Pharmacists can do much more than dispensing within the hospital but you guys will not allow them...even when they want to make suggestions and inputs, you guys feel that they are challenging you. So most times they just mind their business and dispense. Who get time to be rubbing shoulders with immature people? But unfortunately, the patient suffers it.

That is why many pharmacists prefer to practice in the community setting (I guess you don't even know what that means)

Trivia:

Nigerian marriages have become marriage between families. It is difficult to divorce your nuclear family from the extended especially when you live in the same state, and your spouse cannot drink or eat without contacting the parents. How the other spouse deals with that is rocket science.

Sending her packing is exactly what her parents hoped I would do. In the end, na me go lose, with my kids in their house and my wife under their roof, I would be the bad guy. As a matter of fact, parents have one way or the other been instrumental in many broken homes. These ones believed I couldn't cater for their daughter as much as they wanted. Funny thing is, they also were struggling at the beginning years of their marriage. But now, are quick to despise days of little beginnings.

You cannot underplay the part of money in getting your wife's respect, and her family. It is very essential. Else you will be as good as that guy who is just living with their daughter, calling himself her husband. I can tell you, the respect has changed massively now. Im not saying other things are not involved o. I wish I could tell you more here. But take it from me. Money is very key. A husband should never lack it

On the part of marriage of convenience, I strongly disagree. It was simply love and compatibility. I think I mentioned that earlier.
I laugh at U in swahili..If You think you need money to garner wifeys respect then you are on a long thing.. U are obviously misinformed, based your preposition on an entirely wrong premise hence your view point..
A little more bits of relationship here and there before marriage could have provided more insights...When a woman truly loves hubby money is so so inconsequential..You don marry you don marry but train your son to understand the dynamics of marriage..It is essential for the man( in African context) to be the provider for family, but a temporary lack shouldn't undermine wifeys respect..Like a commenter said Yours is a marriage of convenience..FULL STOP

Politics / Re: Herdsmen’s Killing: IGP Declares War On Militias, Vigilantes by mylifeisagift(m): 11:57am On Feb 02, 2018
nwakibie3:
•Orders total clampdown, insists Benue killing result of communal clashes

•Umahi heads committee to talk with Miyetti Allah

Molly Kilete; Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, yesterday ordered state commissioners of police to as a matter of urgency disarm all militias, vigilantes and other security outfits set up by governors to protect their citizens.

The IGP equally reiterated his earlier position that the renewed killings in Benue State were communal clashes. He was speaking in Abuja when he met with officers with the rank of commissioner of police and above.

He said the Nigerian Constitution made it clear that only the security agencies were empowered to carry arms and ammunition.

Idris did not, however, state whether or not the same law applied to Fulani herdsmen accused of carrying sophisticated weapons and killing innocent citizens.

He said: “We are entering a very tedious and serious situations in this country.

“The political issues are coming up to the fore and officers must gear up in our various locations, in our various responsibilities to ensure that we provide law and order all over Nigerian.

“We are now coming into a political arena. Commands should be very conversant about the arming of militiamen or vigilante.

“Before a vigilante is established by government, you must have a bi-law, which must be passed by the house of assembly.

“It is the responsibility of the commissioners of police of the commands to study these bi-laws and see how they conform with the constitution and other laws of this country.

“But whereby through the connivance of some police officers you have a command arming militiamen under several names. Our officers are to brace up to face these challenges.

“No country, no government in this country have the responsibility to approve some prohibited firearms to any Nigerian under any guise.

“It is the responsibilities of CPs of commands to put close watch on the activities of some of these governors arming individuals, which is against the laws of this country.

“All of us are aware about these prohibited firearms. You cannot give approval for any individual to own a pistol. You cannot give an approval for any individual to own an AK-47, riffle.

“These are prohibited weapons and only the government has that authority to give that approval.

“I want to call on our commissioners of police of various commands, you have to be on the watch out for these abuses at various levels.”

To justify his claim that the incidents were communal clashes, Idris said: “About two or three days back, we had an incident we are investigating in Gboko, where seven Fulani men in pubic transport traveling to Taraba State and stopped at Gboko. The youths there seeing they were Fulani just pounced on them, killed and roasted them.

“I dispatched our monitoring team to Benue and arrests were made in that area and we are going to investigate it thoroughly.

“These are clashes occurring between two members of the community. As Nigerians, we should learn to live together, we should learn to be tolerant of each other.

“When I had a briefing with the traditional rulers in Port-Harcourt, I told them they have a lot to do to bring peace and harmony within their community members.

“This country needs leaders who should unite the communities, not leaders who create divisions.”

On why he was still in Abuja, despite President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to him to relocate to Benue, the IGP said:

“I was there for about eight days and when I was coming back, I left the DIG there.

“I came back from Port Harcourt yesterday (Wednesday). The situations in Benue and Nasarawa states have reduced drastically.”

Meanwhile, the National Economic Council meeting (NEC), headed by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday set up another sub-committee headed by Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, to meet with Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, (MACBAN) and other groups to end the continued killings.

The committee could invite others who could assist in holding dialogue with the critical stakeholders to end the killings.

This was disclosed to State House correspondents by the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum and Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, at the end of a three-hour meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Others in attendance were Governors Simon Lalong (Plateau), Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna), Jibrilla Bindow (Adamawa), Deputy Governors Benson Abonu (Benue), Moses Adeyemo (Oyo) as well as Ministers of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh and Interior, Lt Gen. (rtd) Abdulrahman Dambazau.

The NEC Working Group consisted of governors of Zamfara, Kaduna, Adamawa, Benue, Taraba, Edo, Plateau, Ebonyi and Oyo states.

The group was set up to end the impunity that marked the activities of Fulani herdsmen resulting in several deaths and maimings especially in Adamawa, Benue, Taraba, Plateau and Nasarawa states.

Daily Sun had reported on Monday that the Federal Government opted for full military force to deal with the bandits believed to be behind the killings in parts of the country especially regarding the crises often associated with herdsmen.

At its inaugural meeting, the group concluded that the crisis also required a political solution considering the religious and ethnic tones that could easily become exacerbated and possibly worsen the situation if proper and timely care was not taken.

When asked of the progress made to find lasting solution to the crisis, Yari said: “There is progress. One, this committee is a NEC committee established by the Vice President so that this issue of herdsmen/farmers clashes will be put to rest.

“It is a long standing problem since 2007 in some states particularly in my own state, we have been battling with it. The states and Federal Government agreed to have a small committee at NEC so that the situation will not get out of hand, so that it won’t be looked at as an ethnicity crisis or religious crisis.

“We have set up a committee headed by the governor of Ebonyi State, while Plateau and Adamawa governors are members. We are bringing some technocrats who will visit hotspot states, like Benue, Taraba, Adamawa and Zamfara, so that they can interface with the Meyitta Allah and other groups.

“Why we cannot say we can put this matter to rest is because some of them have taken this as a money making venture. Some are criminals who hide under this to perpetrate this act.

“As government, we have to take all the measures despite the fact that the Army, Police, all the security agents are on the field at the respective places, still we have to form this committee to interface with those actors to end the crisis.”

BREAKING NEWS; REP Emmanuel Egwu SPIT FIRE ON CATTLE COLONY
IDAH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY
Press Release

I, Hon. Emmanuel Makoji Egwu, on behalf of he good people of Idah Federal Constituency which comprises of Idah, Igalamela/Odolu, Ofu and Ibaji local government areas, wish to disassociate myself and Idah Federal Constituency which I represent in the House of Representatives from the purported establishment of a cattle colony in Kogi state.

My people are predominantly farmers. They fend for their families and loved ones through farming and Agro allied production. The danger of cattle colony in my Constituency is extremely alarming and is capable of resulting in avoidable farmers-headsmen clashes. It will generate severe crises between the Indigenes and the cattle colony masters, which will hamper economic and social activities. This may render our peace loving people vulnerable to unwholesome attacks.

The Governor of Kogi state and minister of Agriculture are hereby advised to rescind this unpopular concept and decision on establishing cattle colony in Kogi and Nigeria in entirety.

I solemnly sympathize with our brothers and sisters in Benue, Taraba, Kaduna, Adamawa, and other states that have been affected by recent violent attacks by cattle breeders.

God bless Idah Federal Constituency
God bless Kogi State
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Hon. Emmanuel M. Egwu (MHR), NASS

Family / Re: Why So Many Women Still Take Their Husband’s Last Name by mylifeisagift(m): 10:18am On Dec 28, 2017
teresafaith:
A recent study suggests men whose wives keep their name are viewed as more feminine

Visiting my family in the Midwest over the holidays, I returned to a topic that’s become very familiar ever since I became engaged a little more than a year ago: Whether I plan to change my last name after I get married.

Given that I’m the youngest person in my family to have the name Berman, my relatives were eager to know whether that lineage would end with my wedding in about a month or with my death (hopefully a long time from now). I assured them I’d stay a Berman forever.

This is something I’ve known for some time. A college friend recently told me he remembers my answer when asked about a future name change well before I knew whether I’d get married or my fiancé appeared on the scene. Incredulously, I apparently said something along the lines of: “I have a byline to maintain.”

Certainly, my career provides a valid rationale for keeping my name, but I’ve never understood why I have to give one. If I’m being honest, it’s hard for me to wrap my head around the logic behind why a recently married woman would change her name (except in a few, very exceptional circumstances).

I was recently reminded that this opinion is very much in the minority: A study published earlier this month in the journal Sex Roles found that the husbands of women who chose to keep their surname were more likely to be perceived as feminine than those whose wives changed their names.

“There are stereotypes about men whose wives retain their surnames after marriage,” said Rachael Robnett, a psychology professor at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and one of the authors of the study. That may be in part because the notion that a woman who marries a man is supposed to change her name is so entrenched in our society, she said.

Robnett’s research is only the latest evidence that the name change tradition has held on in a very strong way. According to a 2009 analysis of 2004 government data , just 6% of married, native-born American women had an “unconventional” last name, which includes keeping their maiden name, hyphenating their last name or taking on two last names. There’s some indication this trend may be shifting;
about 20% of women who married relatively recently kept their last names, according to a Google survey conducted by the New York Times. But the bulk of women marrying men still appear to be changing their names.
“As a gender researcher, I’ve noticed that there is pretty strong adherence to gender roles within heterosexual relationships,” Robnett said. “In so many other domains of society we actually see people pushing against traditional gender roles” like in the workplace, she added. So why is this one of the few traditions that continues to persist with little question? There are a variety of reasons, according to researchers:
• “It’s hard to make an argument for why it’s important other than it’s just important to the woman,” said Emily Shafer, a sociologist at Portland State University. And in the family or personal realm, we expect women to be “other interested” instead of self-interested, she said.
“To say I want to keep my name is in a way saying I’m going to put my identity ahead of traditional norms surrounding family,” she said.
“There’s no good solution when kids show up,” Shafer said. We’re still at a point where it’s incredibly rare for a child to take on their mother’s last name or receive a hyphenated last name. That means that even when a woman keeps her surname, it ultimately gets lost in the next generation in many cases. That may be motivation for women to simply give into the tradition and change their names, she said.

Fear of scrutiny: Robnett said she decided to look into how men whose wives kept their last names were perceived because she wanted to get a sense of whether husbands’ opinions were playing a role in their wives’ choices. “Obviously this isn’t a decision that women are making in a vacuum,” she said. “Maybe men are somewhat aware that these stereotypes exist.”
Other research indicates women who keep their names may also face scrutiny after they make that decision, which they’d rather avoid, Robnett said.

It seems romantic: Robnett notes the idea of a woman changing her name when she marries a man is tied up in a lot of the romantic ideas we have about love and marriage, which can be hard to push back on. In many cases the decision to change a last name is viewed as a signal of “devotion and love for their spouse” as well as “a show of family unity,” Robnett said.
But, she notes, the power of those ideas may be helping to maintain the stereotypes surrounding women who keep their last names and the stereotypes surrounding their husbands.
• Perhaps the most salient reason for why women by and large change their last names upon marrying a man: It’s what we’re used to , according to Laurie Scheuble, a sociologist at Penn State University.

The tradition of women changing their last names to match their husbands’ has its origins in the property transfer that took place upon marriage, Scheuble said. Essentially, women went from being part of their parents’ family to becoming their husbands’ property.
“Although we don’t have that property aspect anymore, we still have this whole gendered notion that women somehow are obligated to take the last names of their husbands,” she said. “It’s turned over to normative tradition.”

For the majority of boys and girls, the heterosexual couples they see have the same last name and so they don’t imagine doing anything different, Scheuble said. That was the case for my fiancé, who says that before we started dating he assumed that if he married, his wife would take his last name. He adjusted pretty easily to the idea that I’d be keeping my name, but nonetheless, it wasn’t what he’d grown up expecting.

My comfort in keeping my name may extend in part from having had the opposite experience. My mom kept her last name and, as it happens, so did most of the moms of my friends. And in my experience, many of the concerns that are often raised by the notion of a woman keeping her last name — that the family wouldn’t feel like a unit, that there would be challenges traveling or picking up kids from school, etc. — never came to pass.

But for people whose mothers changed their names after marrying, it can be hard to convince them that there won’t be challenges to having a partner with a different surname. Scheuble says she often talks with her college students about why they plan to change their names or expect their future wives to, and will play Devil’s Advocate. For example, she may respond to concerns that everyone should have the same last name with a question about why it can’t be the wife’s, but it does little to change their minds.
“The big thing about marital naming is that women still take their husband’s last name, that’s a big thing,” she said. “It’s the last socially acceptable sexism.”

https://www.morningstar.com/news/market-watch/TDJNMW_20171227124/update-why-so-many-women-still-take-their-husbands-last-name.html
All these plenty talks about keeping last name.
This is Africa and we have traditional rites that come with marriages..If it is the Husbands wish for the wife to keep her last name the prerogative is His..The wife has no claims to that..Except in very rare circumstances when branding is invloved..

Are they trying to say that as a tertiary hospital that they don't asses patients on their own but solely depend on the diagnosis of a referring hospital? He was referred because it is assumed that they (LASUTH ) has more expertise and are in better position to make appropriate diagnosis and treatment. The referring physician only wrote a referral note and not law that must be followed to the letter.
I seriously still can't comprehend what the CMD is insinuating.....What is the essence of a referral? Even if their management was wrong, the onus lies on the bigger institution to do their thing...Very disappointed!

So he shouldn't comment on Nigerian Politics b'cos he is Congolese...Politics and Religion are no professions..So they aren't the preserve of a selected few..Everybody should be actively involved in politics..

Why are you so pained, did one leave you behind?
Yes, they're special
You think anybody will fall into your grave with you?
You don't need to do anything you don't like and it's funny how you are the one defining what being the superior intellectual being is
I don't really get why you take it upon yourself to bear these burdens
What they're asking for you wouldn't give, yet you're here thinking anybody is looking for your pity or glory, when all you have to do is petty.
You are beginning to sound pained too..The guy passed the message in a harsh tone but it is actually true.
