It's unfortunate Nigeria is not blessed with good leaders for choice. Buhari is not clueless, but rigid, slow and stubborn. Highly phlegmatic individual, he should have been trained to work emergency situations when younger. He's a one way traffic kind of person, which doesn't fit into the flexibility required right now. The Presidency said the scheme is VOLUNTARY
11 Northern states applied for it while the Southern states did not apply

And then the Presidency suspends the scheme.


The question is why was RUGA suspended since it was supposed to be voluntary?

I really do not blame any tribe or state for thinking otherwise because the Presidency are not transparent with this scheme

This is exactly what comes to mind whenever the ruga crap is mentioned. Since they claimed it was voluntary and willing states had indicated their participation, why suspend completely just because southern states refused to be part of it? It shows the FG and their Fulani brethren have ulterior motives they intended to execute in the southern states.

Again, why must it be public funds that will be deployed to establish the ruga for private cattle rearing business? Why won't the wealthy owners of these cattle pool funds and secure locations for ranches with d support of the FG through agricultural grants or low interest loans?

Now stupid MURIC is asking southern states to accept ruga for economic gains? What of the infrastructure and seaports southern states have been clamouring for to enhance commercial endeavours in the region? Is there no economic gain there? They're crazy! See his mouth like any visionary governor in the south; he hasn't heard that we strongly oppose and resist such visions? They should not see dat type biko!

The major tension on this ruga matter stemmed from the ultimatum by CNG that the FG must resume implementation of ruga in all 36 states within 30 days. The earlier information was that it was voluntary and only interested states would participate. Southern states snd some in d middle belt indicated they would not be part of it so why did the FG stop the implementation in those Northern states that had volunteered and provided land? Is there some form of connection between rejection of ruga in the South and implementation in the North? It is the suspension that made some people decide to threaten southerners resident in d north isn't it?

Could you shed some light on why the 'move on' by the FG was to shut down the implementation of ruga in the northern states that indicated interest? Does the refusal by southern and some middle belt states affect implementation in places like Gombe and Niger that declared readiness?

I would have thought that since the President is eager to minimise the herdsmen attacks they'd have quickly commenced action in the pilot states so why d total suspension?

A valid point to be made here also is the co constitutional rights of all citizens to live anywhere in the federation regardless of state of origin. If an Urhobo man decides to relocate and buy land in Kebbi to start a fishery business, he is legally entitled to. Same thing for a Kanuri man that wants to go to Ekiti and start a perfume shop. Both are Nigerians and can buy land and settle in any state. Once, you start chasing or driving away a certain ethnic group because of one issue or the other, it almost always attracts a reciprocal response.

The bold part is the major point and cause for concern. Why the FG hell-bent on establishing private cattle rearing business using public funds 90% of which are sourced form the South? Then to further worsen the injury, FG wants to achieve national spread of a purely private business and then the crazies further threaten that implementation must be nationwide and not even the originally conceived voluntary participation of states. What nonsense is that?

Meanwhile, nothing is being said of victims and survivors of the herdsmen attacks, no compensation, their lands are occupied with their properties destroyed. Where is the justice? Why should criminals be rewarded?
