You can't have a civil arguement with someone who has convinced himself that the IMF and World bank are secret imperious organizations that are bent on controlling world resources and forcing their economic policies down the throat of suffering massess of people via their puppets. Not possible!

You also cannot convince a closet socialist/marxist ideologue who masks his political and economic views under the guise of empathy for the suffering masses of his homeland while enjoying the lifestyles of the same economies he advocates against.  I am not going to bother bantering economic policies with you. Its a waste of valuable time.  I will however state my stance on the fuel subsidy issue:

1. I am in agreement with the macro economic implications that Nigeria will face down the line if it continues to subsidize consumption over production potentials. (The opposing arguement being there are no real subsidies being rendered to the people in the first place)

2. The IMF and World bank did not create good governance and corruption problems in Nigeria  which are the underlying issues fueling the subsidy  removal backlash

3. Government should not be in the business of building or maintaining refineries. They have shown time and time again that they are grossly inefficient and ineffective in managing any enterprise in Nigeria.

4. A step down approach to reducing fuel subsidies over a given period of time should have been the most ideal process given that on the other side of the arguement government has not demonstrated its ability to manage or implement structural policies that would create the enabling environment necessary to facilitate economic growth vis a vis power/electricity generation,oil refining and infrastruture to convince the populous of the benefits of their subsidy removal agenda.
