Thank you all for the good job that you are doing here. I recently joined the conversation last year and the volume of information and help I have gotten is enormous. Thank you.

I am in a tight situation here. I am going for my MS in Mech Engr and I have my visa interview already scheduled for Monday, 05/31/2021. However, my dept reached out to me on Thursday last week offering me a GA position in the department - someone else previously awarded had cancelled. However this is coming quite late and I reached out to my International Student Office on Friday to revise my I20 but I haven't heard back from them and it might be too late already, since my interview is tomorrow at Lagos. My GA offer letter from my department comes with full tuition waiver plus $21,000 salary for 1 year employment, leaving me with about $3k deficit. My mother will sponsor the remaining deficit.

Is it advisable to go with my GA offer letter to my interview as proof of my GA funding? Has anyone been in this situation before?

I did expedition few minutes ago and it was approved immediately, and I have rescheduled
My initial date was tor September 9 nd school resumes August so I rescheduled to June 17th today
Plus dates are still available from 14th June as at this morning I just picked 17th because I didn’t want to pick Monday
Location of embassy is ABUJA
before you change location it’s better to be sure of dates before you change o


Hey Boss! You mean, you’d your expedition and was accepted/approved before the initial “60days before your resumption”? Please, help clear it. Like, my resumption is first week of August and I’m get to chose a date because no date avail before my resumption day/date yet. Yeah, Abuja!

I need your advice please. The duration of my my program as written on my i20 is from August 16 2021 to May 30, 2026. While filling DS-160 form, I wrote the duration to be 5 years instead instead of 4 years, 9 months. Hope this won't be an issue. I am yet to submit my Ds160

It cannot be changed. They do not know why SEVIS made it that way. The CIP code for Engineering Physics is 40.0801 which is also considered to be "Physics, General"
*This is the information that must be in SEVIS. For some reason, SEVIS considers 40.0801 to be "Physics, General." It is okay that the name does not exactly match up with the name of your program because the CIP code matches. It is correct and cannot be changed to anything else*.

Started the DS-160 but haven’t completed it and I’m trying to quickly pay visa fee and hustle for appointment date right now.

Well, that depends on the profile. If your profile shows professional experience and/or your program is so much interesting, a loan will not stop your Visa. There are a lot of people who got their visa with private loans like ProdigyFinance and Mpower...

OK thank you for this, so what about students loan? Will using international loan companies like mpower work if the loan is approved?

Sincerely, the best idea is a ‘running account’. Like, Open a new account and deposit the said amount ke? No na. Think about it again, it doesn’t sound right. Me, that I’m not the VO sef would think, after I give this one visa him go, go commot the money and close account then, enter USA and Japa. Like, a running account speaks a lot, Like, vo go even see say “this guy money no be today; see in and out flows”. E CHOKE for him side.

Wait sef, some schools would even tell you to provide a sponsor and tell the bank to fill a section of the longevity (year the account was opened) of the account and average inflow per and each months of the school requirement (mostly last 3months). Just so you know, new account won’t help.

Hello everyone, please I need an advice urgently, I got admitted for Masters in the US with partial funding but I'm meant to provide proof of funds that covers the rest of total expenses. Is it wise to open a new bank account in my name and deposit the total money there and print the statement? Will it be accepted by the embassy as I am aware I cannot use an uncle or aunt's account statement. Whats the best idea to go about providing a proof of funds. Please I am having issues uploading a photo. It is saying it doesn’t not meet requirements. What can I do. I tried taking it at home and editing myself but it still did not accept it. I also went to a photographer. No luck there too. It is saying image not accepted due to compression artifacts or image is overly compressed.
