Ahead of Kogi State governorship election slated for November 21, a prominent chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Jeremiah Abu was last night assassinated in Ejule in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.

Chief Abu was said to have been trailed to his residence at Ejule at about 7p.m when some gunmen, who came in an unmarked car suddenly descended on him and shot him severally in the abdomen. According to a witness, Abu, described as a PDP strategist in the area was said to have bled to death as a result of the gunshot before help could reach him.

Reacting to the news of the death of the PDP chieftain, the party’s youth leader in the state, Mr. Stephen Onaji described the death as painful, tragic and politically motivated. While pointing finger at the opposition, he urged the police to go all out to unravel those behind the dastardly act and also called on the police to do something urgent to curtail some volatile areas in the state, so that the forthcoming election would be hitch -free.

Meanwhile, the new State Police Commissioner, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu has warned terrorists and other criminals hibernating in the state to relocate or get themselves blamed. Ojukwu gave this warning while parading eight suspects arrested for armed robbery, kidnapping, and murder before newsmen in Lokoja yesterday.

He said gone were the days when kidnappers and armed robbers held the state in the jugular by terrorising and killing innocent citizens, saying the command had mapped out new strategy to curtail the activities of the hoodlums.

The CP also warned politicians harbouring thugs to desist or face the wrath of the law, saying effort had been made to ensure that the forthcoming governorship election was violent free, fair and credible. Popular Hollywood actor and comedian, Kevin Hart after his proposal to his fiancée Eniko Parrish over a year ago, has decided to make it official by announcing their wedding date.

The 36-yr-old celebrity had told Entertainment Tonight that August 8, 2016, has been set for the wedding.

"We're gonna go Aug. 8, next year man," he said. "That's right, ladies. I've got to put this chocolate in the freezer." Aside knowing the wedding date, Hart said he has left the planning and everything else to Parrish, his bride-to-be.

"To be honest with you, I don't know what the hell is going on," he said. "I told her, 'Do what you want to do, and just come back to me with a finished product.' " The comedian, earlier this year, had told reporters that he'd given his fiancée a strict wedding budget to follow.

"Just don't go past this number. That's it!" he said.

Ladies, should the size or price of the engagement ring matter? If your man isn't financially equipped or doesn't know the "rock" / ring of your dreams and yet proposes would you accept or decline? This article is inspired by an interesting story I heard from a close friend about a guy who proposed to his 2 year girlfriend with a ring which could be referred to as a "Full Stop" or a "Dot ring" i.e the rock was so small & displeasurable to her.

She accepted the ring but didn't wear it often or put the standard ring finger picture on social media. After a few weeks her boyfriend got angry and confronted her about not posting the ring out there or telling anyone, she lashed out and said this isn't the ring of "my" dreams.

They got into a fight which eventually led to their breakup. My question; Does the size of the ring or rock matter in saying yes to your man? This issue requires a situational approach or solution as we all have different personalities, family background, or orientations. Psychologically and in my opinion a ring should serve as a symbol of love or an interest in starting a new life with another person, the price of the ring should be based on ur pocket or account at the time, if a big or small ring comes it's the gesture / idea that someone wants to spend the rest of their life with you that matters.

Most guys want to give their lady a big rock but what if there are more pressing issues like rent, business projects, health issues ; will a man leave these things or empty his account for a Big Diamond Rock? As a couple you can always upgrade your ring in time as you grow financially.

Social media and competition amongst friends has made it a " sine qua non" I.e an essential for ladies to have a big rock, some ladies have been proposed to change the way they walk or place their fingers a certain way so the world can see, if that ring was very small/tiny/cheap would u walk and put your hand in a way that will blind our eyes? Do what works for you in your own clime. 30-year-old Lorraine Kekana was made to listen to the cries of her four dying children who had just had their throats slit, allegedly by their father, IOL news reports.

Minutes before, her husband had allegedly phoned her to ask whether she had any final words for her children before they died. The four boys, aged 13, 10, 6 and 4, were killed on Sunday morning Sept 6th at their home in Moletlane village in Limpopo’s Zebediela area South Africa.Two of the boys were killed inside the sitting room and the other two in their bedroom.

Sitting hundreds of kilometres away in Pretoria, Kekana dropped the phone in shock. Her husband can’t be named until he appears in court. On Monday, Kekana couldn’t hold back the tears as she recalled the gruesome murder of her four boys. Moments after the phone call, Kekana phoned her neighbour and asked her to find out what had happened.

"I phoned her back and she said all the children had died,” said the grieving mother. Again she dropped the phone in shock. "I phoned her back to ask where my husband was and she said he’d gone into a room and he had blood on his clothes."

He was later found in his bedroom with injuries to his throat in what appeared to be a failed suicide attempt. Limpopo police spokeswoman Colonel Ronel Otto said the 36-year-old man was recovering in hospital under police guard. "As soon as he is well enough, he will appear in court on four counts of murder,” said Otto.

On Monday, Kekana lamented her tragic loss. She had earlier cried out aloud when Limpopo Safety MEC Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana, who had visited the family, spoke to her. Speaking to The Star later, she said:

"I’m numb. No amount of tears will bring back my children. How am I going to live in this house all alone? I had never prepared to bury all my four children at once."

Kekana said her husband had phoned her earlier to tell her he wished he had crashed his car – with the children inside – into a a truck. According to Pulse News, mixed reactions have trailed the declaration of assets by President Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo. Addressing the issue, President Buhari said he has declared his assets four times. He also encouraged the press to investigate and dig up his previous asset declarations.

He said “In Nigeria, it is a constitutional issue and that is why I am blaming you gentlemen of the press. If you really want to do investigative journalism, you don’t have to worry me at this stage; I have declared my assets four times."

Adding that “When I was governor in 1975, I declared. After being Minister of Petroleum and as a member of Supreme Military Council, I declared. When I was Head of State and now as a President, I also declared. I have declared my assets and all that I have four times, and you (the media) have the right to go and demand for my declaration. Instead, I am being harassed.”

Wike said that he was able to pay salaries to civil servants, and pensions to footballers, without receiving any bail-out. The Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, gave stewardship of his 100 days in office to citizens of the state in a televised broadcast.

During his state wide broadcast, the Governor berated the opposition for trying to downplay his achievements, and deliberately refusing to accept that Rotimi Amaechi did great damage to the state's finances.

Wike said that he was able to pay salaries to civil servants, and pensions to footballers, without receiving any bail-out.

He also hinted that the security of the state will be beefed up, using armoured helicopters. Adding that the abandoned law building in the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, has been renovated.

I am really fadeup with this kind of government we have this days. I don't even know what to believe again or even blog about as a blogger. The other day a well known news paper published how DSS carried out a raid in Akwa Ibom Government house and another news paper published that Akwa Ibom deny that such situation did not occur.

Even before that DSS stated that they recovered host of arms in the government house Akwa Ibom only for the next day, the changed the statement and said they only recovered piles of dollars. Hmmmmm nawaoooo, which way naija?

Nigeria’s traditional allies might have deliberately frustrated the efforts of the immediate past administration to tackle the Boko Haram terrorism.

An investigation by Sunday Vanguard shows that multiple written appeals by the Jonathan administration were simply ignored by the USA and some other Western nations. This was disclosed to a reporter by an unnamed security source in Abuja.

The informant claimed that up to 25 letters we forwarded to the United States and other Western countries, requesting sale of modern weapons needed for anti-terrorist operation.
Apparently, Nigeria was willing to pay for the desired equipment. The government was not asking it as a gift. However, none of these requests have been satisfied.

“The same people who made all the promises about assisting us to bring an end to the Boko Haram attacks and bring back the abducted Chibok girls did everything they could to frustrate our efforts,” the source said.

The source reminded that only excuse of the Obama administration for refusing to sell the much-needed weapons to Nigeria was that Nigerian troops were reportedly not adhering to the fundamental human rights of the course of the anti-Boko Haram operation.

This made Nigeria to go for a controversial purchase of South African and Israeli weapons. The two deals were eventually foiled in September 2014.

Finally, Nigeria had to turn to Eastern Europe (Belarus, Czech Republic, Poland, Russia and Ukraine) and to Asia for weapons. “A conclusion was reached that the nation would suffer more devastation should she continue to beg those we regarded as our friends when things were going on well with us,” the source said.

Alternative arms sources did not only receive Nigeria with open hands, but offered more complicated forms of cooperation. The crises rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since its poor performance at the last general polls have continued unabated with emergence of a faction in Kano state.

A group named PDP OUR PARTY has come out hitting hard on the leadership of the party, accusing both the executive and the leading gladiator, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau and Ambassador Aminu Wali of deliberately grounding the party for selfish reasons.

Caretaker, public relations officer of the factional group, Comrade Yakubu Ado Baso, said that the emergence of the group is not in any way aimed at disrupting the unity of the PDP in Kano, rather it will strengthen and bring the needed cohesion and sense of belonging to all members.

Baso who addressed journalists on the issue explained that, the out-of-favour leadership of the party led by Alhaji Rabiu Dan Sharu did nothing to shore up the party during the last elections which led it to its present status.

The PRO while lamenting the pitiable situation of the Kano PDP stressed that it was due to the weakness of leadership at both state and local government levels that saw the former vibrant party crumble like a pack of cards before and after the last general elections, adding that the party has lost its soul.

The forum therefore announced Comrade Aminu Sa’ad Beli as its acting chairman and solicited the support and cooperation of all PDP members in the state to rally-round his new leadership so as to revive the party from its present comatose position.

PDP in Kano was engulfed in leadership crisis since its defeat by APC in the last general elections where it lost the governorship, state house of assembly and chairmanship positions. Allegations were rife that the powers that-be, then allocated all available contestable positions among their cronies.

Buhari, who arrived in the evening, was welcomed by the governor of the state, Aminu Bello Masari and a large entourage. Just like he was welcomed in Kaduna State two days ago. Many people and not excluding him think that this welcome gestures is tantamount to success. Think again.

I think he is only welcomed in the Northern parts of the country which would at least give him reasons to acknowledge the facts that he is actually the king of the North. Or maybe he already know or just maybe thats the plan.
