Even your diplomats appear to be participating in this irresponsible reporting. Both the diplomats and the Union of Nigerians rely on a telephone call. They can't even tell us, if the police and foreign ministry of this country have been informed and what response they've been favoured with.

An embassy which knows what it's doing would immediately approach the authorities in its country of accreditation and even send an official or officials to verify the information they've received from their citizens so that they can send a factual report to their President. These people are pathetic. Are they even diplomats? They appear to operate at the same level as ordinary SA masses who think every Nigerian is bad news.No

They are emotional and make promises they can't keep. There's no way an embassy or consulate can effectively investigate a case and protect its citizens without the cooperation and assistance of the local authorities anywhere in this world. Are they engaged in a popularity contest, hoping the new President will not replace them if they make irresponsible and statements? As for you Nigerians, you should know that there are two kinds of Nigerians here in SA - the really bad guys who misrepresent you and appear to be in the majority and the really good ones. The good ones are definitely there and are safe as they go about doing their business but the reputation of Nigerians is mostly bad and can cause a lot of problems for the good guys, mainly due to what is done by criminals from Nigeria.

One example you may be able to appreciate is that I go to a Nigerian church which is quite close to a building that is occupied by Nigerian drug dealers and other criminals. They are known by the public (good Nigerians included) which suspects they work with the police. They've been seen by some of us selling drugs close to our church perimeter wall and gate. Of course they are chased away every time we see them. What do you think that does to the image of our church which is attended by foreign immigrants, mainly Nigerians and a few South Africans? I can tell you what the public thinks about us - we're all Nigerians, we're rich and our cars are bought with drug and brothel money. Can you blame the public?

Also please be aware that here, ordinary and very poor South Africans are fed up with what they believe is police inaction against criminals, have a tendency to take the law into their own hands and they'll brutally kill anyone they're convinced is a criminal. There's no immunity for Nigerian or SA criminals. It's unlikely that they'll stop taking the law into their own hands simply because the AU, Zuma or Buhari said don't do it. Also, fellow Africans, when you throw mud and sleaze at our country and leadership with your "holier than thou" attitude, remember that we "know what you did last summer" (1980s) to thousands of Africans, especially from Ghana. You even have a "Ghana must go bag." So please sober up and develop a questioning mind and stop swallowing everything you're told by people, institutions and governments who do not have Africa's interests at heart and are doing everything to whip up tension between Buhari and Zuma so that the continent should fail in its efforts to extricate itself from the quagmire of poverty and underdevelopment. They know better than you what a united Nigeria and South Africa can do for their own citizens and this continent, if they combine their strengths and efforts.

Miaraka:
The fact that your own diplomats appear to be participating in this sordid anti African agenda really saddens those African people everywhere who are working hard, making their own humble contributions to ensure that our continent, the cradle of mankind and mother of civilization, is united and takes its rightful place in the community of nations.
There's a host of measures that the AU, our SA government and other African governments need to implement to deal with criminals, certain police who're alleged to be on the payroll of Nigerian drug dealers and brothel owners, SA citizens who take the law into their own hands as well as the corruption, fratricidal internecine conflict, Boko and Al Shabab terrorism, repression and poverty which force so many millions of African immigrants to leave their countries to come to South Africa in search of peace, protection and prosperity. Unfortunately, South Africa cannot carry this burden alone, especially now that our country's economy is not doing well. Everyone of us African people must play our part, starting within our own families and bring up children who truly love their people and continent and hate injustice and corruption.
