EmoBoy: He failed to state what the debts were used for. I have no objection towards borrowing only if it used to finance revenue generating infrastructure projects or for provision of social services. However, if this is not the case and the debts are used for recurrent or variable expenditure then we have a problem.Yes, he wasn't objective enough in what the debt was used for. Secondly, he took offense from the publication from the FG as if anything is wrong with keeping the public informed. |
I far as I'm concerned, Ribadu is one of those few individual in this country who has knack to the things right and he is a good example of a FOCUS man but he is never a 'politician' and he will never be one. What pisses me off about Kwankwanso comment is not about Ribadu but about APC vs PDP, it is crystal clear that pdp has failed us to some extent but why didn't he come out and tell us his own 'manisfesto' and how he can augment the success of pdp as well as work on their weakness rather than telling us the obvious (and this is peculiar to apc aspirants all over the federation). |
I can't stop laughing, three main germane issues from the federal govt on nairaland FP this money and it cover sensitive place in the economy (employment, agriculture, project). Listen, we refused to be fooled anymore, where have all this minister been all this while? Well, I hope it's a fake dream |
3 million Job? I don't want to believe anything I read from the paper anymore especially if it emanate from the FG. 'Action they say speaks louder than voice', I want to see the actions not the talking. And in all honesty, I don't trust 97% of the member of the committee, the will only us that(if it's implemented) for feed themselves. Mtcheeew! |
A professor of Ophthalmology at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Guiness Eye Centre, Prof Adebukola Adefule-Oshitelu, has claimed that ‘Corchorus’ popularly known as Ewedu in Nigeria has the potency to both prevent and cure the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). Prof Adefule-Oshitelu had equally championed Garcinia Kola (orogbo) as a remedy for eye diseases, especially glaucoma. According to Prof Adefule-Oshitelu, Ewedu as a cure and a preventive substance for Ebola was revealed to her divinely; under the ‘Great Divine Holy order of the Third Era”. According to her, Ewedu cures Ebola by improving an infected person’s immune system, likewise providing prevention against the deadly virus for uninfected persons. “The qualities inside Ewedu is so much that it will kill Ebola by preventing the virus from replicating and destroying more organs in the body. This would immediately stop the symptoms such as high fever, diarhoea and vomiting. Ultimately, leading to the cure,” Oshitelu said. According to her, for a cure, attention has to be paid to how the Ewedu is prepared. “The way it will be prepared will be different from the normal way Ewedu is cooked. “Provide the vegetable in good quantity; should be washed and rinsed with liquid vinegar, afterwards blend and cook with drinkable water, for five minutes. No salt, potash or seasoning should be added, take 25cl or half tumbler of the preparation in an empty stomach first in the morning, daily for a week. This would boost a person’s immunity so that such become impregnable to the virus.” Oshitelu said. She said: “For prevention, follow these steps described above and use once weekly throughout the period of infestation. These are divine revelations and anyone interested in taking advantage of it is welcome.” Prof Adefule-Oshitelu can be reached via: [email protected] or visit www.greatdivineholyorder.org news2.onlinenigeria.com/news/377012-don-ewedu-can-cure-prevent-ebola.html |
By Ben AgandeAbuja — President Goodluck Jonathan has directed that the #Bring Back Jonathan 2015 signs and banners around Abuja which he and many Nigerians be brought down immediately. This came as All Progressives Congress, APC, in its reaction, described the President’s directive as a good first step. The #BringBack Jonathan 2015 hash tag has provoked national and international outrage as it is seen as unfair imitation of the popular #BringBackOurGirls which was launched by some activists to campaign for the release of the over 200 girls abducted at Chibok, Borno State, by Boko Haram. But a statement yesterday by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, read: “President Jonathan wholly shares the widely expressed view that the signs which were put up without his knowledge or approval are a highly insensitive parody of the #BringBackOur Girls hash tag. “While President Jonathan appreciates the enthusiastic show of support for his administration by a broad range of stakeholders, he condemns the #Bring Back Jonathan 2015 signs which appear to make light of the very serious national and global concern for the abducted Chibok girls. “The President assures all Nigerians and the international community that his administration remains fully engaged with efforts to rescue the abducted girls and that he will not knowingly promote any actions that will fly in the face of the seriousness of their plight and the anguish of their families.” Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has described as a good first step the order by President Goodluck Jonathan for the removal of the #BringBackJonathan, which is a mockery of the #BringBackOurGirls hash tag that had helped to call global attention to the fate of the over 200 girls abducted by Boko Haram almost five months ago and remained in captivity. In a statement in London, yesterday, by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party, however, said the President made a mockery of his administration and his country by waiting for an international condemnation of the shameless and brazen usurpation of the #BringBackOurGirls hash tag before issuing the directive for it to stop. “Had the US newspaper, Washington Post, not written a stinging editorial skewing the Jonathan Administration for appropriating the BringBackOurGirls hash tag for his re-election, the Administration would have continued its brazenness without regards to the feelings of the parents of the girls or indeed the Nigerian people. “Again, the administration has waited for a global opprobrium before doing what is right. Recall that it took an international media campaign before the Jonathan administration acknowledged, after all of 19 days, that the Chibok girls were missing in the first instance. “Recall also that it took a 17-year-old, Yousafzai Malala, to make the President realise that he should meet with the parents of the girls, even if he eventually insulted the grieving parents by inviting them to Abuja instead of going to visit them in their abode? It is important that we don’t make a mockery of our own people, so that we don’t become objects of international mockery,’’ it said. APC said belated as the President’s directive on #BringBackJonathan hash tag was, it was a good first step that must be quickly followed by another directive ordering the so-called Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN, to immediately stop its rallies that have offended the sensibilities and intelligence of Nigerians. The party said the noisy and sycophantic rallies being held across the nation, ostensibly to collect signatures from Nigerians urging President Jonathan to seek re-election, contrast with the challenges currently facing the nation, which is being dismembered town by town by the terrorist group Boko Haram. ‘’Nigeria is in a state of war, a state of anarchy, a state of loss never witnessed since the end of the unfortunate civil war in 1970. Terrorists are capturing towns after towns and hoisting their flags over the seized territories, Our troops are engaged in an epic battle to ward off the terrorists. Our people are being daily slaughtered by the marauding terrorists. And Ebola is very much here with us. ‘’Therefore, this cannot be the time for festivities and celebrations, the type being orchestrated by the government under the TAN banner. The rallies insult the troops who are battling Boko Haram. The rallies insult Nigerians who are fervently praying for the unity of the nation in the face of the madness by the marauders. The rallies offend the sensibilities of the families of our citizens who are being mowed down daily by Boko Haram. They must stop forthwith,’’ it said. APC wondered whether the organisers of the rallies and those who have been mocking the #BringBackOurGirls campaigners know that Nigerians are not fools, hence can see the deceit, the callousness and the insensitivity of the Jonathan administration in secretly funding the rallies and the anti- BringBackOurGirls campaigns. www.vanguardngr.com/2014/09/jonathan-orders-removal-bring-back-jonathan-banners/

By Olasunkanmi Akoni Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, justified the decisions of the Lagos State Government to take a bond worth over N160 billion from World Bank, saying strategies had been put in place to ensure repayment of the loan in due period. He said the economy of the state had recorded exponential growth over the years and had been consistently rated high by international rating agencies, insisting that criticisms that the state was borrowing too much were unfair. Fashola said this while responding to questions from newsmen after an inspection tour of the ongoing construction of the light rail terminus at Orile-Iganmu, Lagos. The governor who said he was satisfiedwith the work done so far on the project, expressed disappointment that the work did not move as smoothly as expected. He however, expressed optimism that the project would be completed in another 12 months. Speaking on the rationale behind the debt, Fashola said: “I think it was the debt management office of the Federal Government that published the report that we have a debt of about N160billion. I don’t know the intent of the publication but if it was to inform the public, I think we have always kept the public informed anytime we borrow money. If there are other intentions behind that, only those who make the publication would know what the intentions are. “But you see, when people talk about debt of a state like Lagos, they forget that after Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt and one other country, we have the fifth largest economy in Africa. When you are talking of about a billion naira debt to a population of over 21 million people; because if you are measuring the debt, you also have to measure the responsibility. Those are the things people keep in isolation.” According to Fashola, the Lagos State government already had put in place strategies for the repayment of the loan, insisting that the Federal Government was in the know of the state’s decision to take the bond and it approved it. He said “The truth is that what they don’t also say is that no state in Nigeria can borrow money outside, from any multilateral agencies without the approval of the Federal Government. So, what they did not say is that they approved it. No state can raise money by bond the way we have done without the FG’s approval. “Securities and Exchange Commission is one of Federal Government`s regulatory agencies through which we must pass.If they say okay, it means there must be something good about the debt.” `Our rating as a state is the same as that of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, BB Minus-Stable with a positive outlook. We are the only state in Nigeria that has that rating. The first bond that was taken during my first tenure has been paid, the first tranche. I think the second tranche will be due around 2016 or 2017 and we are already making provisions. The provisions that will be there will be in excess of what is needed,“ Speaking on the ongoing construction, Fashola expressed satisfaction on the job but decried the petty delay that was encountered as a result of inadequate funding, but expressed hope for the job to be completed in th next 12 months. www.vanguardngr.com/2014/09/debt-profile-fashola-justifies-n160bn-states-debt/ |
Water is the second most popular beverage after soft drinks. This is a scary stat, since sugary soda is a huge health hazard, upping the risk of obesity, stroke, and other heart problems. However, these dangers can be avoided if people choose to drink water, which doesn’t have negative side effects. So help put the sugary stuff to the side and it make water the number one drink of choice. Plus, the benefits really are endless. (Just take a look!) *Fluid balance. Roughly 60 percent of the body is made of water. Drinking enough H2O maintains the body’s fluid balance, which helps transport nutrients in the body, regulate body temperature, digest food, and more. *Calorie control. Forget other diettricks — drinking water could also help with weight loss. Numerous studies have found a connection between water consumption and losing a few pounds. The secret reason? Water simply helps people feel full, and as a result consume fewer calories. *Muscle fuel. Sweating at the gym causes muscles to lose water. And when the muscles don’t have enough water, they get tired. So for extra energy, try drinking water to push through that final set of squats. *Clearer skin. Certain toxins in the body can cause the skin to inflame, which results in clogged pores and acne. While science saying water makes the skin wrinkle free is contradictory, water does flush out these toxins and can reduce the risk of pimples. *Kidney function. Our kidneys process 200 quarts of blood daily, sifting out waste and transporting urine to the bladder. Yet, kidneys need enough fluids to clear away what we don’t need in the body. Let's drink to that! *Productivity boost. In order to really focus, a glass of water could help people concentrate and stay refreshed and alert. *Fatigue buster. Move over coffee — water can help fight those tired eyes too. One of the most common symptoms of dehydration is tiredness. Just another reason to go for the biggulp! (Not the 7-11 kind.) *Hangover help. If booze has got the best of you, help a hangover with a glass of water to hydrate the body and stop that pounding headache. *Pain prevention. A little water can really go a long way. Aching joints and muscle cramps and strains can all occur if the body is dehydrated. *Keep things flowing. Nobody wants to deal with digestion issues. Luckily, drinking enough water adds fluids to the colon which helps make things, ahem, move smoothly. *Sickness fighter. Water may help with decongestion and dehydration, helping the body bounce back when feeling under the weather. Just beware — drinking fluids hasn’t been scientifically proven to beat colds in one swoop, so don’t swap this for a trip to the doctor or other cold remedies. *Brain boost. A study in London found a link between students bringing water into an exam room and better grades, suggesting H2O promotes clearer thinking. While it’s unclear if drinking the water had anything to do with a better score, it doesn’t hurt to try it out! |

She's deserves every attention she get because she deserves it for making Nigeria and Nigerian really proud; I'm sorry to say all these will get in her head and she may not be able to manage the success and hype hence lead to her failure in future competition. |
I don't have anyone to blame aside the player although Keshi has his share of the blame; the team has lost passion and fighting spirit having won the AFCON last year and that should tell us African footballer can't manage success really well. They underestimate the congolese and paid for it, I hope this will re-ignite their passion and fighting spirit. Keshi, should have tell Nigerians we will lose the encounter before we started perhaps it will save some of my friend money on placing bet on them. |
