CSTR2: The core north you mean and that unity is only because or shared religion but that is just 2 out of 6 zones in Nigeria while the middle belt can swing both ways depending on who is contesting. Politics is a game of interest, the mover and shakers in the political parties will align and realigned to support whoever will best preserve their interest while furthermore keeping the country as one. If the Igbos play their game well that have a better chance than the core north because they have the south-south as a natural ally and can get the sentiment of not to have lead Nigeria before couple with the fact that the northern minorities and Christian will easily vote a southern Christians due to ongoing Fulani problem. Supporting another Fulani/core-north will be a psychological setback to the east and this will reinforce the north resolved to keep power perpetually. 1 Like |

Correcto: The Yorubas hate Igbos more but Igbo are easily killed whenever there is a breakdown in law and order in the north! Yoruba hate Igbo more, you all gorilla can beat your chest and go away with it, something you can't try in the north. Yoruba hate you more, while a Yoruba president in the name of Obasanjo positioned and placed Igbos in the key position of his gov't when there more qualified Yoruba. Keep deceiving yourself and downplaying who your real enemy is. 1 Like |

gidgiddy: But the same Igbo here are saying they prefer the core north to lead the country and that their real enemy is the Yoruba despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. The reality is Nigeria is overdue an Igbo president and there are more than competent Igbo candidates but the question is on what platform will these Igbo run? 8 Likes |

0m0nnakoda: Don't mind that guy, he thinks religion is a uniting factor between himself and the Hausa-Fulani. I can see through the shenanigans of the Hausa-Fulani to them religion is a means to an end for lots of them and they are the most mischievous group here in Nigeria. The Hausa- Fulani people are the moat backwards group in Nigeria, they exhibit all what is bad about this country. Ills ranging from violence, poverty, intolerance, corruption, lack of know-how etc. They are the major reason this country is a joke. |

mrvitalis: You don't sound too bright my friend. The Yoruba gat nothing to gain from an Igbo presidency. To the Yorubas the Igbos and the Hausa-Fulani are the same, they are both treated as political advisory whose power must be fought with, so an Igbo president will not benefit them more than a northern president and precedence set during Jonathan as a point to Igbos being more arrogant and tribalistic when giving the position. of power. |

CharleyBright: Because there was never a south, to begin with. The south was made up of two regions and you can see that these two old south regions always have a similar voting pattern and political pattern. The only uniting factor in the north is religion. The Muslim north ( northeast and west) always vote based on religious solidarity reasons why Buhari always a difficulty winning states in the north-central and Christians in the northeast until 2015. You see my friend, southerners are not foolish, they just don't have anything to gain collectively for putting a uniting figure due to ethnicity and possibly ideological differences. The Irony is that you guys bash the north for voting in one way for a candidate irrespective of whether such a candidate is qualified or not but then turn around to blame the south for doing opposite. |
Politics / Re: The North owns the Game. by myobjective: 9:11am On Mar 15, 2020 |
mrvitalis: You are bitter because no one will give the Igbos the presidency on a plate? Instead of you guys to do the work, rally round a candidate and do the groundwork to make him presentable and acceptable by the rest of the country. The Igbo deserve to have a shot at the presidency and failure to have an Igbo may lead to Nigeria disintegrating but the Igbos political elites themselves are not even ready to play the game and get what they deserve, instead will have people without direction that will rather latch on any propaganda they can lay their hands on in other to antagonized the Yorubas. No serious northern will contest for 2023 because they know the presidency is coming down south, it is left with the Igbos to fight it out with the Yorubas in APC 2 Likes 1 Share |

helinues: You get sense brother. Sanusi has close to zero political bases in the north and Ipob are already rejoicing because they detest the Yoruba rather than fight the southwest for the presidency that is coming down south. The only fair I have is that Nigeria can't afford to sideline the Igbo for another 8years without all hell not breaking lose. Nigeria needs an Igbo president to reassure them that they a part of the Nigeria project but at this time the minorities of the south have a better chance than an average Igbo politician. |

[img][quote author=Jaubdu post=87451994]. You agree with me on one thing....Sanusi is just that distraction. In my own opinion, El Rufai needs Sanusi (interest). He has friends and contacts globally hence his dethronement period is the right time to act. There is no distraction anywhere. If you haven't gotten the memo please do. The presidency is coming down south and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Coming back to Sanusi issue, he doesn't have any serious electoral value and the power brokers in the north can't trust him due to his arrogant disposition. So, el rufai get nothing to gain from Sanusi politically. Finally, people with close to zero political know-how always like to attribute power that the northern establishment to them, always reading meaning to every political tussle in the north because of the deep inferiority complex of some. 2 Likes |

[quote author=Front0lane post=87372545]This is tales by moonlighgt to fool your souls on not for me. The post of the CBN governor is a political post, if southerners can not lobby to earn the post that is their father's problem, not mine. Since 1999, there have been three southern CBN governor and one northern governor. Obviously, southerner dominates the banking and finance industry. You mean with all the backlog of qualification Soludo gathered he is not as eloquent as Sanusi n I never noticed that ?! Soludo is very eloquent. Have you heard him speak? Southerner claim to be more qualified than the northerners but when appointed to where they should distinguish themselves with their row call of qualifications there is little or nothing to distinguish the two. In most cases, southerners are more qualified than northerners for the simple reason that they take education more serious which then leads to them dominating the organized private sector which then produces most of the technocrat we have. Soludo achieves more as a CBN governor, he won more awards as a CBN governor because he was more qualify than Sanusi. Since 1999 every power minister as been a southerner yet we have no light till date but you were here bragging about qualifications. You actually know so little about the power Industry. The Nigeria government doesn't have the resources to generate enough power and the people are too poor to buy power at a competitive price at the open market, hence the power sector can't be completely privatised. Fashola did extremely well in his capacity as the minister of power, he reforms it and allows the ministry to run efficiently well but he is not the distribution or transmission company he is limited in what he can do. 1 Like |

Front0lane: A southerner with Sanusi's qualification will never become CBN governor at that time in 2009. Check out his education achievement: Bachelor degree from ABU Zaria (economics) and master degree from the same institution. Compare this to Soludo's education qualification: Soludo is a core professional in the business of macroeconomics. Charles obtained his three degrees and then professorship at the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, Enugu State. Soludo graduated with a First Class Honors degree in 1984, an MSc Economics in 1987, and a PhD in 1989, winning prizes for the best student at all three levels. Let us compare their professional carriers before CBN. Prof Soludo has been visiting scholar at the International Monetary Fund, the University of Cambridge, the Brookings Institution, the University of Warwick and the University of Oxford and a visiting professor at Swarthmore College (USA). Chukwuma has also worked as a consultant for a number of international organisations, including The World Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the United Nations Development Programme Sanusi was in 1985, hired by Icon Limited and Barings Bank. He joined United Bank for Africa in 1997, working in the credit and risk management division but later rose to the position of general manager. In 2005, he became the executive director in charge of risk and management control at First Bank of Nigeria. In 2009, Sanusi became the first northern Nigerian to head the bank after he was appointed CEO Let us check their publications: Soludo North-South Macroeconomic Interactions: Comparative Analysis using the MULTI MODE and INTERMOD global models for the Brookings discussion papers in international economics, Brookings Institution – 1992 Implications of alternative macroeconomic policy responses to external shocks in Africa in the Development research papers series for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Socio-Economic Research and Planning Division – 1993 Growth performance in Africa: Further evidence on the external shocks versus domestic policy debate in the Development research papers series, for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Socio-Economic Research and Planning Division – 1993 The Consequences of US Fiscal Actions in a Global Model with Alternative Assumptions about the Exchange Regime in Developing Countries – 1994 Finally, Soludo was never in the same bracket with Sanusi. Though Sanusi is eloquent, anyone with a basic education can also be eloquent. What makes a man to stand out is his reforms and contribution to knowledge. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Nowenuse: That is why I always differentiate between the Muslim and the Christian North. The Christian northerners are very progressive people you will even differentiate them from average southerners even here in the north. The core north actually enjoyed the military patronage than any group in Nigeria but due to lack of capacity, they actually squandered most of the wealth. Reasons why some of their towns still have most of the infrastructure built during the military era. Do you know that Suleja town actually has a running pipe born water as early as the year 2000? GRA like Suleiman Barrau way has federal gov't built estate that occupies a 1/4 of the actual city before the explosion in population. I reside in this area between 1993 to the year 2001, between this time electricity was constant, pipe-borne water was 24hours and the area was serene but if you go back to this area it is now a shadow of itself. If the military government was actually fair to southerners and as they invested in the north, there wouldn't be any room for comparison between the south and the north, the later would be so far far ahead of he later in any form of development. 1 Like |
