Police arrest pastor with human skull •Unseen spirits forced me to reveal the secret —Suspect Authorities of the Police command in Osun State, on Thursday, paraded a 35-year-old man, identified as Clement Oyetunde, who was arrested with a human skull and other charms at Adeowo area of Modakeke, Osun State. The state Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Marafa made this disclosure while briefing newsmen, at the headquarters of the Police command. He hinted that the suspect’s arrest was made possible through a tip off from some residents of the area. Speaking through the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs Folasade Odoro, the Police boss said Clement, in connivance with one Wasiu, who is now at large, buried the human skull inside his house, located at Adeowo area, Modakeke. According to him, the suspect, who confessed to the crime, said some unseen spirits were chasing him in the dead of the night and forced him to reveal how the human skull was buried in the house, which he was using as church. Responding to question from journalists, Clement said “I am a pastor of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Oke-Itura parish, Adeowo area of Modakeke in Osun State. It was Wasiu that brought the skull to me. We buried it at my backyard. Wasiu left immediately and I don’t know his whereabouts, now. “Few days later, while I was sleeping in the house, I heard strange voices singing and drumming in Christian way as if they were worshiping. The tune suddenly changed into traditional song and some invisible spirits started telling me that I should return the skull of Iya-Osun.” “They told me that the skull we buried in my house was Mama Osun’s skull and that the woman was from Ondo in Ondo State. They insisted that I must return the skull and the noise was too much for me to bear as my head was swelling. “That was why I ran out from the house and called for help so that the spirits would not kill me inside the house. It was then that the people in my area gathered and they eventually called the police,” Clement narrated. While commending the people of the area, especially the landlord association and the vigilante men for providing useful information that culminated in the arrest of the suspect, Marafa assured that the police would apprehend Wasiu, stressing that the duo would face the full wrath of the law. tribune.com.ng/news/top-stories/item/18224-police-arrest-pastor-with-human-skull-unseen-spirits-forced-me-to-reveal-the-secret-suspect

Super Eagles Interim Coach, Stephen Keshi, says he is not desperate to remain as the team’s coach. Keshi, whose contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expired after the team crashed out in the second round of the just concluded FIFA World Cup in Brazil , has not been able to renew his contract with the federation. The team unimpressive performance in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers has cast serious doubts over his capability despite winning the tournament in South Africa last year. The several face offs with his players has not done his chances of renewing his contract any good, casting doubts over his managerial capability. Keshi is however not perturbed over the uncertainties surrounding his future with the team, reiterating that he is not desperate to retain the job, on the premise that it is not a ‘do-or- die’ affair. “It is not a do or die affair with me and Nigeria because I am not one of those coaches who find it difficult to coach outside of Nigeria , I’m not,” he told SL10.ng. He, however, refused to confirm or deny whether or not he has received any assurances from the Nigeria Football Federation on a new contract offer, but says his concern is on beating Sudan on Saturday and next Wednesday. “No I don’t need to talk about that now, the most important thing right now for me in my career is to win in Sudan . After that, if there’s anything called a contract or not, it’s up to the NFF and whoever is concerned. But for me, let me win my games on Saturday and Wednesday and if Nigerians are happy, we’ll see what happens.” He claims there are several offers on the table for him, but admits he would love to continue with Nigeria . “I thank God that I have other options, so if it is not here ( Nigeria ), which I love because it’s my country, no shaking,” he said. ..confidently. dailyindependentnig.com/2014/10/im-desperate-eagles-job-keshi/ |

There are 3 categories of Men *The ambitious Man *The Aggressive Man *The Focused Man *The Ambitious Man :This kind of man is power hungry, always wanting to dominate and compel others, and will do anything in achieving it, be it Blackmail, propaganda, even to the extent of eliminating opponent, can go to any length just to reach a post or attain height. He does not care about what happens to others, all that matters to him is his ambition. He believes the world was created for him alone. What others say or think about a situation has little meaning to him. He always want his way in every situation. To him, his opinion is always the best. He thinks those around him don't have anything worthwhile to offer. This is the ambitious man. *The Aggressive Man : This Kind of Man is Similar to Ambitious Man. He gives no consideration for his fellow men. The opinion of others do not matter to an Aggressive man. He does not seat down to think about the disadvantages of his actions, in some cases, he does somethings without thinking about its consequences. He is too Aggressive, even to his fellow people, aggressiveness lives in his veins. He will kill off the good dreams of people if it poses a threat to his own dream, he does not want anyone to surpass him in anyway, forgetting that in life, there will always be people behind you and people above you. What the other person is going through does not matter to him, as long as it does not affect him. *The Focus Man: This kind of man is calm, cool, and collected. He sets plans towards achieving something, he considers people before taking any action. He is always concerned about the consequences his action may cause on other people. Sometimes, he may even sacrifice something very important just to put a smile on the face of only one person. The Focused Man. He sees only the positive side in people, he helps them overcome their weaknesses because he wants them to become better. He is a strong willed person, consistent, and conssiderate. He reaches great heights in life because he has Motivational Drives, and can do anything as long as it brings positive change to people around him. ********OPINION********* Put at least one Nigeria politician into each category and let the debate begins. |
You’ve likely heard that multitasking is problematic, but new studies show that it kills your performance and may even damage your brain. Research conducted at Stanford University found that multitasking is less productive than doing a single thing at a time. The researchers also found that people who are regularly bombarded with several streams of electronic information cannot pay attention, recall information, or switch from one job to another as well as those who complete one task at a time. A Special Skill? But what if some people have a special gift for multitasking? The Stanford researchers compared groups of people based on their tendency to multitask and their belief that it helps their performance. They found that heavy multitaskers—those who multitask a lot and feel that it boosts their performance —were actually worse at multitasking than those who like to do a single thing at a time. The frequent multitaskers performed worse because they had more trouble organizing their thoughts and filtering out irrelevant information, and they were slower at switching from one task to another. Ouch. Multitasking reduces your efficiency and performance because your brain can only focus on one thing at a time. When you try to do two things at once, your brain lacks the capacity to perform both tasks successfully. Multitasking Lowers IQ Research also shows that, in addition to slowing you down, multitasking lowers your IQ. A study at the University of London found that participants who multitasked during cognitive tasks experienced IQ score declines that were similar to what they’d expect if they had smoked marijuana or stayed up all night. IQ drops of 15 points for multitasking men lowered their scores to the average range of an 8-year-old child. So the next time you’re writing your boss an email during a meeting, remember that your cognitive capacity is being diminished to the point that you might as well let an 8-year-old write it for you. Brain Damage From Multitasking It was long believed that cognitive impairment from multitasking was temporary, but new research suggests otherwise. Researchers at the University of Sussex in the UK compared the amount of time people spend on multiple devices (such as texting while watching TV) to MRI scans of their brains. They found that high multitaskers had less brain density in the anterior cingulate cortex, a region responsible for empathy as well as cognitive and emotional control. While more research is needed to determine if multitasking is physically damaging the brain (versus existing brain damage that predisposes people to multitask), it’s clear that multitasking has negative effects. Neuroscientist Kep Kee Loh, the study’s lead author, explained the implications: “I feel that it is important to create an awareness that the way we are interacting with the devices might be changing the way we think and these changes might be occurring at the level of brain structure.” Learning From Multitasking If you’re prone to multitasking, this is not a habit you’ll want to indulge—it clearly slows you down and decreases the quality of your work. Even if it doesn’t cause brain damage, allowing yourself to multitask will fuel any existing difficulties you have with concentration, organization, and attention to detail. Multitasking in meetings and other social settings indicates low self- and social-awareness, two emotional intelligence (EQ) skills that are critical to success at work. TalentSmart has tested more than a million people and found that 90% of top performers have high EQs. If multitasking does indeed damage the anterior cingulate cortex (a key brain region for EQ) as current research suggests, it will lower your EQ in the process. So every time you multitask you aren’t just harming your performance in the moment; you may very well be damaging an area of your brain that’s critical to your future success at work. www.forbes.com/sites/travisbradberry/2014/10/08/multitasking-damages-your-brain-and-career-new-studies-suggest/

m.bbc.com/news/world-europe-29516882 Investigations are under way at a hospital in Madrid after a Spanish nurse became the first person known to have contracted the deadly Ebola virus outside West Africa. The nurse had treated two Spanish missionaries who died of the disease after being flown home from the region. Three other people, including the nurse's husband, have been quarantined. The European Commission has asked Spain to explain how the nurse could have become infected. Some 3,400 people have died in the outbreak - mostly in West Africa. The Spanish auxiliary nurse, a 40-year- old woman who has not been named, was one of about 30 staff at the Carlos III hospital in Madrid who had been treating priests Manuel Garcia Viejo and Miguel Pajares, officials say. Staff staged a protest outside La Paz Hospital in Madrid over the government's handling of the Ebola cases Mr Garcia Viejo, 69, died at the hospital on 25 September after catching Ebola in Sierra Leone. Mr Pajares, 75, died in August after contracting the virus in Liberia. The nurse had twice gone into the room where Mr Garcia Viejo had been treated, to be directly involved in his care and to disinfect the room after his death. Both times she was wearing protective clothing. Madrid healthcare director Antonia Alemany told reporters that according to the information available: "The nurse went into the room wearing the individual protection gear and there's no knowledge of an accidental exposure to risk." Shortly afterwards the nurse went on holiday, a hospital spokesman said, but fell ill on 30 September and was admitted to Alcorcon hospital in south- west Madrid on Sunday after being tested positive for Ebola. Early on Tuesday she was moved under police escort to Carlos III hospital in the capital and is said to be in a stable condition. The Spanish health authorities say she is being treated with a drip using antibodies from previous Ebola patients. Her husband and a second nurse who treated the missionary are now in quarantine, officials said, as well as a man who recently arrived on a flight from Nigeria. |

If it will make the airports to be run effectively and effenciently, they should go ahead. Another things is that the FG can use the money saved from that sector to better the life of the citizenry, the only concern I have though is that so called leader will 'satisfy' themselves first. |

An online medium based in the United States, the Foreign Policy Journal, has flayed the branding of the Boko Haram sect and other militant groups as Islamist. The journal, on Wednesday, in a report entitled ‘What if the “Islamic State” didn’t exist?’ said, “Many in the media (Western, Arab, etc.) use the reference ‘Islamist’ to brand any movement at all, whether it is political, militant or even charity-focused. “If it is dominated by men with beards or women with headscarves that make references to the Holy Koran and Islam as the motivator behind their ideas, violent tactics or even good deeds, then the word ‘Islamist’ is the language of choice. “According to this overbearing logic, a Malaysia-based charity can be as ‘Islamist’ as the militant group, Boko Haram, in Nigeria. When the term ‘Islamist’ was first introduced to the debate on Islam and politics, it carried mostly intellectual connotations. Even some ‘Islamists’ used it in reference to their political thought. Now, it can be moulded to mean many things,” it said. According to the report, ‘Islamist’ is not the only convenient term that is being tossed around deliberately in the discourse pertaining to Islam and politics. It said, “Many are familiar with how the term ‘terrorism’ manifested itself in the myriad of ways that fit any country’s national or foreign policy agenda — from the (former) United States (President) George W. Bush to Russia’s Vladimir Putin. “In fact, some of these leaders accused one another of practising, encouraging or engendering terrorism, while positioning themselves as the crusaders against terror. “The American version of the ‘war on terror’ gained much attention and bad repute because it was highly destructive. But many other governments launched their own wars to various degrees of violent outcomes,” the report said. It explained further that the flexibility of the usage of language stands at the heart of the subject matter, including that of IS. The FJP report further emphasised that, reportedly, the Middle Eastern terror group had been mostly made of foreign jihadists. “This could have much truth to it, but this notion cannot be accepted without much contention,” it added. www.punchng.com/news/us-report-flays-tagging-boko-haram-islamists/ |
