The problem with the elites and rich folks in Africa is that they always believe that they can fly anywhere for medicals. They're plain stupid because the flight from Nigeria to the U.K. is 6 hours and you won't even be airborne if you're not stabilized and even so, they'll even die before getting to the U.K.

I had thought they'd learn to put the necessary facilities in place after seeing the effect of the pandemic, but sadly, they still don't see the need to. Imagine the stupid and useless Ekweremadu going to the U.K. for a surgery that could be done at St. Nicolas hospital here in Lagos. Nigeria is one of the best locations to live in the world but sadly, many things to make it a functional society are not available. So, if you don't have the means to make it more functional for yourself and/or family, then it's wise to emigrate. And migration happens all over the world, it's not a bad thing, even if you live in the most safest of all countries, you might wanna migrate due to varieties of reasons.

I work with an international organization in Nigeria. Left Canada few years back. And I will tell you now that while healthcare isn't really strong in Nigeria, you can have access to doctors, nurses and health centre easily more than you can in Canada. It's also cheap. Some people prefer to fly home for surgery because of the expense.

I'm also currently in Canada for a conference. Need I tell you I can't even wait to leave already by next week.

You work in an international organization and I'm so sure that they don't use public hospitals for the employees, or well, maybe they only use the private clinics for the high ranking employees, which you might probably be among. In fact, a company that could sponsor you outside the country for a conference definitely see and believe in your potentials and will offer you the best of packages!

Now tell me, how many Nigerians have the opportunity to work in such organization? In fact, many Professors still struggle in Nigeria! And health is not cheap in Nigeria but it's affordable, and only if you have money will you enjoy it!

Even the elites don't use Nigerian health facilities except it's unavoidable. Wether you can't wait to leave Canada or not, it's your business.
