My problem with Cele's comments are they only highten zenophopic attitudes and do not solve the problem in any way whatsoever.
To solve the problem you need to address the route.
How can we lower the demand for these harmful substances?
How do these dealers gain access into our country and without any other source of livelihood and career path have permanent residencies and even citizenships?

Cele, address those issues and stop making hypocritical populist comments that would only pitch the poor and gullible masses against one another.

The rantings by your police chief is not helping situations at all. He is inciting Xenophobia and should be the one educated in tackling such issues of Human desperation.

Drugs is a problem in SA and it is well known that Nigerians are the most "advanced" dealers in the trade. I use this word because certainly there are other parties that practice these same things only with little success due to poor organizational and trafficking skills.

Nigerians use the same business savvy skills in successful legal enterprises in establishing these illegal businessess.

The issue is quite simple to address. There are communities of well mannered and law abiding Nigerian citizens within the country. The police should tap into these communities and set up moles as well as discuss issues that would undermine Drug traffickers.

Information should be deseminated as to how these illegals gain access into the country, the areas they establish in should be well surveyed and monitored, Prosecuation should be tougher, including deportation and a life time ban on entering the country.

I doubt any of these steps will be taken seeing that corruption is well rearing its head into the great African hope known as RSA. Without the cooperation of the SA citizens, government and police, these businesses cannot thrive.

Inciting citizenry into barbaric behaviour or pointing fingers at particular groups of people is just talk. This will not solve any issues as such so your POLICE CHIEF identifiying Nigerians as culprits( Something known to most people for several years now) is only as a result of bent out frustration and no sense of problem solving skills.

Zuma has actually confounded critics with his leadership so far. They thought he was gonna nationalise everything and correct the imbalance in society straightaway, but he hasnt lived up to the rhetoric. Rather, he has been conservative in his approach.

And the economic class in the country are trully greatful for his conservative approach. Like most goverments, they promise the people social change but are really serving their true masters. The one's with CAPITAL POWER.

The west understood this far back during the industrial age which is why they eventually gave up political power in SA knowing fully well they are entrenched in its economics.

They will turned a blind eye to some issues of corruption so long as their power structure is not tampered with.

A middle class elite willbe created in SA compromising mostly of 'blacks' who will move more to the right than the left, knowing that their new found wealth would be threatened if the pendulum swings left.


Its history just repeating it self again and again.

Through all my travels within African, no one country has astonished me as much as South Africa concerning Nigerians. Forget Kenya, Senegal even Ghana beef with Nigerians. The Saffers version is very strange.

I chuck it all up to psychology. Anger that is brewed by so many years of oppression, if not addressed effectively will channel its way to any possible outlet i.e. newly percieved "enemy".

I am the first to admit however that the grieviances concering illegal immigration and competition are valid and falls on their government to tackle this issue head on.

nigerians selling drugs elsewhere isnt an issue for me, the money goes to nigeria in the form of remittance and is probably one of the most minor international ways to get dubious money, if nigerians sold or didn't sell drugs south africans still wouldn't like them, so might as well get paid in the process.
next they'll say nigerians are causing aids there too.,

Any negative action by one nigerian affects every nigerian and the non chalant attitude in support of criminal activity is not deserving of anyone's mind or approval.

Those boys doing those things there should be prosecuted and prosecuted hard to discourage that activity. Best scenario. Deport back to Nigeria.

Please read the article properly. The guy never said Nigerians were responsible for all the crimes in SA.

Neither does the  analysis above imply that SA's are the only ones involved in criminal activity within the country.

The issue is not who is committing crime but who is being "demonized' or scape goated which gives licence to bigotry and violence perpetrated on innocents.

On one of my many trips to SA. We came across two zimbabwean women who were literally kept as sex slaves in a township just outside johanesburg. Their captors were SA men using them as house girls and the such. The women had no choice in this matter. He slept with them on demand and they also prostituted to feed his drug addiction. One of the two women had a baby for these unscrupulous touts. the baby looked quite retched and was tested for HIV. He was positive. Meanwhile the father was no where to be found when he discovered we were around.

The next incidence was assitance we rendered some foreign reporters who were investigating child abduction and prostitution rings in the country. Most of the culprits that smuggled the girls across the border from zimbabwe and mozambic into the country were SA men and women. These girls were kept in half way houses as young as 16 hoping to enter the bigger cities in the form of waiteresses and dancer/prostitution. So far no government interventio

Some of the women used these girls as income, selling them off to the highest bidder(some white men including) in exchange for money. In all my time there out of 15 cases we investigated only one was run by a nigerian syndicate.

Now not to be bias or excuse the act but the girls we encountered amongst the Nigerians were actually better treated than their counter parts. These ones had "shakara" in their body, looked healthier, Most tested less for HIV infection and most let us know they had money stashed somewhere.


Please you people should stop fooling yourself. Nigerians are scapegoats in SA.
