Bombard this hashtag with your thought on the match - #FIFAWWC #NGAFRA. That was pure injustice.

It is sad our coach does not believe in the real young girls. They are the real fighters.

Our keeper is the only shining star I can see going forward.

Our coach lacks tactics. He should just go back to wherever forest he came from.

Our players too are not helping matter. Playing like chicken. With One player down, it is over.

That was NEVER a penalty and NEVER a sent off. Big BIAS. We might not perform but that was a huge cheating.

Disgraceful performances. Couldnt even string passes together.
PoliticsRe: Dino Melaye On INEC Server: When they claim they don't have a server show them by MT: 4:55pm On Jun 17, 2019
Buckubuck:
The "anywhere" is referred to as server technically. It contains the database as well as the database mgt system.
You are very wrong. Server "serves" resources upon request by a client. A computer system housing a database isn't regarded as a server till it starts to respond to request and serve resources. That's why is is called a SERVER.

Buckubuck:
So where does the scr get the information it uses to accredit the voter from?
It resides there on the card reader. It's preloaded, it didn't require use of internet to connect to any computer somewhere remotely.

Buckubuck:
From your submission it will be right to call a USB stick or CD a database am I right?
Database can be stored anywhere. Database is not that hardware that houses it (in as much it supports read and write operations), database is just a piece of software managing data for you. Once you can connect your application to where the database is housed, you are good to go.

Ejanla07:
What is the job then if not to serve card reader
That's where architectural design comes. The card reader doesn't need to communicate with a remote computer somewhere. The database can be integrated on that card reader. To download the data to the remote location, they can write an application that will download all the data from the card reader to the remote computer. Still, that DOES NOT qualify that remote computer to be called a SERVER.

First of all, INEC hasn’t even explained their own infrastructure to help us scrutinize performance and output better. I am relying on the INEC budget where servers for the voting purpose was mentioned. Also, if the data was internalized in the machine chips, then if there is a case of a non-working machine, another can be given for accreditation (provision). The standalone reader used by banks such as the Chip Authentication Program to a good extent still provides the bank with enough allowances to run a backroom authorization and counter authorization, arguably this means a superior level of backroom monitoring and control is in place. Dataware houses and servers are custom built to optimize performance. Considering the nature of information and usage, one would expect the chosen architecture to tick all the right boxes in terms of accessibility, scalability and security. It must have been custom built. It is not my problem who won what, I don’t even believe in manually inputting figures on a card reader after voting due to the high risk of human error but still yet, they owe us a sound and intelligent response for the sake of posterity. Many years from now we will look back at the sort of excuses we have swallowed due to lack of transparency and we will understand how we played a role in it happening.
Thanks for being civil in your response. I understand you were dwelling on the provision for server(s) in the INEC budget. I am focused on the technicality of the word - SERVER. If INEC budgeted for a server and did not buy it, that was another kettle of fish to be subject to scrutiny by the auditor.

But for people to be saying that because the card readers sent data to a computer in a remote location(which i believe did not hold true anyway) qualifies such remote computer system to be called a server is a no no. that activity DOES NOT qualify any computer system to be called a SERVER.

Please can Nigerians be less ignorant of key issues. As much as you want your preferred candidate to remain in power, doing so at the expense of common sense is very risky. The result is what is being experienced in Nigeria presently.

It is basic knowledge that a card reader CANNOT operate in isolation. There is a sort of server or backroom infrastructure it communicates with. This infrastructure maybe cloud or locally hosted. It balances the feedback system of sending and receiving information. I’m currently doing a data program and this is the most basic information.

In a sane society....regardless whether APC or PDP, the INEC Official that said they don’t have a server would have been persecuted immediately. He will be rendered useless and unfit for any employment position.

But no! Instead some people are here screaming on top of their gross ignorance. It’s like a bank telling you your ATM card or the machine operates on its own, without servers. The world laughs at you.

I’m not surprised tho, after all a baboon just swallowed some amount of money. Ignorance is worse than poverty. A poor man can be rich, but a foolish man will most likely die in his Ignorance.
You are wrong sir. That machine DOES NOT need a server to operate. The database can be internalised on it; If you are claiming it is communicating with a database based on the cloud, where did they get the internet network to drive it in various remote locations. I expect you to know that there are lots of architecture and infrastructures that will go into it to take care of security, scalability, performance etc., if that is the route they wanted to go (i.e. communicating with cloud-based database).

Are you really ignorant or you're just trying to deny the truth. I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt, being that not all are IT inclined. But please note that, where you have a client that collects data like that card reader, there's usually a centralised data base usually on a server, either physical or virtual that stores this data and from which cross matching is done. INEC cannot deny its ownership of servers for the elections.
I am sorry but you are so wrong despite claiming to be IT-inclined. You were trying to build an architecture based on your assumption. A database DOES NOT not need to be on the server. It can stand alone on a computer system as a repository. I have pointed this out in a series of my post, there is a reason they call it a SERVER which I expect you to know, if you are as you claim. It is a SERVER because it SERVES out resources to client upon request. If I store resource(s) into a remote computer system, that DOES NOT make that computer system a server. It only becomes a server when the client request for information from the computer system and it responds (that is SERVES) by providing the resources to the client that requests for it.

Not everyone is qualified to talk about server, as easy as it sounds, it is such a technical thing.

What concerns me is that most of the people using iPhone can't even use 10% of its capabilities, including the men. iPhone isn't manufactured to be the latest fad in town but a real machine in your hands.
PoliticsRe: Leaked: Inec Officer Confirms The Existence Of SERVER- Video by MT: 11:45am On Jun 14, 2019
I wonder why people are being emotional about this server thing. A court of law is not based on emotion. Anyone can lay claim to the presence of a server in INEC, the question is - is he qualified to talk about SERVER. Is he an IT professional whose evidence will be tenable before the court ?. A gateman can call an ordinary stabilizer, a UPS because that is the way it apears to him, it doesnt make him right.

Like I have pointed out in some of my posts here, SERVER is a technical word and not everybody is qualified to talk about it. The question would have been:

What is a Server ? and going by this definition, Can we safely conclude that INEC does have a SERVER.

This is a case of someone accusing another of having a BIRO and the the other person says no, i do not have a BIRO but I have a pen. Wont he be correct if he is holding another brand of Pen which is not a BIRO. It is logical, reflect on it please.

you dont have a server, where do you store your data? where do you print the voter's lists from?
you dont have a server, which server did you guys said your server was hacked?

bunch of liars
Do not be an ignorant lot. Saving or transmitting a document to a computer system DOES NOT make that computer to be a SERVER. A computer ONLY becomes a SERVER when it starts to respond to requests from you (clients) across the network.

SouthSouth1914:
What is the reason? Please what is your point in this argument?
My point is the TERMINOLOGY. If PDP was asking for access to INEC SERVER in court, then INEC would be right to say "We DO NOT have a SERVER" because in truth, there was no server. Smiles....

Server is the head computer in a sub group. Data capturing machines where issued so a head computer (Server) can get informations from its hundreds or thousands of capturing machines (Subgroups) in a network. Where is the proof that people actually voted, don’t tell me it is stored in some sort of tissue paper..

Don’t tell me nonsense! By the way, you are not talking to any of those blockheads from up north (don’t mean any disrespect).
Dont argue blindly please. There is a reason they call it a SERVER. Can you provide evidence that the head computer provides (i.e. SERVES) resources to hundreds or thousands of capturing machines. SERVER is a word that has been misrepresented by millions of people, so i wont blame you.

the results were transmitted via the card readers; there's an icon on the card readers for e-collation, and it can only be done through the internet.
The internet means the presence of a network. The card reader in this case was a CLIENT but that computer you were storing into was not providing you with any resources. You were simply storing on it. You did not provide any evidence that the computer was SERVING you any resources based on your request. So it can not be referred to as a SERVER. Enough said.

Nasa28:
Lolz.

Oya, what is the difference between a server and a computer?

And what is a server?
Lol. For there to be a server, there has to be a network. A server is a computer hosting your RESOURCES (in a lay man's language, your documents) and will "serve" (in a layman's PROVIDES) you with these documents when you ask for it either from your mobile, computer, another machine. We call these CLIENTS using technical words. This can be through online or offline. So I can have a computer hosting my RESOURCES and I might not have any client requesting for these resources. In that regard, it is NOT a server. A server "SERVES" (that is, provides) you with resources you request for.

A computer system is just a stand-alone system. It is when you connect any client to the computer system that it starts to SERVE the pages to your client. That is why it is called a SERVER because it SERVES. Again in your case, you are STORING information on a certain computer system somewhere, you DID NOT state that the computer system is SERVING you with any RESOURCES. A legal loophole that can be explored by a sound lawyer. So, INEC would be legally CORRECT if they say they DO NOT have a SERVER. lol

So where did i send the result collated in my unit via card reader?
You sent it to a REPOSITORY system. In your case, it is a computer hosting the database. That is NOT a SERVER.
