being defined here as a function of the difference in age of the couple, number of children, the success of the children, any history of separation etc), I discovered that the 2nd partner usually dies, max, within 1- 2 years. An appropriate example that comes to my memory here is the couple, of one of the greatest Nigerian Literary giant that ever lived, Late Prof & Mrs J F Odunjo ( the author of ' Alawiye ' series ). The 2nd partner died within 2 days of the death of the 1st. This can tell you the quality of life lived together. I think I'm talking too much. If you've seen someone really cares for you, and you too, you have human blood running through your veins and have warm heart enough to recept the love gestures to radiate more love, this piece of shitload called research will fly out from where it entered. Love ( not all these silly " what is he or she worth/what's in it for me/we-see,we-chop" kind of love ) is all. It's the essence of life. |
deji2009: [b]Happy Sunday my brother & thanks a lot for not thinking too low or burdensome of me to give a helping hand despite my disturbing you. I forgot to say that by the following morning when I got to my working place ( I immediately detached the 12 cell battery the evening I noticed the problem ), the problem continued while using A/C power source (charger). Meanwhile, the battery still gets charged perfectly when connected to A/C source. I also noticed that if you leave it for a long time untouched e.g a day, it will allow you boot, log-in & use for like 30mins before tripping off. And the cycles of turning itself on & off automatically starts intermittently with no regular pattern ( I mean it can do that repeatedly and stop only to start again 10 minutes later). I also noticed that, out of frustration & despair, if you ' smack ' the stupid PC, the automatic 'on & off' Poo will start. I understand a lil'bit of computer world & I've tried few stuffs on my own. Could accumulation of dirts be a cause ? Needful to say, the PC also developed suddenly in December 2011 failure of cooling unit to function ( a pop-up message will appear on the screen telling you that that the cooling unit is faulty, that you should shut down & take it to a service centre ) Interestingly & surprisingly, the problem spontaneously on its own got resolved. ( Then, I was at Imo State & it was difficulty locating a good Toshiba PC Service Personnel. Hence, my delay in going for check-up until the problem just 'vamoosed' on its own & me ?, I thank the Lord in response taking it as favour & miracle ). To answer your questions, : * The supposed bizman I used travelled to US but ordered it online from Canada ( this checked out with the shape of the mouthplug of the Power-pack cord ). The system, with the 2 12-cell battery that came with it, bore 'Manufactured in China'. * The Power-pack is the Toshiba's that came with it. No perceived or apparent problem with it so far. * No error message on the screen yet ( I even attempted & completed the ' Launch PC repair service ' command that comes when Windows OS Booting is interrupted, and no problem was reported after completing the 'Launch & Restore'. * Warranty is not something too feasible or practical for me personally. I don't like stress not at all & I don't like dragging issues. I don't even like fixing problems ( because of the attendant headaches e.g see the way I've been constituting myself a nuisance to you ) plus I don't believe in repair except handling it as DIY. I prefer doing everything possible to forestall issues arising which was why I did it in the Pre-Ordering way ( see the foolish me, as if the ones around are made differently. Anyway, it's an experience ). I usually drop the faulty electrical item but that, I can't do here because I presently live a modest meagre livelihood & means. * The place I work uses a big Gen-set. The last time I used a small gen-set was in February 2012. I'll put into action the wonderful infos you gave me in the evening / tomorrow morning because I left the PC in my workplace out of annoyance. How can I thank you enough !!! ? I appreciate deeply. |
Found the ' black & blue ' hilarious. They should have beaten him 'green, white, green' Imagine!, after 'thrashing' the rookies, their supposed 'caretaker' was beaten & battered in all colours. ogbeche77: Haaa !!!! Bros, you are living in dream land.. Chukwumerije was beaten black & blue earlier today by his Cuban opponent ... |
deji2009: I would take it to a computer repair centre for it to be examine.Pls, don't be irked at my late response. I slept off while awaiting feedbacks & infos. I apologise. Meanwhile I appreciate your thoughtful & wise contribution. I guess as much to take to a good PC technician especially the one who 'sabi' & 'dey heavy' for hardware. The problem be say a lot of quacks are parading themselves as savvy. If caution is not taken & wisdom applied, more problem will be added and the original issue compounded. More so, I am at Uyo ( Akwa-Ibom State) where I just relocated to of recent which means I no 'sabi' nowhere. Pls sir, if you were to use your experience to guess the nature of this problem, where would you place a bet that the problem is emanating from? Once again, thanks. |
MOBBDEEP: Goodmorning to the PC 'gurus' of the NL. I, myself, have been trying hard to frequent here but NL has plenty interesting sections.I've been expectant with all my ears down since morning. Please, help me good people, great nation. This problem is killing me inside. My peace is shaken badly. Thanks |
Goodmorning to the PC 'gurus' of the NL. I, myself, have been trying hard to frequent here but NL has plenty interesting sections. Please, this is an urgent SOS alarm. I need help from PC 'brainers' here. All your inputs will be highly appreciated. I got this high-end Toshiba PC customised and delivered to me January 2011. Last week Sunday, it started giving me a problem. It suddenly, while on usage on battery-power, switched off only to switch on itself without hitting the Power-Button. It will continue to do this by itself and sometimes, it may allow you to boot and log-in, using it for awhile only to switch off again. Them it will start the un-induced On/Off cycles. Sometimes, in the process of the repeatedly switching itself on & off, you will hear the fan running at very high rev and then the PC will off. Sometimes, you will hear the peculiar characteristic click associated with forced stoppage of spinning of HDD. I have important files on this PC and it's tied to my life coupled with the fact that $1,410 isn't a small dough. Pls, the gurus in the house, what shall I do? |
@ Calculuxs, May heaven never cease to open to continually bless you beyond your wild imagination. Thank you sir. My friend (the one who has interest in it & a guest here) sends his regards. Thanks once again & sweet dreams. |
Good afternoon nice people of NL & thumbsup for the jobs and good deeds. Pls,help me check this VIN. JT2BG22K010562151 Thanks |
joskid: Dude, let me educate you. Gowon is NOT Berom. He is of the Ngas ethnic group. They are mostly found in Pankshin/Kanke Local Government Areas. Gowon's own land IS THE MOST PEACEFUL PLACE in Plateau State. None of the crisis in Jos usually affect his area. Do you know why? Because there are NO LARGE NUMBER OF MUSLIMS there. So what repercusssions are you talking about?I, kind of, like your person Joskid. By the way, do you mean Angas, because I've not heard about Ngas as a tribe in Nigeria? I want to be educated & informed too. Personally, I think the political-interest/fingering, resource-control & the multiple ethnicities ( with its attendant fear of domination ) is what is protracting the bloodshed in Jos. Settlements like this finds it challenging not being frequently involved in clashes, especially when one of the ethnic groups involved has been known historically to be a 'warring tribe' across a large terrain of the Africa belt. May God send his peace eventhough that prayer, I fear, may be unanswered because we are in the endtimes. God will not contradict himself, I stand to be corrected. |
Idowuogbo: Its aite! How u doing? Not too bad. Too much knowledge to gather & happenings to follow. Guess you are tight, as in cool! Small time now, your friends will surface to 'pounce' on you & start pulling your feet. I think you are a light sleeper & you are also used to sleeping little. Plus, you are more active in the late evenings & early mornings ( Pls, don't yab me ooo cos I know that your sleep, either light/deep or plenty/little, is personal issue & should as such be none of my affairs or interest so to speak). Wishing you a fun-filled week. |
@ AY, Ishi & T.babe, why una dey use my humble person to tauntingly harass ID plus wetin una want make I talk ? Pls, don't allow NLders talk say I dey derail dem thread. God dey ooo I swear! @ ID, I don't even know what to say. Shall I say I'm sorry or worse still, shall I childishly, put up an excuse afront that it is not my fault ? I didn't preempt that your NL hommies will use me to get back at you. |
2sexy: It's obvious that you are a rare gem too. We don't come that easy and I share the same ideal with, but haven't met her yet. I did come close though but the girl in question, after four months, thought I wanted to use and dump her like she had experienced in the past and out fear, she ended the relationship and chose to be alone. It's now a year(AUGUST) since it happened. I pleaded all through that I would hurt her but she refused and said no. I still call her once a while though she has stopped calling me. She's the best I ever met.I do share your thought my brother. Just about 2 months ago, a 22year-old lady was crying profusely & asking if she was asking for too much for a guy that would just love her for real ( you won't believe that as young as that lady was, she had suffered generally &relationshipwise, half what plenty Octogenerians will not experience as cumulatives in their entire life ) There & then, I learnt an important lesson that issue of seeking quality & unalloyed love is no respecter of gender. Then again, analysing numerous relationship, I discovered that it was a case of what the Yorubas called 'eni mo o ko, eni ko o mo' |
Idowuogbo: Loool! Coyote u no! Buhahaha....I meant that you almost always have the right/appropriate words & diction for the corresponding situation, especially when it comes to lampooning or making puns at NLders. It will be to my utmost relish to know if any NLder has been able to cow you or match your wits before. |

Idowuogbo: ^Hmmm..... Dat was DEEP!I don't mean to derail the thread. I've been around for awhile on NL & I was just waiting for a day a thread will make my path cross yours. ( Please, don't yab me ooo ) I hope the 'ogbo' in your ID is not 'wildcat/coyote'. Plus how are you so good in having the last words & also having something for anyone? I doff my head (cap nor hat is not enough) I respect your wit. Are you 4rm Ekiti? |
2sexy: It also happened o a very closed friend. she dated this guy and I believed they had planned to marry after her NYSC but she never made it. She died just at the point of almost finishing the program.Sir, that she passed on onto the worlds beyond was not what ticked me. Rather, it was the fact that this person was soooo damn good & full of niceties, that you get shuddered at the mere thought of getting an equally virtuous & humane individual. To be candid, & I think you will quite agree with me, it is hard to find someone this nice especially relationship wise. I'm someone who gets humbled when I see virtues uncommon in people. The last time I witnessed this kind of relationship dynamics was sometimes 1993/94 when a distant 3rd-degree elderly Cousin of ours, who has this "devil may care" & carefree attitude (I vividly recollect he used to accept the fact that he is bound for Gehenna(hell),that he can't make heaven & that why he is neither deterred nor bothered is because people plenty 'boku' wey go reach hell.....), had this lady who loved ( Chei !!!, that was damn love) him like there was no tomorrow. But Egbon just didn't send & he bungled everything. Up till today, I don't think he had even come to a realisation of the worth of that lady ( Aunt Mope ). It is so sad but true that the pig doesn't know the value of the golden ring fixed at its snout. One of my few but deep aspirations in life has never been wealth, riches, position of authorities or academic success ( afterall, you have some measure of certainty that if you are industrious & smartwise, these will follow) but to come across someone who will shower me with love this way & also become fulfilled, which are interwoven & usually do not come by virtue of your own doing. |
xhero: I just finished youth service, still hustlin to get a gud job and she wz d best tin dat cud eva happen to a guy...supportive,luvin, carin and independent! She alwayz like to pay for our movie tickets and wen she realized dat it wz begining to upset me, she wud first go to the cinemas, buy the tickets b4 comin to my house so i wudnt av a choice. alaoeri: Op nice thread, last time i enter any Peugeot car was last year doing some stuff all around along the line find myself in oyo town & had to travel to osogbo on getting to park the only car available was this old school *station wagon* no absorber, no wiper, seat self na die that kind car sha anyway had nö choice i have to travel. On our way i was so curious have to ask the driver how long the car have being existing & he said wayback 1974, that means 37years was really amazed oh, doubt it if any new generation car can last up to that.Hehe , that car is classical what Yoruba people will call ' Ori olori, ese elese, apa alapa' |
Excuse me sir, is this particular car a Toks or Naija Used / Registered? |
phildon: Crap! What xactly do they do? Sit on tall chair n face loyalists? Mtcheeeew!Sir, you are actually right. The authority of the Traditional-Rulers has been questioned & its being reduced daily in this modern age. Their office has been reduced to mainly performing ceremonial functions since modern day politics & goverment have cleverly taken over the legislative, executive & judiciary organs/arms of the State, which were actually theirs before the herald of the Military Rule & the Republics. Being that as it may, you still find that some of the successful & highly educated Trad rulers are more able to touch so many lives because of the platform the kingship affords them. Also, they still find their usefulness in the Machiavellian-politics of Modern day, especially for the incumbent governments of the cities or states where traditions held strong e.g Lagos, Edo, Sokoto, Anambra, Osun, Oyo, Imo etc In my opinion, their office should actually be scrapped because of its redundancy, duplication of organ of government & unnecessary wastage of Public fund. But some people hold second thought & think otherwise. |
