ROSSIKE: You are beyond stu.pid and ignorant. For the millions of homeless Americans sleeping rough tonight, there's no luxury of ''comparing America to Nigeria''. Many of them would wish they were in Nigeria living the kind of life millions of Nigerians live, as opposed to sleeping rough on the streets and begging for 'spare change'. So take your demented rubbish and get lost from this place. Not every Nigerian is sitting around ooing and aahing over America as you seem to think.Relax my friend. Cheers. |
ROSSIKE: Maybe you think I'm a semi-literate, ignorant tout like you. I'm not. Perhaps you care to dispute any point I made above so I can drown your empty brain with empirical evidence. It is embarrassing watching attempt to compare Nigeria to the U.S. Like I said compare Nigeria to its peers: Togo, Ghana, South Africa, Ethiopia etc... How do you compare heaven to hell? I wont even entertain your ridiculousness. Cheers my friend. |
ROSSIKE: In the American economy and society you have millions of homeless beggars, broken families, and drugs/gun-ridden communities. How in the world a person thats living in Nigeria can be talking shiit about U.S? How does that work? relax my friend you are in no position to talk any kind of shiit. Compare Nigeria to Ghana, Togo, Ethiopia, Sudan, etc... |
DerideGull: What has your Obama done not to be compared with what Jonathan has done? Are you not the same person who wrote that United States of America and Nigeria are not in the same league? One wonders what spurred your skewed comparative analysis between Obama and Jonathan.Nigeria is not even in the same economic league with California, Texas, or New York, talk less of the whole U.S. Sit down my friend. cheers |
Ngwakwe: Not so fast, even the Obamas' dog Bo costs the taxpayer thousands of dollars - his handler is reportedly paid over $100,000 a year. The United States and Nigeria are not in the same league. It is an insult to Obama to compare what he does to Jonathan. The U.S gov does plenty for it's citizens . |
Longest journey I have ever done lasted 8 months. Started from San Diego, Ca. Stopped at Hawaii for about 4 days, then left and spent 3 days in Saipan. After that, we spent 4 days in Guam. Spent 3 days in the Philippines and then 1 wonderful week in Hong Kong. Left Hong Kong and spent 5 days in Singapore, then 3 days in India. From India to our destination Irag, I think we must have spent about 6 months in Iraq or something like that. Turned around to head back to the united states but stopped at Bahrain, then Dubai, before we left the Gulf but passed through the Suez canal that splits Egypt and Isreal while exiting the gulf. Then we spent 5 days in Malta, Italy, then Gibraltar. Then passed through Panama canal and voila home sweet home. Man we actually stopped at more countries but i cant remember them all. here is a pic of my world cruise jacket that i bought during the cruise it doesn't have all the countries we stopped at because they wanted to charge me an extra 130 dollars to put them all. ^^^ hmm interesting. |
You said "pictures of Ibadan airport OMG" then you used Linda.ikeji a gist/rumor blog as your source, why? There are many things in these pictures that makes me doubt that this is an airport at all. First, there is not a single plane, hanger bay, runway, or any indication that this is an airport in sight. Second, those men sitting outside with luggages look like they are waiting for a bus to take them somewhere (maybe to the airport). Last, the person that took these pics took them in his or her car. this indicates that this person was probably a traveller that saw people sitting with luggages and assumed that it must have been an airport so he or she decided to pull over and take pics with that assumption. Linda.ikeji is not a good source to use |
Nigeria is a fvucking jungle. I cannot believe that after everything that has been said and discovered the governor still has a job. How in the world can the governor of a whole state detain someone against their will and not be arrested or at least fired? Everyone is going on like business as usual in Nigeria. The thing that separates humans from animals is the ability to reason. When human beings cannot reason they are no different from animals. Sadly this is the case of Nigeria: animalistic human beings that lack the ability to reason. |
First, you should start by putting your picture as your Nairaland profile picture. Second, be more active on Nairaland, Facebook, Twitter etc... to build a following. Third, have some kind of talent or at least be talented in pretending to have a talent. Forth, be popular with the ladies (this will go a long way). Fifth, start building connections. You yourself don't necessarily have to know people but you won't make it if you don't know people that know people. good luck with your endeavor |
Politics is a game best played by diplomatic and cunning individuals. It seems to me like Goodluck Jonathan and PDP were used to handling things with brute force. Now that this very messy situation will not go away with brute force, they do not know how to be cunning or diplomatic. Politics is a game best played by diplomatic and cunning individuals. My people in the South East would say "Agba nsị nkịtị ọ n?esi usi." Goodluck Jonathan and PDP are in for a world of hurt. |
I have a cousin in Ado, Ekiti who wants to relocate to the U.S. The problem is that he is coming on a 6 month company sponsored visa for training. He has wife and kid in Nigeria so he is worried that if he stays here illegally he won't get to see them again for a long time. But if he stays here and everything works out he will be making a lot of money with his degree. So should I advice him to stay? Or? Thanks. |
You are comparing apple to orange. In South Sudan you have two different ethnic groups: Nuers and Dinkas fighting each other. The president who is a Dinka, fired the vice president who is a Nuer, so the Nuers who are loyal to the vice president are angry about this and are seeking some kind of revenge. If Nigeria breaks up( which i really doubt), this type of thing would never happen. For every South Sudan, there are plenty of other countries that have broken up and doing just fine. |
faakay: Mr knowitallLet me finish my class and things like that and I'll give you a response very soon |

adconline: Good analysis, but you omitted " time value" of money..ie $98k is not going to make any money until after 5 years and there is no guarantee of a job. Also, a $10k boutique with $16k profit per/yr is 160% ROI. Also, $44k after a college degree means that you are making $44k out of $98k which is about 45% ROI, the a 5-yr spread when u didn't make any money will mean about a mere 9% ROI on $98k. Also, your house as an appreciable asset, could have added another $30k in value.i.e $6k/yr in NaijaThat is why i said that there are more variables to the equation. I could have broken it down year by year but it would have been way too much. But ultimately selling his properties and coming to the U.S was the best choice. |
ogakpatakpata: @knowitall.............always on point with your analysis.............did you major in accounting/business management? My friend how things on your side? Am a business admin/Global business major. |
Most Nigerians sell their properties to travel abroad because the rate of returns for their time, effort, investment, education etc... is much better abroad. Also, there are other factors you have to add to the equation: security, emergency service, stability, etc... For example, lets say that your friends car was worth $8,000, his house was worth $80,000, and his boutique was worth $10,000. Now lets assume your friend's boutique was bringing in about $16,000 a year, and he spent about $15,000 to come to the United States. So your friend had a minimum of $98,000 minus the $15,000 he spent on coming to the United States, so the moment your friend lands in the U.S he has $83,000 to invest in his future. Because your friend was making $16,000 a year in Nigeria from his boutique, every year he Spense in the U.S, he would have to make at least that much to at least justify why he left Nigeria. But since he had $83,000 cash on hand, you will have to divide the $83,000 by $16,000 he was making yearly in Nigeria so this gives him a 5 year head start. Every dollar your friend makes in those five year is a surplus. If anytime within those five years your friend gets a four year degree or some kind of technical training and starts making $44,000 a year, your friend would be consider a brilliant investor. In fact, he could even go back to Nigeria an use his degree to work and make more money than he would had made running the boutique. There are more variables to the equation but this is just a break down i guess. |
shymexx: Fam, shut the fvck up and go fvck yourself.relax my friend. |
Horus: And where is your country? my country i a great county my friend. |
shymexx: @MrDumbItAllPeople with very little intelligent have to resort to insults when having an argument. Relax my friend and try and educate yourself a little more. |
You did not really state how GEJ will be the catalyst of change in Nigeria. You have some reasons why he could but now how. |
China has arrived? Arrived where to the 1950s? The first unmanned mission to land on the moon was done by the Soviet union in 1959. The first manned mission to land on the moon was done by the United States In 1969. China is more than 50 years behind and you are saying they have arrived? Don't be silly. The United states left the moon 40 years ago and are now on Mars and planning how to put a man on Mars. China is still very much a developing country the vast majority of it's citizens live well below poverty line. |
^^^ What do you mean? How am I obsessed? |
Afam4eva: I think this is one country that the US needs to invade and i support this more than ever before. Why are you calling on the U.S to invade North Korea? Why cant Nigeria do it? |
If am ever dumbb enough to travel to North Korea out of my own stupidity and get jailed and sentenced to execution, I ask American and Nigerian people to have no pity on me. |
1. Are you satisfied with your current career in Nigeria, or will you be more satisfied with your potential career in the new place you want to go. Chances are if you are making a good living in Nigeria you could be making a great living somewhere else. 2. How much disposable cash you have on hand, and should you invest it at home (Nigeria) or your potential new place. There is a reason why the people in the South East region leave their home by the masses to invest their money in other parts of Nigeria:they know they will get more for their investments. A true business man or woman leaves sentiments out of business and strives to make the maxim profit. 3. The state of security in Nigeria. Nigeria is enjoying a relative state of security right now but 2015 elections is coming up so it might be a good idea to invest your money in other countries just in case. 4. Will your children be able to reach their maxim potential in Nigeria or your potential new home. Children's future is arguably the most important thing in this world. But for children to flourish and reach their maximum potential, they need stability, security, and great education. ASUU has been striking for more than five months now, I don't think i need to say anymore than that. 5. Retirement. If you stay in Nigeria, will you have to work until you die, or worst, have to depend on your children's income to take care of you? No one should work until they die, and no one you depend on their children to take care of them. You should always save enough money to take care of yourself at old age because if you don't, you will put a lot of unnecessary burden on your children. These are some fundamental questions you should ask yourself when deciding whether to stay or leave Nigeria. I will add that your best bet is to pack your things and jump on a bus. Au revoir. |
jelmusboy: Mr Knowitall, This is how to get to Douala Cameroon from Lagos by road if you are driving.

You understand that this is a forum right? You spend your precious megabytes and electricity on this forum on your own free will. Lol why should seun or his moderators reimburse you for visiting nairaland? Lol dont be silly. You actually made some good points with your complaints but you messed it up by trying to gain sympathy for coming here. I actually agree with you that banning doesn't make sense it causes people to create 2 or more usernames. well maybe one or two hour ban not 200 years like sexkillz was doing. |
