There is nothing really wrong in using the mother tongue to teach English in as much as it is properly translated. While growing up in the east one of the ways our teachers used to teach us English language was to write Igbo words and then translate them in English and vice versa, it makes it easier for the pupil to understand. So if they can write down words in Hausa and translate properly, I don't see anything wrong with that.

This is the teaching method used in rural areas across nigeria/Africa.Those children will finish school as bilinguals. They already speak their language fluently, so they use that language to teach them english. Let the ignoramus continue to expose themselves on nl.

This morning news report is that they are arraigning the workers of an hotel where it is claimed the robbers lodged the night before the attack. Even a housekeeper is among the accused. Very likely these are innocent people, while the robbers are sharing the loot with "them".

Funny, but I don't agree with launching attacks on kids at the slightest whim - Haba, that na wickedness now! Almost all the batteries sold today in the Nigerian market are trash! The wisest thing I ever did was to ask a friend who visited Japan to buy an original Exide Edge AGM 710 CCA battery for me. The day I respected that battery was when I travelled for over 4 months for a course and left it in the car unplugged. Came back and the battery still kicked in. No jump-starting, no recharging. If my car catches fire today (God forbid) I'll save the battery first before thinking of the car.

There are high quality car batteries in the market in nigeria but you have to look for them because the small shops don't stock them. At present I'm using sealed korean-made Hankook battery i bought 25k and no complaint. I have used similar maintenance- free original Korean batteries in the past - and they last a minimum of 36 months before packing up. My advice is, don't buy chinco no matter what the seller tells you.
