Nah just traffic be the headache. If your arrival time isn't early hours like 9 or 10 I will highly recommend it. You can just enter area 10 from sauka there and stop at churchgate bus stop (300 naira).
From the busstop to trek to TLS contact is just 15mins.

No cheap hotel within that IOM center. Just go to Allen Avenue, opebi, salvation road or u better go to ogba. Na this areas u go see good 10k hotel.. Just book lag ride or bolt to IOM on ya appointment day.. Highest na 2k u go pay for taxi but if u know road, from ikeja under bridge, u enter bus (200 naira) to leventis bus stop then cross road and enter IOM or u enter (400 naira) bus direct to IOM gate from same ikeja under bridge.. It depends on the number of applicants in that center. So many external factors out of your control.
Also, how quickly it will take the VISA officers to verify your documents esp. your SOA.
Students normally apply for their VISA 3 months before resumption, so applying in JULY, AUGUST, SEPT. expect a higher influx of applicants at the center.

Hotels in ikeja are quite pricy. You might think of considering proxy locations like Ojodu, Ogba etc if you're considering cost. You'd only live early for your appointment.

I stay in Sunderland and school at Teesside. In terms of accomodation, the prices aren't that far apart. But try to secure accommodation early enough cause that is another war on it's own.

But if you're looking at more job prospects live in Sunderland which is closer to Gateshead, Newcastle, Durham, Washington.

As regards Middlesbrough, it will be harder cause the influx of Nigerians to Middlesbrough is on the rise oooo.. Middlesbrough is a small place.
