kachiz: Maybe for holiday or maybe for something more. Every country has its own issues. People still go to Libya and Syria because they believe they will make something out of it. The guys that were giving us useful info and guidelines have all backed down because of you peoples fight. You guys should kindly calm down so that they can come and continue. Sorry. I had a colleague(lady) I was speaking with last week whose family was also planning a trip and she too was concerned about the recent xenophobic acts and I tried to let her know that social media did exaggerate the issue. You can travel to South Africa on holiday, nothing will happen to you as long as you do the usual tourist thing. The country likes when you are coming to spend money with them I would strongly suggest Cape town as your destination because it is a lot more tourist friendly. You will loose a lot of the "African" feel if you do go there. If you wish to experience a more African vibe then rent a vehicle (if you can drive right hand drive) and make your way to Kruger national park. If you are coming to South Africa to Hustle, please stay back, you will experience Xenophobia without a doubt. |

If you wish to continue this stare down competition. Go ahead. Yes, you are projecting that anger you feel towards your father for abandoning you when you were born and shacking up with another woman in Kwazulu natal. I am not your father, Dievluit. DieVluit: #SayNoToSouthAfricaPhobia, in fact. What you are fighting against is Morpheus phobia cause that's what you experienced when you were in SA. You are like a guy who practises misogyny, who is then surprised when women reject him. The more he fails to score a girlfriend, the more he hates women, the more the women keep rejecting him. Its a cycle, my friend. You are frustrated and are a victim, but you have yourself to blame for that. If you were truly fighting for justice, you'd be fighting against the ills in your own country. But no, you don't care about that. Its SA that you care about, cause they hurt you. Projecting!! Did your Zulu father terrorize you that much. No matter how many times you say it and how much you want to believe it. Noone hurt me in South Africa. Say it loud #SAYNOTOXENOPHOBIA in SOUTH AFRICA! |

I have singing that tune since 2008 and have been vindicated. Simple because your government managed to sweep it under the rug for the time being doesn't mean its gone. Root causes haven't been dealt with and until then SAYNOTOXENOPHOBIA!!! |

DieVluit: You are contradicting yourself. Apply that " wisdom" to South Africans too, why don't you? But you can't do that because you are a victim. You have been hurt badly by South Africans and now you walk around with a chip on your shoulder, on some crusade. When it comes to foreigners, "the content of the character defines the human being and not their nationality". But when it comes to South Africans, no, no, no. No such luxury for them. Do you know how crazy you sound? No logic whatsoever. Zero thought. Zero sense. This is what happens when your views are driven by bitterness. IT can't apply to South Africans. Xenophobia runs in their veins. Ps...Damn you sound so much like CraigB. Did you guys go to the same school ? |

14: I raised the intergration issue in the "foreign affairs" thread, morpheurs24 hummered me for it. You dont go to a foreign land and isolate yourself in a little group, instead of making friendship with the locals. The locals will view you as an enemy, but if you made friendship with them, you will learn a lot about them and the country as a whole. Its shocking to find someone who has lived in the country for 10yrs and still does not understand the country, that happens when you isolate yourself. It is strange to me this logic of the problem of Isolationism?? This means that either every foreigner has a mental disorder or its the reverse with the locals. This isolationism is practiced by Nigerians, Ethiopian, Somali, Congolese, Burundians, Malawians, Mozambicans, Greeks, Portugese, Chinese, Indians, Brits, Germans, Jews e.t.c. that reside in South Africa Hmmm Could it be that because you have been locked away in bantustans for quite a while that everyone else looks like "enemies" to you. |

DieVluit: Yes, so the Nigerian mob of filth below was protesting against a building and the gods that made the man fall. Also the man in the picture below was not a member of a Nigerian drug cartel in China. He was arrested for selling roses and cotton wool. Do you see how those dudes are chilling and smoking right in front of the cops. Not possible in SA. You are slapped and dragged at the back of the car if you are a foreigner. No bruises or marks on the guy who was arrested. he is being escorted to jail. Not being burnt alive! |

chineloSA: SA is not so bad as it is ppainted, yes there are challenges but if you do things by law you will have a better future. There are few Nigerians who are benefiting from getting SA education and citizenship etc. including myself. I just met another two Nigerian guys who are living and working in Saudi Arabia on SA passports. Funny enough we were discussing discrimination because of Nationality in Saudi Arabia in all industries or sectors. We all know we would not have gotten the jobs here in Saudi Arabia with Nigerian passport but only because for SA citizenship. Saudi state the countries they wish to attract and if you re not from those countries they don't employ you, and Nigeria is not one of those skills they wish to attract The Universities and school will be closing for summer and they are both going to SA for holidays. I asked them if they will be going to Naija by any chance, the response was "HELL NO" They are bot planning to buy property in SA and settle in SA. So if Xenophobia was extremely bad in all corners of SA, why would they prefer to go SA than Nigeria?? Those who wish to go to SA, go legally and get proper SA education and later citizenship and never be on the wrong side of the law, you will reap great rewards just like any legal immigrant elsewhere. SA Higher education is still respected and the development is also very respected. As OP said plan your move very well and you will reap the benefits Understand that the media sometimes hyper-sensationalize issues. Again this is not an indictment on All South Africans for Christ sake. However there is nothing that I have said that is untrue. If there is then please point it out and I will correct it otherwise. The good and bad of South Africa must be told, no sugar coating. To be forewarned is to be forearmed! Shikena! |

chineloSA: Not quiet. I see contradicting statements. You first said that Nigerians are better off in China, Malaysia etc. than in South Africa, therefore you advice people to go to these countries either than SA. Nigerians fair much better in China and Malaysia than they do in South Africa from my perspective and interactions. You have a higher number of legit traders, importers, students and Nigerian business people who travel and relocate to these countries in comparison to the unskilled and semi skilled type that find it easier to travel to South Africa. China and Malaysia do have issues with Nigerians who engage in illegal activities as should any country but there is no blanket perception that ALL NIGERIANS are drug dealers as it is in South Africa. The attestation to this is the perception of Nigerians in developed countries like the US, the UK, Germany and the likes which attracts the more working, middle class, upper middle class Nigerians. You don not experience discrimination in the manner meted out in South Africa or at least they are more civilized about it than the South Africans are. chineloSA: Then I asked you if you have advised those Nigerians in Malaysia who have been having xenophobic encounters to return to Nigeria. You contradict yourself because Malaysia has xenophobic/migration issues targeting Nigerians and also SA, but to you SA is the hellish and develish place of all. I lived in SA before I became a teenager, I moved down with my parents ( God bless them ), and studied Senior primary and High School and University worked there and acquired citizenship. SA can honestly be demonized by the media including SA media.Though I was not in SA during the attacks, some of the pictures that you saw during the last attack were actually pictures from the old attack, so it was exaggerated. Your perception about the country is too corrupted, My dear, it is not corrupted at all. I fight for people like you and the little girl in those pictures who's crime it is to be stereotyped by a people who constantly want to blame others for their misfortunes. I am fully aware of how social media exaggerated the pictures about Xenophobia and I am definitely not new to the topic seeing that I have been on Nairaland for quite some time now. |
