charliesyndrom:
As part of the docs needed for a german student visa, what birth cert is needed for applicants that were born before 1992. They wrote that NPC birth cert is for applicants born after 1992 but they did not state that which is required for applicants born after before 1992. Can the one issued at the hospital during birth suffice?
Birth certificate is needed in Nigeria? Maybe a sworn affidavit might help. But why would a birth certificate at any time be unsuitable?

Hi fams.
I arrived Cologne, Germany yesterday morning from Dubai-Bahrain-Frankfurt using Gulf Air. The flight was nice and no time wasting from takeoff in Dubai DXB Terminal 3 to Frankfurt Terminal 1. The Germany border control police did not seemed to care about COVID-19 Negative result neither did the Gulf Air in Dubai.
I have been continuing my lectures in my self-quarantine. Inside is warm with the heater/oven while out there is cold between 4-7 degrees celcius.

For those who will be travelling from the Gulf Region, please use Gulf Air if you don't have much money as their prices to Germany and France are quite cheap about 45% cheaper than Fly Emirates and KLM.
When arriving at the airport, make the following handy:
1. Passport
2. Enrolment certificate
3. Required letter of presence (mine was never asked for)
4. Boarding pass slip
5. For Germany, Digital Entry Registration printout
6. Read about prohibited items in Schengen countries.

Thank you.

but, I read here on nairaland that not all schools accepts a high court authentication, than it is always safer to authenticate at the embassy.
Read the REQUIREMENTS of the School very carefully. Sometimes ask another person to help interpret.

who will get me understand this please?
According to new regulations, your blocked account amount should be 853X12=10,236€. It must not be less than this amount and not reasonably too high.
My advise, keep it between 10,425-11,000 €

In addition to your PCR, you need to fill this digital form.

https://www.einreiseanmeldung.de/

You may recieve a printout of the form in-flight, but i think it's safe to fill it digitally.
You'll be asked if you did it at the immigration control.

This was as of 15-11-2020.

Keep checking around for possible changes until you travel

Also PCR shouldn't be more than 48hrs old.
Thank you for the information. I check latest covid-19 regulations daily on the embassy site and the state's website. You seemed to have arrived Germany in the past week. Tell me about the flight options.
The kind of ticket prices are scary.

Do I need to book an appointment before going to the embassy? or i can't just walk in there anytime next week to do the authentication.

What's the process like
There's information on this on the website. I advise you check too.

Nice one ...please have you started your course already online?did you submit letter of presence as well..
Course began in Nov 2. And so far its been Zoom meetings and other school e-resources centres.
The letter of required presence was requested for by the embassy in Dubai before they issued a date.
It's been really challenging though.

Thank you.

please, how easy is it to get admitted for a masters degree program in Germany with a second class lower result in your Bachelors degree.
Fairly easy with low ranked schools (this shouldn't affect the quality of education you will receive though) and apply for a course directly related to your undergraduate course.
Then, write an impressive motivation letter.

Also please where should I apply to the school? Is it through school website or uni—assist?
It depends. Some schools 'contracts' out handling of documents and qualifications to uni-assist, these are listed as uni-assist schools while others handles the entire admission process themselves.
Uni-assist charges 75 EUR per application as handling charges and if you apply to multiple schools, they will charge additional fees less than 75 EUR (30-40 EUR I guess). Applications handled by the University directly are usually free. However, final decision on your application is made by the school and not uni-assist.

On the website there is a ? symbol close to that field. Click on it and see the explanation of the meaning of DoSV courses which might not be relevant to you and better just leave it.

Arden University Berlin

Please I need information about this school.
They just offered me Msc admission and I am to pay holding fee 1000 Euros in 14 days.
I'm skeptical because of past experiences.
German Universities do not ask for any money usually except enrollment/social fees usually between 250-300 EUR. Look again and probably try other schools.

I handed over my passport, health insurance (Mawista) to the Germany embassy today here in Dubai and would be ready for collection on Monday morning.
I first sent an email for appointment on Sept 11, got a reply Sept 13 with appointment for Oct 7, and a decision mail Nov 3.
The problem is not our nationality but our Nigeria as a place!
It's sad and I pray you get the visa before scheduled exams for Winter 2020. A mate from Vietnam also got approval yesterday after applying in Sept.

Keep hopes alive!

Hey Hadampson, I want to ask where you learned to speak German proficiently. I downloaded a German tutorial YouTube video but I’m not sure it can teach me all the rudiments of the language even though its an hour and a half long.

Did you perhaps learn it on some website or something?
Download Duolingo app and keep using it. It would help in words recognition.

My course at University of Cologne had planned to be hybrid but yesterday, I got the timetable and an email that classes are set to be online due to the increasingly difficult situation.
Here are my concerns:
I have been sent a Letter of Required Presence much earlier which I also submitted at the embassy as part of my application documents. My interview was 7th October but with this change in mode of study, I hope it doesn't result in denial as I am yet to hear from the embassy.

Kindly advise.

HI Guys, I was just referred to this thread and it is great.

Well done guys.

Please i have a question, i have checked a couple of schools offering my masters in Daad.de and saw alot of them free. Master in Maths of finance.

However, i want to ask of you can still get scholarships covering the stipulated living expenses and other expenses despite the fact that the tuition is zero.

Also i saw that most requirement is "above average degree', does that mean 2:1 can apply and have good chances of securing the admission?

Thanks.
You can still apply for scholarships for living expenses, they are often small but would go a long way.
A 2:1 is good to get the admission unless it's very competitive and had lots of applicants (which is unlikely at PG levels). To buttress your chances, have a great motivation letter.
