victor5996:Same obligation letter should take you through the validity of your residence permit (1, 2 or 3 years) when issued depending on the rule that applies to your city of residence. This means that you will also be using the letter for your residence permit application. BTW, I did not use obligation/sponsorship letter. |
Emman2903:Clarified! |
Emman2903:Rejection letters; yet according to you, there were no ADs issued. Rejection letters to who? |
Stiflersammy:I used DHL recently, 18,900+ NGN from Delta State, Express. What do you want to mail? Original document(s)? |
shawnmich:Do you think that they are 'exploiting' Nigerians? How much have you paid to the embassy for a service you never got? Visa interview appointment is free, University applications are free unless for uni-assist schools, and you have a chance to defend your case anyhow during the interview. Visa denials or rejections are not even instant in most cases provided you do well during the interview compared to the UK that doesn't given you an opportunity to explain yourself. In my opinion, I don't think so though. BTW, it is 'swear' not 'swell'. |
I cannot totally trust the European government and their Commissions but then, we are the ones who approached them. They issued requirements for us all and not compulsion. The blocked account funds is to help many of us with INITIAL living expenses and to secure their country at least. To be honest, Germany is very fair to foreign students. You transport round your University State without a fee or ticket on Regional Trains because of the semester fee you paid, your rights are protected and you can have a fair ground too. My advise is that before you go ahead to block your account, you must have received an appointment (e)mail especially in Nigeria where you have up to one week to prepare. If not for the unnecessary long processing time of Form A, Fintiba will not take 5 working days. If there's anyone who wants to collect their money back from Fintiba, the best way to contact them is phone call and make sure you have your passport number handy (I can help you call if we arrange for it so you can speak to their support staff. I don't think in this kind of situation, you'll need any letter from the embassy to retrieve your money. |
Emman2903:Keep hope alive. There are still a few 'ordinary people' getting appointment dates in Cat B. My course mate had interview in March although still awaiting decision from the embassy. She's in the second semester by the way and courses have been online so far. |
OdogwuEkeke:Police report is no problem. |
henrycare53:Na big man like you budget be this o. Anyways, let us know how deep is your pocket and what you can spend or flex. Talk to @Henrycares for big man budget, or talk to me or any other person for honest alternative opinion. |
Fatalveli:Living like adult students in a shared ROOM (usually 6-8 persons per room) will cost between 40-60k per month also depending on the area (Deira, Satwa, all industrial areas; Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaima- the poorest Emirates are cheaper than Al Ain, Dubai-Marina and Downtown, Al Nahda (in Sharjah) is also cool in price if you can find guys to share a room in a flat with because that is better and you can share the average rent of 2000-2500 AED among yourselves. All of these depends on whether you want to work or to 'live' in the UAE. Difference dey o. |
Adede7:This is interesting to read. The reason I said they should look into it. Nice analytics! In every EU member country, the rule is the same on employment of citizens first, EU members second, and any other migrants in order of relationship and 'need'. In Germany, they would prefer asylum seekers first, in order to integrate them into the system and minimise the amount they spend taking care of their house rents, health insurance and feeding stipends running over 700 EUR per month! |
Fatalveli:N.B: You stay in any of the Emirates (states) of UAE for 6 months doesn't grant you residence permit. To get to UAE, you need a 90 days tourist visa that might cost up to 150-200K. You can find flight fees (RETURN/TWO-WAY) for yourself but before lockdown, Airpeace will fly you for about 200k for flexi economy and a few other airlines with stops were a little cheaper. Upon arrival, you get a sponsor to make your residence permit/Emirates ID and this can be done through employment, 'arranged' employment or freelance/self (which means you're not under any employment or you are a freelancer. The UAE is currently capitalising on the work from home strategy to manage the pandemic by offering people residence permit but are not necessarily working for anyone in the UAE. In all, your options are limited if you don't have the money, rather, you can just go to any English speaking ECOWAS country, stay there and obtain their permit. UAE will definitely cost you up to 500k for a job seeking option and about 1.2m for freelance. |
Seems Germany embassy situation in Nigeria has not improved. Can some of you look at Switzerland? I spoke with my Swiss neighbour today, he's told me about studies in Switzerland is about 800 Swiss Franc per semester equivalent to almost 800 EUR too although living expenses is high, the wages for working students is high too about 20 EUR per hour and a student can afford the 800 EUR semester fee, 400 EUR apartment (approximately). I do not know further details but interested persons can find a thread on it here on Nairaland.com or other sources. |
If you have to send your applications by post to your universities of your choice, you can message me so we can discuss how to make it cheaper and perhaps faster. |
Ekessy:It's not listed in their requirements at the Dubai Embassy which I know of. But in Nigeria, I will not be surprised. Generally, it is not needed not at any postgraduate level particularly Ph.D. Technically, that is the job of the Universities and the embassy should be concerned with security issues, falsification or misinformation by the applicant, and they do this by simply contacting the awarding institutions, and physical visit to permanent and institution addresses. You should be concerned more about your referees (if used during application), research claims and work organisation. |
Duisburg:I think the application is online and only interview (if they do) will be physical in their visa section of their embassy. But then, you want to leave Nigeria for study and you do not wish to travel for your own visa application process? Or personally Google visa application mode and visa requirements? |
abdquadr:I agree with you but I don't understand what you mean above. The moment your application for residence permit anywhere is granted, you are no longer a tourist but a resident. |
Moderna:If you apply THROUGH uni-assist to different schools or different courses, you have to write INDIVIDUAL Motivation Letters to EACH school and/or course. There is no, ONE SIZE FITS ALL when it comes to motivation letter. When you write the Motivation Letter, rename each according to the course and school before uploading it on your uniassist portal. E.g. ML_BIOLOGY_UNI ZU KÖLN, ML_PHYSIOLOGY_UNI BREMEN... It is the responsibility of uni-assist to sort out which motivation letter for each school and/or course PROVIDED they are WELL NAMED. That's why you paid for handling fees. |
Duisburg:No! You MUST be RESIDENT in any country from which you want to apply for a visa. A tourist is a guest. |
OdogwuEkeke:You are right in most parts, but let me add these: 1. Since your mission is to have a residence permit for Germany embassy application, find out the kind of WORK CONTRACT your employer is offering you. 2. There are 2 types of work contract viz Limited and Unlimited. You can cancel unlimited contract at will, without any Labour Laws infringement, so also you can be sacked. If your contract is limited, you will have to pay your employer 45 days wage and if your employer likes, can recommend you for ban, i.e. you will not be able to work in the UAE for a period. 3. It is illegal for your employer to hold on to your passport IF and ONLY IF you demand for it and s/he refused. You can report and press charges. You can't hold someone else's national ID for any reason when you are not a 'flight risk' person or suspect. Although, employers holding worker's passport is a common thing that have been 'normalised' because most workers don't demand for it nor oppose it. The only occasions my passport was with my employer were when he took it to the Immigration for stamping after employment and when he took it back to immigration for cancellation when I resigned. |

Means of sustenance could EITHER BE 1. Scholarship 2. Blocked Account or 3. Sponsorship Letter. |
myright:If the scholarship covers living expenses or stipends equivalent to 861 EUR monthly, you may not have to bother. But if its a Nigerian government scholarship, you should have a Blocked Account for your own safety or have a financial plan B. But you can ask the consular office via email or randomly email other country's consular office because Nigeria office may not be responsive but the rule is same for all non-EU nationals. |
Zonal Election in a single party, PDP. Total number of delegates according to the result is meagre 673 votes yet there was over voting! Our politicians are all clowns. |
Emman2903:I will advise those that can afford it to leave Nigeria to any other country, Gambia, Zambia, wherever speaks English and can travel to with Nigeria's passport, manage there, get residence permit and apply. For those that can afford other non-African countries, carry on. |
TOMSY:The number of staffs may be disproportionate to the number of applications and emails received. Other possible reasons would be TOO MANY enquiries made whereas the same information has been clearly stated on the website. Other reasons might be other than these. |
Gentleman001:Winter Semester Application should be April or May - June 15th for most schools and admission status notification is Aug-Sept. While Summer Semester usually closes in Jan. Not sure exactly when it starts, maybe November or December. |
Gentleman001:You can apply for different courses in the same school and/or different courses in different schools. Your 70 EUR is for one school per course application. Any other applications will be charged 30 EUR per application. E.g application for course XYZ at University of Cologne fee is 70 EUR handling fee. Additional application for course XXY at University of Cologne will be charged 30 EUR totalling 100 EUR. Application to ABC department, University of Bremen will also be charged 30 EUR. ETC... |
Gentleman001:Grade of 1. Class means first class. |
gjugcvbnu:I really don't know anything about Cat A and B. How about your read the Germany embassy in Nigeria website? |
tosinhtml: It did not kill me. But it kills the curiosity and knowledge of the person asking. I can go out of my way to assist anyone with what I can do no matter what as long as the person has shown a level of individual effort. I encourage everyone to first attempt to do individual information finding and seek further information as a potential student who wants to study abroad. The information are not hidden in dark Web! I had offered to guide some persons for free through every process provided the persons demonstrate a level of interest, dedication and hard work to it and a couple of them said "please just help me from the beginning to the end". This is an event that will shape our lives probably forever and we are not wanting to put some personal effort as young people? |
