RENOWNED2: Please my people, what is the best way to go about getting letter of recommendations. Una know our nigerian lecturers way. Letter of recommendation is NOT a must for it to be from LECTURERS. If you read it well, you’d see from Professionals or so there. Those are like, your supervisors, HR in your place or former place of work, all they need to do is just use the work place letter head and stamp or official email if any. Boss! Don’t go and be there delaying your self waiting for lecturers oh. Personally, I didn’t use any lecturer at all, people that recommend me were my Present and past supervisors., and guess what, it took them no long time to do that since I told them how urgent it’s needed. All were approved by my schools. Shalom! |

plexxyus: Hello people,
Thank you all for the good job that you are doing here. I recently joined the conversation last year and the volume of information and help I have gotten is enormous. Thank you.
I am in a tight situation here. I am going for my MS in Mech Engr and I have my visa interview already scheduled for Monday, 05/31/2021. However, my dept reached out to me on Thursday last week offering me a GA position in the department - someone else previously awarded had cancelled. However this is coming quite late and I reached out to my International Student Office on Friday to revise my I20 but I haven't heard back from them and it might be too late already, since my interview is tomorrow at Lagos. My GA offer letter from my department comes with full tuition waiver plus $21,000 salary for 1 year employment, leaving me with about $3k deficit. My mother will sponsor the remaining deficit.
Is it advisable to go with my GA offer letter to my interview as proof of my GA funding? Has anyone been in this situation before?
Thank you in advance. My Sister, Best Bet is to Cancel Your Interview and Re-book. Fortunately, You Have another chance to use your Appointment Fee if you’ve not cancel before. Once again, Congrats and Goodluck! |

EricOse1: Good day everyone,I have been following few of the chats,I must commend all who have been of great help, this house gave me a different perspective on traveling out.thank you.May God bless you all abundantly. Please could anyone help me with a brief break down of student application from the start to interview day, please I really need this right now so that I can start.thanks again I would appreciate if I a volunteer to mentor oooo Step 1 Research for schools that suit your profile perfectly in terms of programs they offer , requirements for admission and funding opportunities . Step 2 Contact the *Graduate Coordinator* telling him why you are interested in the school. You're to introduce yourself talking about your name, Country, Course of Study, GPA, plans for GRE and TOEFL, Research Interests, publication and also why you like his research interests. Conclude the mail by inquiring if there are funding opportunities for your intended program. Step 3 Prepare for GRE/TOEFL/GMAT (depending on the program requirements) Step 4 Apply to the schools you choose ( Some schools requires you to apply for funding as you submit your application, some give automatic funding while some requires you to apply for funding *only* after admission offer) Step 5 Request for your I20 The I20 is the most important Visa document which displays relevant information about your program, cost and funding. Step 6 Process your SEVIS (fmjfee.com). The SEVIS is a compulsory fee which must be paid before Visa Interview. Step 7 Apply for Visa. This requires intense preparation because you're going to be drilled by the Visa Officers. Step 8 Pay for your flight and fly. |

Dotman23: Good evening, please how do I sort this out...I am trying to pay for my application fee using union MasterCard... But I Keep getting Card authentication error Boss! Anything online payment is best and reliable being paid via GTBank (Card and App). So, try get a GTBank card. Or the app fee is more than the daily $ limit by CBN rule? If not find GTBank Master Card. |

lilfrancis100: I need your advice please. The duration of my my program as written on my i20 is from August 16 2021 to May 30, 2026. While filling DS-160 form, I wrote the duration to be 5 years instead instead of 4 years, 9 months. Hope this won't be an issue. I am yet to submit my Ds160 Why do we like making things seems hard for ourselves? Like boss, you can actually see in same section where you can select the same study duration in MONTHS. I mean, instead of 5yrs 9months why not just convert all to months and fill in the no of months. |

bamiDee1: Hello my experienced people.
Please I need help ASAP.
I applied for Engineering Physics program and SEVIS placed it as "Physics" on my I-20 letter. A) Should I put it as it is "Physics" on my DS-160 form and then explain to the VO that I'll specialize in Engineering Physics? Or otherwise
Meanwhile, the school told me this when I asked for a change:
It cannot be changed. They do not know why SEVIS made it that way. The CIP code for Engineering Physics is 40.0801 which is also considered to be "Physics, General" *This is the information that must be in SEVIS. For some reason, SEVIS considers 40.0801 to be "Physics, General." It is okay that the name does not exactly match up with the name of your program because the CIP code matches. It is correct and cannot be changed to anything else*.
Thanks in anticipation of your response. My famous saying, “Na Wetin dey your i20 make you fill you, to avoid drilling rather than further explanation” |

Can we pay for visa fee and choose an appointment date with that DS-160 AA** number even tho we haven’t fully completed the DS-160 form and submitted?

Predstan: Well, that depends on the profile. If your profile shows professional experience and/or your program is so much interesting, a loan will not stop your Visa. There are a lot of people who got their visa with private loans like ProdigyFinance and Mpower... Yeah Yeah. Well, I don’t even know his profile, so my comment was me using an average profile as case study. And on visa issue, person wey get full funding sef dey chop L, so Grace >>> Profile. |

armstill: OK thank you for this, so what about students loan? Will using international loan companies like mpower work if the loan is approved? Students loans don’t really and mostly sounds well to VOs. Reason being, “How you go take pay am back as a student” and “no be say auto work dey for you immediately after Sch”. Like, “guy don’t come in our Country and because liability”, “na una type go finish school Japa dey hustle because una need to pay outstanding debts”. You get boss? |

Moshkom: Sincerely, the best idea is a ‘running account’. Like, Open a new account and deposit the said amount ke? No na. Think about it again, it doesn’t sound right. Me, that I’m not the VO sef would think, after I give this one visa him go, go commot the money and close account then, enter USA and Japa. Like, a running account speaks a lot, Like, vo go even see say “this guy money no be today; see in and out flows”. E CHOKE for him side.
Wait sef, some schools would even tell you to provide a sponsor and tell the bank to fill a section of the longevity (year the account was opened) of the account and average inflow per and each months of the school requirement (mostly last 3months). Just so you know, new account won’t help.
Shalom! |

armstill: Hello everyone, please I need an advice urgently, I got admitted for Masters in the US with partial funding but I'm meant to provide proof of funds that covers the rest of total expenses. Is it wise to open a new bank account in my name and deposit the total money there and print the statement? Will it be accepted by the embassy as I am aware I cannot use an uncle or aunt's account statement. Whats the best idea to go about providing a proof of funds. Any advice is welcomed please, I'm in a hot sit right now. Thank you all Sincerely, the best idea is a ‘running account’. Like, Open a new account and deposit the said amount ke? No na. SomtoObu: Please I am having issues uploading a photo. It is saying it doesn’t not meet requirements. What can I do. I tried taking it at home and editing myself but it still did not accept it. I also went to a photographer. No luck there too. It is saying image not accepted due to compression artifacts or image is overly compressed. Try to use a professional photographer, I mean all these studios people. I snapped mine at studio24. Just tell them USA visa passport, they know the format already. It won’t cost more than 2k or so |
