For embassy's sake.
@Fidelia.john, Don't try it. Don't even go near it self. How will you say you want to Use Photocopy of Bank Statement to Embassy.

That will call for a Big DENIAL.

All documents E.g Transcripts from High school or University, Degree certificates, Admission letter, SAT, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, and other documents including your Bank Statement MUST be ORIGINAL to take to the Embassy to apply for your Visa.

Take the ORIGINALS with you to the Embassy NOT Photocopies oooo.

NB: The V.O will ask for your Original Bank Statement ooooo. So be prepared.

It's not difficult getting an Original Bank Statement. Just get a letter from your sponsor for him to write a request to the Bank, and take it to the Bank in other for them to print out his Original Bank Statement for you.

It's not expensive. I did mine for #900 for 3 pages at my sponsor's Bank and I collected it that same day within 20 minutes..

Hello guys, I greet you all..

I got accepted to Minnesota State University, Mankato, Last 2 weeks and I was asked to fill my i-20 request form.

I filled my i-20 request form and indicated a courier service to help me pick up my Package on the form.

Please I'm confused now, as I'm yet to receive my i-20 package, I have sent numerous emails to the school but no response.

Pls who in the house is experiencing the same issue with me or has experienced similar issue should pls advice me on wht to do next.

@Kunsoft, Yes you can present one in both
sides.

Like for Undergraduate you can present -
Either SAT or TOEFL.

For Graduate studies - Either GMAT or GRE or TOEFL.

For Graduate Science courses - Either GRE or TOEFL.

For Graduate Business courses - Either GMAT or
TOEFL.

Cheers Bro..

Kunsoft: No prob guys. Please I want to clearify this:

Is TOEFL FOR UNDERGRADUATE ALONE OR BOTH UNDERGRADUATE AND MASTERS?
To my own understanding toefl is strictly for undergraduate while gmat and gre is for masters. They guy is going for masters so I will advice gre and gmat.
Thanks
@Kunsoft, TOEFL is for both Undergraduate and Graduate students. Anyone can take it..
TOEFL is used to check your proficiency in English Language. So it is required for both undergraduate and masters students.

And also regarding your Second question;
GRE is for students who are majoring in Science Subjects.

While the GMAT is for students majoring in Business. Like Business School (MBA)

In other words, if he is a Science Student, he should do both GRE and TOEFL.

And if he his going for a Business course he should do both GMAT and TOEFL.

Hope you understand.

Cheers bro.

bigfrancis21: The person I directed my post at was Obsy2020, not Kunsoft. Inasmuch as you have a point about him/her writing the GRE instead, some people have gone for their interviews with TOEFL only and passed. Someone who enters the embassy with only TOEFL who's smart will surely know how to hit his case during the interview. He could even come out clean and say he wrote it for the visa officer's sake!grin If the VO's has got some humor, he/she's bound to have some good laugh.

Yea, GRE carries more weight than TOEFL. But two of them are both standardized international tests and writing any one or both of them indicates seriousness.

I've read a few interviews where the VO asks for a standardized exam and the candidate presents only TOEFL and the VO then comments positively on the candidate's spoken English and further asks why he wrote the TOEFL!

Inasmuch as we try to have GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/SAT results for the interview's sake, the underlying aim of these results is to prove you're serious about studying. Your seriousness about studying can also be effectively conveyed to the VO by means of your well-structured, precise and smart answers to other questions such as why you've chosen the school, why your program, what you intend doing after schooling, the number of schools you applied to and the number of accepts and rejects you had etc. I believe I've made my point.
Oh Sorry Bigfrancis, I was refering to @obsy2020. I didn't read the username clearly.

@Kunsoft sorry I wasn't refering to you in my last post, I was refering to @Obsy2020 to take TOEFL.

@BigFrancis, There is truth in what you said. Kudos to you bro. Well said.. Noted.
Travel › Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by mrswagger: 1:47pm On May 23, 2013
bigfrancis21: Please, write either TOEFL or GRE for the embassy's sake. Not writing any standardized exams tells the VO you're an unserious student and will most likely lead to a denial. You're there to prove to the VO that you got potential, and how do you intend to send that message across without writing any standardized test?

If you're looking to write one that won't require much stress on your part, write TOEFL.
@Bigfrancis let the guy do GRE instead.

@kunsoft take GRE instead of TOEFL.

The reason I'm saying this is that I remember a guy who got denied on this thread I don't really remember the page but his school didn't require any of the Exams both GRE and TOEFL for admission and he was actually ADMITTED to the school but he went ahead to take TOEFL for the sake of the interview and he didn't do GRE.

When he was being interviewed by the VO. The V.O requested for GRE from him but he told the V.O he didn't do GRE but did TOEFL.

The V.O told the guy not to show him any TOEFL score sheets. And he got DENIED.

So my bro take GRE, because the V.O know all this things they know TOEFL is much easy for students to perform brillantly.

I remember I guy here who got his visa, He did both SAT and TOEFL. He said something about some schools being interested in him and they kept contacting him by mail.

He had 1720 or something in SAT not too sure what is actual score was for SAT but it was around that range and had 100/110 in TOEFL. This shows how easy this exam is.

@Kunsoft if you take your time to read the pages of this thread, I bet you, you will gain and learn alot. Nairaland is really Informative

@Bigfrancis hope you understand my point here. Cheers bro.
No offence taken...to each his own.. Yea I did submit that but if u read my post well u would see that I was disappointed @ last min wen some of the money was used therefore reducing the balance and causing the denial.

Thanks for ur advice though I would consider it after I reapply ( as that's what I've decided to do)
I have also been discouraged abot changing sponspor but rather been advised to transfer money to that account. Which my uncle has been persuaded to do. That's where iam now. I am optimistic.

Thanks
@Teejay_G001

Sorry about your denial. God is in Control.

I have a little question to ask you.

Why didn't you go with the First Bank statement your sponsor gave you, the one which you used in procuring Admission.

For Example; your sponsor gave you a Bank statement with enough money in the Account which exceeded what you required for admission in the month of March and you got admitted with it.

And you apply for a visa by May for Example, you should have carried that same Bank statement which you used for Admission in the month of March to apply for Visa in the Month of May.

I guess where your flop came from was that you were looking for a latest Bank Statement, and the latest you had was below the required amount you needed and caused your denial.

You should have made do of what you had at that moment even though it wasn't the lastest Bank Statement as of that Month of May for Example, But it exceeded the required amount you needed.

@House hope I'm not making a mistake here, if So, pls correct me if I'm wrong, or does the US Embassy now require Current Bank Statement of the Same month one is applying for his/her visa.

smokes: @ Mr Moderator could you please enlighten me as to why a simple post informing peolple about an alternative to paying thier SEVIS fee was hidden, i actually thought this forum was a place were info are shared in other of making the rigourous process of applying for a visa abit easy, intended to let this slide but decided to ask, as you are denying folks who might want to know about an alternative to paying their SEVIS fee, Not everyone lives in lagos and can just wake up one morning and head to seme border, go thru all the touts and immigration wahala just becos of $200, if i have an alternative option that would save me all that stress even if it means paying a little extra, i would want to know about it.

FYI i neither work or am in anyway affiliated with the organisation in question neither have i heard about them before till i was refered to them by an official from my school when it was time to pay the SEVIS fee, and she found out about them from a Nigerian who's with them, i found their service very professional that was why i decided to chip in as someone who has had first hand experience with them, paid my fee hassle free from the comfort of my home.

But since you've decided to hide the post in your own wisdom, good for you.
@Smokes, thank you very much for your reasonable and vital Comment. God Bless you 10 million times...

You are very sensible. I'm happy you didn't just ignore this but you voiced out your point of view on this

Don't mind that justwise of a guy, he seems confused and doesn't even know when one his trying to tell him the truth.

@Smokes, Go to the Travels section on the topic " Easy way to pay Sevis fee for US student".

I even opened another thread for it so Prospective US student can easily access it and know their Options and Make their decisions because it's not everyone that will be able to read all the whole pages of the US student visa thread but this Justwise deleted the location for the Sevis fee payment I included there.

Me I tire for this justwise of a guy. I don't want to keep pushing this before he starts calling me an Agent because me I'm just a propective US student here like you guys.

Cheers bro.. Remain blessed. One luv.

justwise: That is just 'if', there is no evidence that companies placing Ads in nairaland are fraudulent.

Its not all about money but nairaland cost money to maintain.
@Justwise, I know ofcourse it cost Money to Maintain, Nairaland is Fast and growing, The website is going Global.

With God all things are Possible, you guys can Even be blessed by getting International sponsors who will sponsor the website.

Let me tell you something @justwise, this is not a Matter of "IF" like you quoted me above. Let's be Realistic here.

Do you think all companies that Pay for Ads Space on Nairaland here are REAL. Many of them are FAKE. I will spell it out to you if you don't know. 70% of them are all FAKE.

Why will there be Evidence to know if Company's placing Ads on Nairaland are FAKE. Do you think they will knock on your door and tell you they are FAKE. They won't Spell it out to you.

This Justwise of a guy you really amuse me with your hilarious character, you are behaving like someone that just came to Lagos. Like a JJC to be precise.

Even with all your Over protective Nature of Nairaland, Many people still get Scammed here. And I now know where the leakage is coming from. It's coming from all this Paid Ads you guys run here without running a proper check on the products and services you guys are Advertising.

@justwise there is something you need to know, Scammers have Money to spend for Advertisement, The Ads Fee is peanut to them. They won't even mind spending their whole Savings in their Bank Account just to pay for Ads Space.

As long as those Scammers know they are still going to make double or tripple the amount they Paid for Ads space on Nairaland, they will FOREVER keep renewing their Ads Space contract, so don't get it twisted.

Why will you guys know if it is REAL or FAKE, when you guys just collect money from those Fake Agents without verifying or authenticating the Genuiness of their product or Services they are Advertising here.

You guys won't attack and Invade the FAKE agents that Pay for Ads Space here but instead you attack the innocent ones here who are even trying to render their Help and services for FREE.

This makes me Sick.

justwise: If i have disappointed from the way i handle things here then get ready to be really really disappointed even more.

nairaland is more than 7yrs ago and since then people have been paying their SEVIS without your mentioned agent.

I did not accuse you of any criminal intent here, you are indirectly implicating yourself and i don't know why.

Do not name any agent here, whoever needs to pay for SEVIS will find away around it. We are not going to promoting any agent here. If that agent wants to promote their services here then they should contact Seun and pay for Ad space.
Oh, so it's all about money now, Paying for Ad space. I now understand the reason behind all this crazy stunt you have been putting on.

You guys are Making a whole lot of money through ads.

@Justwise let me ask you something, If one of those Fraudulent Agents who use Fake document to procure Visa for their students pay for advertisement here on Nairaland, so that is the way you guys will promote his Agency abi..

So because the Fake Agent for Example pays for Ads space, that is the way you guys will Unprofessionally promote his/her Silly Fake Agency here all because he paid for it.

It's not all about Money. Money is the root of all Evil.

I'm outta here....
Travel › Re: Easiest Way To Pay Your Sevis Fee For US Student by mrswagger(op): 4:13pm On May 22, 2013
justwise: We can not promote any agent here, this is about people's money. Whoever wants to pay SEVIS will find a way around it.
Justwise, I'm not happy with the way you handle things sometimes.

This is so devastating. Do you want many people to suffer. Do you know how many people travel all the way to Seme Border and encounter difficulties on their way to Seme Border cotonou with those nuisiance and thieves at the Border in Cotonou just to pay for Sevis fee when you can easily pay your Sevis fee here in Lagos under your nose.

You can't blame this students who fight and struggle so hard to actualise their goals to pursue their career in the US and the immigration and Nuisiance at the Border in Cotonou take advantage of them.

Many students international passport even gets seized at the Border in cotonou just because they were trying to pay Sevis fee.

I won't blame them, I blame our corrupt government, we lack the resources we need here to succeed, if not what is our business with Benin Republic, we are even better off without them.

First of all, I'm not an Agent. I'm just a propective student seeking an F-1 US Student visa. You can check my posts and profile here on nairaland you will see it all.

I just wanted to help everyone here on nairaland because I have gotten alot of help on here on Nairaland and it's nice giving back what I have to help out.

Justwise sometimes before you take drastic measure you have to run a check on the person's profile before you attack that person. Track whatever the person has been doing both in the past and lately on Nairaland so you will know if the person got genuine or dubious intentions

@Justwise if you check my last post, I didn't put any number of organisation because I predicted you will invade this thread of mine and my guess was absolutely right.

Think of this, If I was a desperate Agent in need of people's money, I would have easily dropped my phone number here for peeps to contact me but I didn't.

And Morever, Justwise you have totally dissapointed me, with your professionalism on Nairaland and issues relating to Student Visas, I find it very hard to believe you don't even know .

is a Non profit organisation approved by collegeboard. Go on collegeboard website and check it out there at w.

You will see organisation as the Only trusted Agent for SAT registration in Nigeria.

Even the famous in V.I, I don't even know if you know about them, they actually direct students to pay their Sevis fee at in Marina Lagos.

So Justwise, do your research well before you judge the honest ones wrongly and making other genuine students suffer perpetually due to the way you have withheld innocent peeps from disclosing useful and vital information to propective students here.

God knows I don't have any criminal or dubious intentions here, I was just trying to help. Peeps here on Nairaland precisely the US student Visa thread have been so kind to me by helping me out with lots of adequate informations towards the processing of my admission and Student Visa. So I decided to give back what I have to help those in need.

Check my profile and you will see lots of enquires I make at the USA student visa thread.

Let's join hands to solve problems other than we attacking each other.

If you don't want me to offer solutions, why don't you yourself sit yourself down and think for a second a way to offer solution to prospective US student facing hell traveling all the way to cotonou just to pay Sevis fee.

Cheers bro, I will stop for now.

Hello house,

I will like to pass a vital information to all
prospective Student Visa applicants on here on Nairaland.

I have read different post on nairaland where
people travel all the way to Seme Contonou to
pay for Sevis Fee due to lack of adequate
information.

I just called DELETE today where I did my SAT
registration and they told me they do Sevis fee
payment and the fee they charge is #42,000.

Even when you make the payment at
Contonou, if you Calculate the amount you will
pay for SEVIS, transport and the money you
will bribe those immigration on the way it will
be rounded up to almost close to the amount
you will pay to DELETE or even still more than.

When you make payment at DELETE you will
get your Online receipt Which you will take to
the Embassy within 1 week and the hard copy
of the receipt will be mailed to you.

So my friends over here I see no reason why
we should all be suffering ourselves to travel all the way to Seme border to pay the Sevis fee when one can easily make the payment here under our nose at a Cheap rate.

Even many of us who have friends and
relatives in the US are not even ready to
sacrifice their time to help you make Sevis fee
payment there in the US which would have
been faster and easier.

So I thought it was wise to help everyone here
who need help in making Sevis fee payment.

NB: DELETE organisation is a non profit
organisation and they are not FAKE agents
oooo to clear your doubt.

That is where I did My SAT registration and I
did it for a cheap rate in their office and all
went well.

Thanks see you all at the Top.

@ house, no dates at all on the US site for visa interview. do let us know if anything opens up.
Are u sure of this? Because when I checked the US consulate website, when filling your DS 160 form you will be asked to upload an acceptable passport photograph with the right size.

Or are we to take the passport photograph and then scan and upload it on the DS 160 online form. Or do they accept scanned images? Pls shed more light on this.

I was so angry that I sent them a very blunt email that they should cease being the school's courier agent if they won't accept credit cards from Nigeria.

It is very annoying, if I could pay the school's application fee with my credit card without any problem, then why can't I pay for the delivery of my I-20 from the same school with that same card?.

So my brother, the best option You have is to look for a US address for the school to mail your I-20 to and then get it mailed from there with Fedex.

Hello house, I hail all the gurus in da house, my guy Bigfrancis, imperiouxx, kpolli and everyone in da house

Please I intend receiving my i-20 from Minnessota state university, Mankato and the school said I can receive it through fedEx or DHL by signing up to eshipglobal.

After i signed up to eshipglobal, I couldn't proceed in knowing the rate of my shipment because the system said I entered an invalid address.

I correctly wrote out my home and email address but it still gives me the same error.

I also saw on their website that they don't accept credit cards from Nigeria.
I just don't know what to do now.

My sponsor tried getting a US contact for me but all efforts proved abortive so I intend receiving my i-20 package by eshipglobal.

I don't want to use regular mail to receive my document because the school said it will take 3-6 weeks before it gets to me but I even think it might even take longer than that and that is suicide.

Pls who in the house has used eshipglobal or anyone having the same issues with me should please guide me through. I need your help.

marshaldollz: Amen brother,thanks...I got a score of 1530 in total,I heard the man who interviewed me hardly gives out visa,an Asian man
Wow!!!! You did averagely well. Dts pretty cool. Almost the same score with mine.

I don't think it was the SAT score becos your score is good. Many people even get their student visa with scores lower than yours. It wasn't just your lucky day. It's just God's favour we all need..

Prepare well for your next interview, take time to read the previous threads and learn from student's success stories, and I'm pretty sure you shall get it this time. Don't be discouraged bro. Cheers
