Make US go sidon e jo. Just because they rule the world in basketball and their "football" doesn't mean they can just waltz into a competition where other countries have been playing for at least 100 years and claim top spot. They were lucky in 2002, thanks to an easy group, pure plain and simple ![]() |
Yeah, That goal shd give Ronaldo the confidence he needs further along in the competition. Based on Ghana's game today though, Brazil probably wdnt hv a chance ![]() As I predicted, look for him to leave the competition, win or lose, being the highest goal scorer of all time. |
Swish, Heat V Pistons? rnt they in the same conference? ![]() Did you perhaps mean to say conference finals? ![]() |
Oh yeah Farriel ![]() YIM me on anything that comes up from now on (udotot25) |
I think its cos of laziness (or whatever word qualifies to go here ) - they dont want to go through the natural process themselves and so c adoption as an easy way out to have children without going through the pains. |
Yeah I am happy they won. Granted, Dallas did very well, especially considering they have a black, first-time coach. For that alone, I hail them. This should send a strong message to the NBA as far as black coaching talent goes. Back to Miami. I am happy for the following reasons: - Pat Riley and Shaq have won the championship in both conferences: Riley as coach and Shaq as player - Gary payton and Alonzo Mourning can now retire, having played in the NBA for years - It is a good way for Mourning to end his career given how he came back from his kidney condition. - An team on the east coast, of which I am a resident, won ![]() Herez to a 2- and 3-peat!! |
Oga Seun, As I stated earlier, I smoked igbo, probably the wrong blend, this morning and my mind is a little "off". As I am typing sef, I am seeing things in 4-D. I just don't c a car with 4000km on it as "brand new". As for being intelligent, I don't know about that. As I have often said on this forum, I am not exactly what you would call the sharpest screw in the toolbox ![]() |
Again pucho, No vex o! I am just trying to understand more: how can you buy a 2005 car "brand new" in 2006? Also, an actual photo of the car would help. The one you have up there is definitely not the car you bought from Briscoe motors. The more answers you give, the better I could help you find a buyer. I know pple back at home who may be interested. thanks, |
From an in-law of mine who sets up cafes for a living, he says they are no longer as lucrative as they once were, especially due to lack of electricity which means higher fuel costs for a generator. Also, most owners refuse to practice prevention (for example, don't see the need to install anti-virus software until after they get bitten by a bug). In my opinion, and from my last visit, most cafes have taken this stance, cafes need to move beyond the generic cafe model - internet services, phone services and business center services. Rather, they need to move into other areas which in the end may provide more income than the cafes themselves. These include, but are not limited to: - Food (drinks, snacks, etc) - Video games - Clothes - Phone cards As always, my 2 cents ![]() |
In my humble opinion, given she said "cheating on him", I think dating is being equated to being intimate again. If not, please let me know and I stand corrected. From her comments above, I will say with confidence that she isn't over the guy and my advice to her would be to stay out of the dating scene for a while. When she is ready to get back, it shdnt be based on how many months since the guy died or some kind of tradition that somehow favors the men over the women, but on whether she is in fact ready. To me, again given her comments above, she isn't, and won't be ready anytime soon. Once she is ready, trust me, for one, the "cheating" feeling won't be there. As always my 2 cents |
I am not in naija but I did a quick google to come up with these sites that might provide you with an answer: http://www.jambonline.org/ http://www.jambng.com/press_releases.php I hope these help |
pucho, No offense, but am i missing something here, or is this post from 2005 and I'm not aware of this fact, or did I smoke the wrong kind of igbo this morning? ![]() how can a 2005 car be just "4 months old"? Do tell. Thanks, |
There there now paolo, Let's set our emotions aside (by the way, I am a fan of neither) ![]() On paper, Chelsea are set to take the title again. In fact, I am picking them to win it all next season, including the champs league. Just when you thought they were getting boring, they sign yet more stars. With the influx of foreign talent in Ballack and Schevchenko, they have nowhere to go but the top. Here's to the best team!! ![]() |
borngreat, My point exactly. I did mention that it was for "risk takers" and that those who can't handle the heat (aka non-entrepreneurs) should stay out of the kitchen ![]() Read my post again ![]() |
I personally can't say, but I can say this: take any business idea, irrespective of where they are or what it is about, with a grain of salt. All business ideas involve risk and if you aren't a risk-taker, you probably shdnt get involved. As they say, if you don't like it hot, stay out of the kitchen ![]() |
Hmmm, Booking for travel to Nigeria on a website. Somehow, that doesn't rub me the right way. I would rather book from an agent I could go to and strangle in the event they tried to 419 me LOL Sorry guys, but World Airways left a bad taste in my mouth. |
retro, There was a time when hip hop/rap sounded like the music it was supposed to be. Somewhere along the line though, something happened (what exactly, I cant say) and it all went downhill from there ![]() |
LOL Ashiwaju, Good one. Seriously though, its about time. Eye for an eye. As they say, in politics, there are no permanent friends, just permanent interests ![]() So right about now, the UK should be practicing the doctrine, "If u scratch my back, I will scratch yours". |
misanthrop, Of course being in Africa, "the dark continent", nothing good will ever come out of it. There are probably more scams coming out of my state of residence, Georgia, than in Nigeria as a whole. One question I always ask pple like you is this: If Nigeria were that bad, why are companies like Coke, Mobil, Chevron, etc still there? Why are companies like McDonald's planning to be there? I have been reading an edition of "The Economist" magazine. They supposedly carry economic news from around the world. Interestingly, when it came to Africa this week, they carried a news item about "Voodoo in Benin". Of course, I am smart enough to know that Benin, even though I have never been there, isn't all about voodoo, but I caught the subliminal message - there is no economic news when it comes to Africa. Sad indeed. The US and other "first world countries" are bad for things too - when I turn on my 6pm news here, the first 15 minutes are devoted to killings, 99% of which are carried out by african-americans. Does that mean I should conclude that all african-americans are mass murderers? Come on now misanthrop. Don't fall for the sole aim of the american media, which is turn your brain into mush. I bet you couldn't mention one positive thing about nigeria but would no what style Brad Pitt used to impregnate Angelina Jolie. I would strongly recommend broadening your horizon. Perhaps a visit to "the dark continent" wdnt hurt. |
For Ibibio sites, you could go to my site: http://www.geocities.com/myibibio For others, a quick google search wouldn't hurt. Hmmm, considering the pple who post questions, answers of which could be found on google, I wonder if I could start a company that does nothing but google searches ![]() |
Of course, if what u r saying is true, not many pple will pick up on it or care cos it is soccer, as opposed to baseball or NFL or NBA. Sad, sad indeed. |
mizkay, Not at all, but the fact of life is that there will always be discrimination and stereotyping, whether it is on naija levels and tribalism or oyibo levels and racism. Of course I don't advocate that one let it run their lives. Rather I am saying that it should be recognized from afar so that one can arm themselves appropriately. As long as there are 2 groups of people - majority and minority, irrespective of endaveour, expect one group to say they are being marginalized, even if they are the ones getting the most benefits. Also, those who r in the majority will always say there is no discrimination cos they don't experience it. Something to think about there folks. As always, my 2 cents ![]() |
Glad to be of help. I need to be in your coding circles man - it seems u land a new website contract a day ![]() |
I feel ya IAH, but I don't spk Yoruba and so will never watch those ![]() Nothing against movies made in a particular language, but I can only spk for those I can watch and understand. So if there are 1000 yoruba movies done in a week, and only 1 english movie, and in that 1 english movie, all i c is ibos, then to me, it would seem that only ibos star in movies. Obviously, other than pple like omotola whom I have read has starred in ibo movies, chances are that only yorubas will act in yoruba movies. I think we are just beating to pulp an already dead horse here ![]() |
Old Glory, Ewet housing no go do o! Anything short of that pammy joint for Ikot Oku Junction no go do ![]() As far as Ewet housing, I know some pple on F and G lines, so we fit hook up for dem place ![]() |
I guess I am going to have to be the whipping boy of this thread after what I have to say ![]() Though tragic, and I wish him well, was he wearing anything that maybe could have caused him to have less serious injuries, like a helmet or bike gear? I am sure someone of his financial/societal standing, who has also travelled the world would know to protect himself adequately b4 hitting the road, especially on a vespa for that matter. Oh well. Again, sad it happened and I wish him well, but let this be a warning to everyone - better to be safe than sorry. |
Let me rephrase myself ![]() I don't speak yoruba or ibo or languages other than Ibibio, and so I don't watch those movies. I am personally referring to english movies. 99.9999% of those I have watched feature 99.999% ibo, then just for kicks (in my opinion), they throw in someone from another tribe. Just to make it plain: I have no problem with who is in the movie. After all, in the states, 99.999% of movies feature whites. All I am after is a good movie that I can sit and watch with my family. Something to let my kids know what Nigeria is like and to look forward to. I could care less who is in it as long as they had the talent. I just thought I was the only one who thought the way the author of this thread did. ![]() |
LOL, Better yet, that there are more southerners than northerners |
Nollywood may not be tribalized per se, but it is very, very noticeable when for a particular movie, the majority of the actors are ibo. It could be cos: - they are the only ones with the cash to fund movies and naturally, they put pple the know in the movies - they are the ones who started it all and so again naturally, they go with who they know - only until recently, perhaps only the ibos appeared to hv the talent, or wanted to delve into movies in the first place. These are just open-ended, not-fact-tested "thinking out loud" reasons that I have and I could be wrong on every one of them. I have noticed though that bck in the day at least, it seemed to be that only ibos were in the movies. |
