Please guys I got delayed in Abuja and I changed to Lagos to get a new appointment date for my interview! I have paid for another MRV and fill a new ds-160.I applied for Emergency date since on Monday and uptill now no response from them.I used the same cgi that I used for Abuja for Lagos.l hope that’s not the reason why I haven’t got a response from them.Your advice is needed gurus in the house.
The same CGI is not the problem. Since you already know ays updated the account with the new receipt ID and changes the location to Lag.

To be sincere with you, there is no closer date available in Lag embassy atm, also coming from the fact that you’re denied weeks ago, it might be hard to get date because even regular date (people have hat have not been denied before) seekers in lag are still on the queue ‘looking for date’.

Don’t forget i said Hard not Impossible. So, still keep following up.

Goodluck!

Please any idea of schools in USA that accept 3rd class for masters student, had 3rd class in biochemistry with 325 gre score. Please I will appreciate advices and directives
In the USA, you use the actual point on the of which it is. E.g 2. something / 5. something. With that ‘we’ will know what to advise you on.

That aside, with a low CGPA, you can easily do RESULT EVALUATION to USA STANDARD which the final result would be a scale of 4.0. Most schools there works on 4.0 scale (most not all).

That also aside, you can and should write out your mind and soul out inside your STATEMENT OF PURPOSE/INTENT on how and why you had a low CGPA during your UG, and how you go about beating that now with a high GRE score and so on (you detailed working experience on your CV) etc.

Shalom!

Please if my I-20 form indicate is my sister in the U.S that is sponsoring me, Is it ideal for her surname to be the same with mine to make the V.O believe that we are related?
I20 doesn’t indicate the sponsor location.

It’s when asked “Who is your sponsor?” that you give details of who she is and to you. E.g, My sponsor is Mrs ABC who is my sister, she works and has so so.

Ofc, you can’t tell me someone is your sister and your surname doesn't correlate, unless she is married sha.

Hi guys I got denied under section 214b at Abuja embassy on Nov 4th.
Heres my transcript and I will be deferring my admission to properly restructure for new interview.
Vo: After greetings with the Mr Korean.
He asked me where I'm going to study.
Me: University of Findlay.
Vo: which course
Me: masters of science in environmental safety and health management.
Vo: I see you have funding how will you cover the deficit
Me: my uncle is gonna pay for me he works at yzx
VO: have you travel out of the country
Me: Yes.
He handed me the blue paper.

My observations are: I indicated that I'm single, & my last job was in Dubai which I recently quit because I have to come to Nigeria for visa. So this shows that I don't have strong ties in Nigeria like wife, job or investment.
Now in my next application for visa I want to indicate that I have married within the last 4 month, I have 7 siblings & my parents and I have a new job with my salary like $1400k & will change my sponsor to my father from my uncle or can I use a company as a sponsor with the agreement of deducting 30% from my salary after coming back? Kindly advise me thank you
“Please tell this person not to complicate his profile by lying he his married but believe this is not about him but the VO another VO might listen differently”....

My sis profile is still showing ‘scheduled’ for an appointment she had on 15th December which was denied.

She is trying to book another and can’t get a date. I hope the status update is not a hinderance though?
She should just go to “Update” and update her new visa fee receipt ID. With that, she should be seeing new dates available for her.

please if I filled that I wasn’t employed in my previous DS160 and I was interviewed today 8th of November and I I want to fill another DS-160 for reapplication can I say that I’ve been employed since 2019.

Do they have records of it.

Kindly answer
“ He can obviously say he has been employed, and that is the reason why it took him some time to reapply again because he really wanted to get a strong foot in the employ and build relationships which he succeeded in getting. And that he has been assured a place there on his return from studies.”

Good day everyone, I decided to join the almighty US students group. I say this because I have always felt it’s impossible to get a US visa as a single person either to school or something else. Well I have been able to read a few testimonies here and I’m impressed. Congratulations to all who got their visas.

I honestly know nothing or where to begin, but I’d appreciate if anyone can help me with affordable schools to check and apply to for the spring semester. Schools that won’t require proficiency test or GRE for Nigerians. I already have a sponsor since sponsorship works for US. I didn’t know this before now. Thank you
“ HOW TO SEARCH AND FIND GOOD SCHOOLS FOR YOUR PROFILE.

1 Google is the first place to start. And cost of attendance and profile of the school should be on your mind as you begin. First, you want to go to a school your sponsor can afford. Secondly, you want to be considered for funding that will come with monthly stipend to offset living expenses, so that you will not worry how to survive (especially if you can't get adequate support from home while in the U.S). Thirdly, you want to study at a school that offers courses that will equip and prepare you for the next phase of your career. You need specialty, broad knowledge, internship opportunity, etc. Remember, I am talking to students who genuinely want to study in the United States and are willing to do the work. Now, the three points should be in mind before you begin your school search.

1a, Be creative about it. Use search strings that is worded with your wants, i.e affordability, funding, good course., etc. Let me give you a list:
AFFORDABLE UNIVERSITIES IN THE U.S FOR MASTER'S IN CHEMISTRY (For blog posts and sites that catalogue affordable schools for chemistry).
BEST UNIVERSITIES IN THE U.S FOR MASTER'S IN AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS (For top ranking, research-driven universities for the mentioned course)
UNIVERSITIES IN THE U.S WITH ASSISTANTSHIP FOR MASTER'S IN MATHEMATICS (For schools offering assistantship for mathematics).

As you would see, search string contains what you want Google to show you, and that is what you will see. The more creative you're, the better. Your search result will bring up blog posts and sites that discuss and list universities for what you want. Then, you visit site by site, and from there, make a list of the schools you see, and keep away. When you are done, visit those schools one by one. You could make a list of 20 schools, or as much as you want.

1b, Get your schools by choice of U.S States. If you were to go to the U.S which state would you like to study? California? Texas? New York? Tennessee? Etc! Select best 3 states of your choice or that you have a family member or friends.
Go to Google and type, for example, ALL UNIVERSITIES IN TEXAS. Google will bring up sites and blog posts with list of these schools. I advise you look for Wikipedia page for all the schools on the list. As a study-abroad consultant, Wikipedia page for all schools in each U.S state seems the most resourcesful. There, private and public schools in the state you search is catalogued, so you get to see list of public and private schools in that state. You see their acceptance rate as well. All you do is open those schools in new tab, then read about it and get the school website directly from them. It is simple, except you are not computer literate.

2, CHECKING FOR ASSISTANTSHIP: When you open the school webiste, go straight to academic and you will see undergraduate and graduate programs. It is always under academic. Click the one that applies. Check list of programs offered and pick the program (s) you are interested in. Check program courses, and look for assistantship/scholarship. Every program page has information for assistantship/scholarship. If your master's program department offers assistantship, you will see the information there. Read it and understand condition for selection. If that school is okay, make a list on a paper and keep. You can do for as many as you want.

2a, Immediately you review your program webpage, look for the "Graduate Coordinator" or "Program Director". These are the faculty members with information on funding. Your duty is to contact each school before you even apply to them. I always advise my students to contact their program coordinator before they apply. Get the email and name of this person. Take your time to write a 3-5 paragram message detailing your course, undergraduate GPA, that you are interested in the program for so, so admission term, and that "what is the chances of being selected for a graduate assistantship or departmental scholarship if admitted into the program."

ALWAYS CONTACT YOUR POTENTIAL SCHOOL BEFORE YOU APPLY THERE.

2b, If you compose your message well, your program coordinator will be compelled to tell you what is obtainable according to your profile, GPA, experience, etc. They always tell you what is obtainable. You can then use this information to decide if you will apply or not. In December last year, a student followed these step and the two schools he contacted promised --right in their response to her message--that based on his profile, if he apply, he will be considered for admission and assistantship. He did, and both schools admitted him and offered him assistantship. He got his visa last month with deficit of $1K.

If the response from the person in charge of department seems favourable, go ahead and apply right away. The earlier, the better for you.

2c, Don't underestimate your potential of getting into top schools. Explore those too. Make a budget on how many schools you plan to apply to. Be principled about it. Be creative. Use initiative and push yourself and do your thing.”

Good morning people
I have a question, I was denied an F1 visa in June, but I later got admitted to another school, and reapplied for another visa, I noticed that when I was applying for the first visa, it asked for my sevis id for the school I wanted to attend then, but now that I am going for a new school, I tried changing the sevis to the new school but I can't find it on the update profile section of the portal, what can I do, or it doesn't mean anything?
P. S: I already scheduled an appointment. Thank you.
You’re to transfer your sevis id inform to the new school. You do that, by going to the sevis site and following up the transfer info there or mailing them.

Good evening house,

I want to take GRE by December but am not sure of how to prepare adequately and this had been giving sleepless night.

The worst part if it is that I currently work for approximately 10hrs/day and 6days/week.

Please who knows any good study center in Ikeja I can entroll with.

Please
Below is a friend’s (NOT MINE) GRE success story, maybe it might help.

“So I started preparing for my GRE for a long time oo... There would be a time I will be ready to write but couldn't afford the fee. So I don't know how long it took me to prepare but just know I had more than six months. I supposed to have written it on 24th of September, unfortunately there was little or no power supply at all in my area almost throughout the month, so I could not do all the practice tests and the revisions I had hope to do before the exam, I decided to move it to Oct 20th.

Materials I used....

Quant

6 books of Manhattan (read them atleast twice)
All the official guide guant ( I had the hard copy of the official guide second edition, so I read this one more than I can remember)
Nova math Bible ( my spirit did not work well with this book honestly at the beginning it was cool, later I no come de understand anything for the book so I left it in peace)
All magoosh videos including practice questions ( I watched some as many times as I needed)
5Ib Manhattan practice ( did not finish this book but took my time to go through explanations of both the questions I did and the ones I did not look at)

For verbal
All official guides
GreMat ( subscribed for 4 months)
All magoosh premium videos
Magoosh 1000 words
333 high frequency words
Kaplan RC

Did about 5 practice test

Kaplan
Verbal 155
Quant 158
Princeton
Verbal =164
Quant = 156
Manhattan
Verbal = 160
Quant 162
Power prep2
Verbal 161
Quant = 160

The real exam was in form VQVQV
GRE Raw score
Verbal 169
Quant 166

My personal advise:

I was never good at the beginning... I failed some basic questions in quant and verbal... In fact, sometimes I cried at my progress like I was forgetful.. but I kept pushing... Started studying at midnight and all.. I just want to say that with determination and God all things are possible.
Keep pushing yourself.“

latosolorunwa:
Hello guys,
I need your help on this following items:
1. How much is savis fee?
2. What are the likely questions for f1 visa.
1. $359.9

2. The VO is only interested in 3 things.

Question 1. You are really going there to study, and you are qualified to do so.
Question 2. You will return after your academic program.
Question 3. You can afford the program.
*all questions asked are often linked to the three things outlined above.

*Likely Questions*
1.Why did you choose X university? - This answers question 1.
Keep your answer short and impactful, say something specific about the university (link it to yourself) and be honest. They can also ask this question in the form of "Why are you studying in the US?”.
*Note*: They can also ask specific questions about your school or city, especially if you give the impression that you are familiar with them.

2. How many universities did you apply to? - Be honest here, it also helps to answer question 1. You might also use the answer to this to answer the “Why did you choose X university?” question by saying why you chose X school over the other option(s).

3. Who is sponsoring you? - This answers question 3.
Follow up questions might follow, they will address:
a. Your relationship to the sponsor.
b. Their financial capability (This is often asked in the form of "what does your sponsor do?"wink.
c. The sponsor’s willingness to sponsor you .
Give them any documents requested, you can make your sponsor write a letter to the embassy and take it along.

4. How many siblings do you have? - It answers question 3.
If you have siblings (or if your sponsor has kids), they will consider how much it will take to take care of them while they are evaluating the financial documents. A follow-up question can be "what do your siblings do?".
This can also be a form of home-tie and it answers question 2.

5. Do you have any relatives in the US? - This is for Question 2.
Be truthful! They are likely to have this information in their records. People with close relatives in the US are somewhat likely to stay behind.
However, this is not a criteria and they'll ask something else to investigate further.

6. Why don't you do this course in your country? - This answers number 1 and 2 simultaneously. Coming up with an honest and convincing answer to this should not be hard.

7. What will you do after you complete your program? - This answers question 2.
The VO wants to know if the purpose of your visit is to stay back in the US or study temporarily.
You can also propose how you can use what you learn to benefit yourself (or the society) in Nigeria.
Remember! you are applying for a temporary non-immigrant visa; not a work or "live in America" visa. Do not suggest to the VO that you plan to stay back, it is not a good look.

* The VO might also try to gist with you and ask for other details. Gist back and smile with them, be comfortable, tell a joke (if you can) and flow well.

The interview moves very fast, and it is a short process. No shaking!

Good luck!
