Residents of Lagos en masse, yesterday, stormed the Dawis Central Mosque at Owode Onirin Bus stop along Ikorodu road after it was claimed that Muslim faithful continually spotted the ghosts of late clerics, Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass and Sheikh Jamiu Bulala at the mosque.

According to the President of Dawis, an Islamic organisation that own the mosque, Mukadam Samodu Ibrahim Onikoyi, news of the oddity started gathering momentum on Monday morning after a worshipper came to pray, although they have been seeing the image of a notable cleric since a month ago.

“For the past one month we have been seeing the opaque image of Sheikh Ibraheem Inyass in our mosque, we informed the founder of the organisation but he told us to remain quiet about so that people will not turn the environment to something else, and it is what we are afraid of that we are seeing today.

“Everything came to the public on Monday when a worker at the site came to the mosque to pray, after doing his ablution, even before entering the mosque properly he started seeing the strange spectre, then he shouted and called people around to come and see.”

One of the people who came to witness the occurrence, Fatai Abdulazeez, said he had to sqeeze himself through body of people to get into the mosque while claiming to have seen Sheikh Inyass on the wall inside. He said he also used the opportunity to say prayers as he believed every prayer he said at that moment shall be answered.

Intermittently, loud noise of proclamation of the greatness of Allah echoed from inside of the mosque and hen chorused by the massive crowd outside and in the vicinity, with the popular shout being Allahu Akbar (God is great).

A missionary with Dawis, Mukadam Shuaib Abdl-Ganiy, said: “A rare happening as such only goes to confirm the truthfulness of Islam as a religion that God is happy with and to remind us that we need to get closer to Allah because one day we shall give account of our deed here on earth.”
