arun12: but still i'm single.my child also 6 year old.now we are going to marry. My advice is to finish your own processing, then if you eventually do get married you can apply for your husband. |
hardboya: Somebody help me,i only added one passport picture to my documents i mailed.can i post the additional one to the office againYes you can, just quote your ref no , they will accept it |
coldgate: Thanks Nlders. After reading your comments, I began to ask myself the same Questions. I have also arrived at a conclusion.I would get my children outa there ASAP!. There truly shouldn't be any compromise where children are concerned. I totally agree that I am being sentimental because my church is involved. I will take my children away first, then I will offer my explanations to the 'Mummy' later.Madam, what about other people's children there? Don't you owe them a duty of care? It's your duty to speak out , not just take YOUR Child away. or is it when some other child gets hurt, you'll say to yourself Thank God it wasn't mine? Yet you knew something was not quite right! Na wa! What happened to being your brothers keeper? Or is the PASTORS WIFE's feelings more important than the safety of the children? |
arun12: still i'm not married , but i have 1 kid ,my child birth certificate also mention unmarried , but it's mention my name. what can i do now? What is your question? If you applied as unmarried and won, as long as the child is on your form or if you had the child later and your name is on the birth certificate, there is nothing to worry about. Proceed with your processing. |
i have a question pls. is it compulsory dat i used my husbands name as my applicant name though, am d principal applicant. cos i avnt change my name, i did my E-passport since last year which was my fathers name i used so am comfused on the name to use in filling the form.
If there is no information included as to how to proceed if your status has changed, You should use the original name you used in applying and winning. Then you can write with proof that you are now married and would like to include your husband in your application. They will advise you on how to proceed. Please people on any changes to your status always go with your original name and inform them immediately , there are laid down provisions on how to proceed. |
Tanx. my baffle me is dat, am married nd i av my maiden name on my E-passport cos i av it before my marriage. wot shud i do about it.
Go to the immigration and they will advice you on what to do, but I know you have to go to Abuja with proof of marriage to get it changed. |
I don't know o. Even if they want to proceed with the processing, how are they gonna prove that they are truly married? Or are they gonna say it is a common law marriage or companion living together not married? I think it is daisy. That lottery from my own point of view is lost. It may be a futile effort if for example they should try. Cos just this week, a couple who were actually, truly married were drilled for hours at the embassy before their visa was eventually approved talk less of arrangee marriage. Or house what do u think?
You are right, the lady can proceed but the guy has lost it and should try again. The US embassy has zero tolerance for suspicious or arrangee marriage? |

plendil: This is totally unnecessary, please.Oh is it someone else's daughter it's ok to happen to? O can see that quite a few men on this page are closet pedophiles! Someone even went as far as to say that some people are hypocrites after all have they never done it with a minor before? I'm not surprised at all these are the same Nigerians that are busy condemning consenting same sex adults , but they think ther is nothing wrong with defiling a child as long as she seems to agree. People what is wrong with you? For those who don't seem to know, having intimate relations with a minor child, with or without his or her consent is a criminal offence known as statutory molestation! You will do jail time so do not deceive yourself . |
studio43: From what I read here, the girl didn't alleged he forced her into having sexxx with him in the bush. So therefore, they both agreed to do the do.So what are u insinuating ? A child of 11 AGREED to have sex with an older man, a school principal? A trusted custodian of our children?? Are you insane??. A minor child has no consent in law, therefore it is statutory RAPE my friend! Aka jail time!! Lest I forget, he is also going to HELL! |
donpere: Hey guys a friend just sent me this cover letter to help edit. I have edited . Below is the Result. Pleas i want to know if its okay.A cover letter should have some personality to it, to be honest this one doesn't? It could have been written by anyone. My two cents, let your personality pop out. |
Orikinla: The police can see faces of real Nigerian lesbians on http://kissesandroses..com/2012/09/what-desperate-nigerian-girls-do-for.html. And there are lesbians in disguise here even reading and commenting on this topic too.yep and probably gay men too! What's your point? |
walearoy: I can melt ice in eskimo!!!I think it's can you sell ice to an Eskimo? |
Afam4eva: Are they sure nothing happened to her on her way to the church. It's very unlikely that she developed cold feet. Was she coming alone? What about the bridesmaids, her dad or whoever was giving her away, the whole bridal train except the groomsmen arrive with the bride, what happened to them? |
metamorphus11: k thanks will check it out.....dem block the site for office!.....i hope it will open cos i aint on FB but thanksYour welcome, I'm sure it's going well, keep at it and well done. |

Also take as much water n food as u can cos food in there is expensive! Then stay till night cos that's when the Parade of Lights and Dreams Starts and if you don't see that, then u haven't been to Disney Land! Enjoy, it's An Awesome un missable experience! |

solidbroda: MSc I may believe. But PhD, I don't. Maybe these Ph.D holders are not intellectuals. That is just the way I see it. PhD holders are Hot cakes all over the world. Except maybe they have Ph.D in kitchen accessories. Media will always over hype things nonsense. You better beleive it my dear, when I advertised for "Sales Girl" in a clothes shop, I got applications from all of the above. Some were begging me for the job, that they are tired of staying at home, just somewhere to go to everyday, a lady who is an accountant even knelt down crying! I have seen them all. |

Great Advice for every Job Seeker!
|
Hi People, iv been very busy the last couple of days so iv not been able to post any write ups, just pictures etc. During my short sojourn on Nairaland, iv gathered some insight into the Nigerian youth or should I say "job seekers" population. I have in my time also been a job seeker, both here and in the UK . For me it was an exercise in economic adventurism as well as a journey to seek financial freedom! As an employer of staff, and an interviewer, I have been privileged to observe many things about the Nigerian Job seeker and I'll take some time to post my observations here. First of all, whenever I visit the job section of Nairaland, I am appalled by some of the comments I see. Many are so badly written that it baffles me to understand what the person is actually trying to say. This brings me to one of my major issues with those seeking employment. Are you marketable? Do you have the necessary skills to impress an interviewer and make him want to employ you? Do you know what it is to write an attention grabbing cv? If you believe you do have skills, do you know how to present them in such a way as to make an interviewer want you on board his company's pay roll? Do you know anything about the company that is about to interview you? And last but not least, Do you believe you have anything to offer the company ? Many will say, eh where will I learn all these skills if iv never had a job before, that is a defeatist statement, and from the comments on Nairaland alone , I'm sorry to say , but it is obvious that a lot of the commenters don't seem to think it matters. Well for your information, it does, and a great deal!! Desperately needing a job is not a criteria for an interviewer to employ you! YOU HAVE TO IMPRESS HIM or HER! As an interviewer, I could smell desperation before the candidate entered the room! Some candidates seemed to think that just groveling to the interviewer for the job was enough! Also telling the interviewer a long litany of you and your family woes is definitely a No No! It's so off putting! Many interviewers including myself can also detect mediocrity and to be honest no company, no matter how minuscule the pay, wants to pay for mediocrity! They all want the best for their bucks, so make sure you are the best they will interview that day! Many of you are on the Internet all day, making comments on one social media or the other, just whiling away your time, but do you know that there is a huge amount of free training on the net, where you can learn all these necessary skills? If you have to stay at home, Use your time wisely in acquiring skills and boosting your knowledge! For example I recently learnt French from a free app, it was amazing! Another thing iv noticed on the nairaland job section , is the refusal of many people to learn and take risks. Every job you embark on is an opportunity to learn something new! Everyone seems to be looking for a soft landing, online business seems to be the vogue, but how many will succeed from it, and isn't the likely hood of being scammed greater than real live business opportunities? Some of my best education as a new employee were things I learnt whilst trying out several marketing jobs. They are the easiest form of employment to get. I remember my first job was Telephone sales , not selling telephones, or telemarketing as it was called then. You are given random telephone no's and you call them up and pitch a sale to them of whatever product or service it is your company has to offer. It was so much fun and I learnt so much from it, I didn't make much money, but the wealth of experience I garnered from it is something I can't duplicate anywhere. It taught me how to make a sales pitch to a complete stranger over the phone, and seriously built my confidence level with each sale, whilst taking the NO's in my stride! Till today I employ the techniques I learnt during the training there, in my present day business , with much success. Many employers of marketers give free training and if you pay attention and learn, you not only acquire a highly marketable skill, but you boost your confidence in talking to people and boost your marketability! For the Free Training alone , it is worth, taking up such opportunities whilst waiting for a so called Real Job! I noticed that nairalanders are in the habit of discouraging enquirers from taking up such opportunities and go as far as calling them scams! Every job must not be to your tailor-made specifications, and nothing stops you from moving on when the time is right, it sure beats staying at home doing nothing! You get to meet people , make contacts and if you are diligent, may make some money and gather some very useful knowledge along the way. If you had the opportunity to interview some highly successful people, you will be surprised at the crazy, sometimes ridiculous jobs they embarked on, on their way to the Top! Keep an open mind people, and always remember, nothing beats the experiences you pick up in life because as the say, EXPERIENCE IS REALLY THE BEST TEACHER! My next post will be on " Skills to impress any Interviewer" |
Adam Urbanski says "There are only 3 things needed to make money: a person with a problem, a solution, and you connecting the two!"

coldgate: @msSantaClaus: that sounds interesting. Do you still have details of the place u stayed. I would also be going on a budget and would love to shop with any spare money I can save. This is especially so as I will be going in the thick of summer. Tickets are quite prohibitive at such times. Tanx.Try wakanow pay small small, it fixes the ticket price. |
sunjos79: if you don't want to waste ur t.fare, better stay at home cos u would regret going.it's gnld.i was there last year. Why are you discouraging this young person? It may not have worked for you, but it may work for him. I'm not into GNLD, But I can tell you for free that many people owe their lively hood to them. It takes hard work , determination and persistence, but with all those and time, it will pay off! Why are the youth afraid to take a chance? Visit my profile and you will see I'm an advocate for network marketing, I wonder why you think it's better to sit at home , than joining a marketing company? They offer free training and if nothing else, you stand to improve your marketing skills, presentation /public speaking skills and general confidence, thereby making yourself more attractive in the job market! |
I love this picture!
