UdechiHD:How did Awolowo introduce tribalism into Nigeria politics? Repeating a lie numerous times will not change the reality that it is a lie. We understand the greed of the Igbos, they want to take what doesn't belong to them and the Yorubas will never allow that to happen |
Americanboy35:Please did you find time to go through the interview, sir? He didn't make any good point, he was deflecting most of the question asked but because of your perceived hatred for the Yorubas, you are applauding him. These are the salient point the guy fails to do justice to in this interview: 1. How do we solve our current security issues: he answered by opposing the initiative of regional police to support the centralized police system that we are all condemning that is not fair to all ethnic nationalities. 2. He opposed any form of restructuring to giving more power to the central government because he believes his ethnic group will always have the upper hand if the status quo continues. 3. He rationalized the quota system to mean bringing the less productive and poorly educated northern to be at parity with the south without considering what the south sacrifices for such to happen. My conclusion, northern political figures like him don't mean well for what we want Nigeria to be. They want a Nigeria where socialist policies that favour them and their religion to be implemented at the sacrifices of development and progress. |
Tflesk:Where did you get this statistics from? But all the information available shows that the reverse is the case. |
SaintLucia:A wise man will look at the message instead of questioning the personality and antecedent of the messenger |
PHijo:Technically, no one is stealing anything since Bayelsa and all the oil-producing states are still constituents of the Nigeria state until the constitution is changed no arm is done |
Godons1:This is what I tell easterners eyeing the hydrocarbons of minority groups shouting about restructuring or Biafra. The question is what does the east possess or contribute to the centre now to warrant such hubris from them. The reality is the east should be the last region to shout or demand restructuring. |
Enwhen:Biafra that wants restructuring are those unemployed youth and those defeated politician from the last polls. The eastern politicians in Abuja and those in their respective states as governors, commissioners, permanent secretary and political office holders are not talking about break up restructuring, this should indicate to you that the elites are all comfortable with the status quo. Nigeria will be restructured if all the political and business elite from the south and middle belt all agreed to it, ranting of nonentities like us on social media will not change anything |
Lipscomb:When a fool loss an argument or they have nothing to say, they invariably result to insult, I will not engage an empty barrel-like you. Stay in your lane |
Enwhen:How do you reach this verdict? It amazes me how greatly you assign too much power to the North or northerners generally, and I have observed this is more widespread among our south-east brothers, perhaps it is due to all the religious conflicts they have suffered in hands of Hausa-Fulani. Get this straight, No president can truly restructure Nigeria until the legislators and the president all concede to a constitution conference where our Constitution can be rewritten to enable for true restructuring. So, my friend stop assigning the power the north or northerners do not possess to them |
mrvitalis:What about Shagari presidency in 1979 and 1983, was he not from the not west? The simple truth is the presidency is only rotated between the north and the south. When it comes to each of these regions, the sub political zones will trudge it out among themselves. No one will handle the presidency on a plate to the Igbos. Brace up, the Yorubas are coming out in full force to take the APC and if they play their game well they will be president |
Lipscomb:Don't go there my brother! The south-south ( oil-producing state) by accident of nature has been endowed immensely. Imagine what 2 million barrel will do for a county of only 15m people? It will turn to overnight paradise no matter how clueless or corrupt the leaders are. Saudi Arabia is a case study. So stop deluding yourself, abundant resources for a moderately low populated region will perpetually alleviate the people to greatness |
PHijo:I agree with you those oil-producing states deserve to keep all the money earned from the crude oil in their land but we must also ask what they have done with meagre giving to them. |
IpobAntidote:If you go through the interview you will know that he did, he said and I quoted "When I was elected President the agitation was true federalism but now it is restructuring" Now, people want something else |
itsme01:Restructuring means resources control, review of military fiat we called a constitution, going back to true federalism where the states are truly independent of the central. It will now be left with non-viable state to coalesced with those viable state similarity with in religion or ethnicity. |
djon78:I have a friend from Katsina that we normally discussed political matter with from our university days. There was a day we were discussing and this same issue came up. That day, he raised an important point that we southerners and middle beltan can't continue to blame the core-northerners for all the ills of society, since we now have democracy where each states and regions are represented in the national assembly and however, the south and middle belt together have more representative and hence can force the core-north to do what is right. The question is what are our representatives doing in the national assembly. If a state like Kano decided to ban alcoholic sales when the constitution allows the consumption of alcohol, why must they partook in the sharing of tax accrue from such. What then is our legislature doing when alcohol is mostly consumed in the south and Kano get a lion share of tax from alcohol sales when they don't even allow it in their domain? If Nigeria must change, we must all play of part from the type of people we elected to represent us at the federal government |
Dupamecano:If you stop your hubris then we can have a meaningful conversation here my guy. I'm not just any southerner, I'm a northern born and bred Yoruba. I speak the language, attended all my schools here in the north. I was forced to study Hausa literature for three years in secondary school, so I know what I'm saying. Nigeria is generally a low-income country across board but the northern region is far far behind other part of Nigeria in so many things like literacy, poverty alleviation, social mobility, tolerance, conducive environment for investment and trade. Can the north improved her position if she is willing to opened up and undergo social reform? The answer is yes, but also she mustn't piss off her neighbors in the south in other to warrant them to demand having a different country. I started Following active political happening since 2000 and I know how many pioneering democratically elected governors from the north wasted a golden opportunity to positioned their states on the path of growth to chase what I termed political "Sharia" all in the name of getting cheap popularity from the army of illiterate and religious intolerance followers. Thereby, sacrificing real nation building through investment in education, female empowerment and general well-being of their people. The only governor that tried in this respect was that of Katsina (Sheu Musa Yaradua, may God forgive his sins). He build road, schools, empowered women and opened up the states to the outside world, despite all these most people in the urban area hate him (especially the Izala movement in the state) , they even labelled him unbeliever. He won his re-election thanks to those in the rural areas who saw is good works in the domain, since most urban dwellers were radicalized by this religious promoters. Fast forward to today, Zamfara state, which was at the fore front of "political sharia" implementation is the poorest and one of the most unstable state in the north while Yerima stole the state dry and refuse to invest a dime in any critical sector is being praised as a promoter of the deen. Until the northern middle class like you can have a very deep thinking and carry out a social revolution being propagated by his excellency Emir Sanusi, the north will always remain backward and their backwardness will make Nigeria and west Africa to be unstable. |
Nowenuse:Hausa-Fulani like to tell others and themselves comforting lies, they are afraid to face their demons of laziness, unproductive, intolerance, backwardness and illiteracy. The few enlighten and educated ones that has gotten to their present conditions through the backdoor of nepotism and quota system want to always continue the narrative that all is well when the reality is staring the face in the form of insecurities, poverty, Illiteracy, under age pregnancy, being the largest baby factory in the word etc. The reality is Nigeria would have been a better country without this group. |
First of all its a well known fact that you lot were barbarians running about unclad, no better than bonobo gorillas and still would be if not for the europeans who saved you. The Benin Empire had contact with the Portuguese as far back as the 15th century when most Hausa State were still living like barbarian " Portuguese arrived in Benin, Nigeria, in the fifteenth century, to trade with the Benin empire when Hausa were still raided by the Songhai for slave(Kano became a tributary state of Songhai after its capture about 1513 by Muḥammad I Askia of the Songhai empire) Also the fact that you lot claim education and still are so oblivious to the things going on around you makes you educated illiterates. If we are who you claim we are and you allow us to hold you back what does that make you?Nigeria centralize system is what is actually holding the rest of Nigeria back. During the colonial era, the north was by far the poorest region in Nigeria, reason why it was joined together with the colony of Lagos and southern protectorate " The British treasury initially supported the landlocked Northern Nigeria Protectorate with grants, totalling £250,000 or more each year. Its revenue quickly increased, from £4,424 in 1901 to £274,989 in 1910. The Southern Protectorate financed itself from the outset, with revenue increasing from £361,815 to £1,933,235 over the same period" Like i said you educated illiterates have been brainwashed into blaming the north for everything. You have leaders, senators ministers governors and presidents at various points and all they did is rob you blind. You lot have higher allocations and somehow today a lot of northern governors are performing better than yours. Instead of you to hold them accountable all you think about is the north like obsessed side chicks. Like i said, educated illiterates. You must be insane to believe this garbage you typed above, Northerners are generally more corrupt and less innovative when given the opportunity to lead any state or society reasons why 87% of poor Nigeria reside in the north. They are always reactionary and daft of any critical thinking reasons why the core north is one of the most backward region not only in Nigeria but world over. If we are to very frank the core north doesn't deserve any allocation because they hardly bring anything to the table and they are not ready to improve on themselves. |
Dupamecano:Actually, Majority of Abuja land belongs to the Gbagi people of Suleja Emirate, the people are Gbagi but the emirate was under the Zaria emirate and during the Jihad of Usman Dan Fidoye, Zauzau was moved down to Suleja and present day Abuja, but the Gbagi in Abuja are a majority Christians, reasons why the only senator representing FCT has always being Christians. I'm very conversant with north central very well and I can tell you that majority of people in this zone apart from Niger state and obviously Kwara and Kogi are Christians. The ethnic riots in the north has made these people to detest core-northerners. This also result in senseless killing of Hausa-Fulani (Muslim) on highway leading to Bauchi in Plateau states and road in southern Kaduna. If Nigeria were to disintegration today, most of the areas inhabited by northern minorities will be reluctant to go with the core-north because of the history of intolerance of core north and the mutual suspicious both group have for one another. Finally, hubris of people like you is doing more arm to the Hausa-Fulani than good, religion should never be the overriding factor to how you relate with your neighbors and people in most cases share similarity with you. Tribes in southern Kaduna, Kebbi, Plateau have a lot in common to the Hausa but religion has created too much hatred that in most cases lead people to go up in arm |
Dupamecano:Henceforth, I'm not going to continue this stupid back and forth augment with you, you lack the capacity to engage in any meaningful debate. |
Dupamecano:You are a fool. Spectator index is not a recognized institution for any serious population data, the only institution recognised the world over for such information is the Cia factbook |
Dupamecano:Which stupid spectator index? I want a world-renowned organization slowpoke |
Dupamecano:Bross brink out your source, this is not "mai shai joint" where you can tell all the lies in this world. I want to see your source |
Kemz77:This is not Ibadan but Abeokuta |
Dupamecano:You must be high on "codeine" Hausa is the Chadic language with the largest number of speakers, spoken as a first language by some 44 million people, and as a second language by another 20 million. The total number of Hausa speakers is estimated at 63 million, according to Ethnologue. Wikipedia |
Dupamecano:How deluded can you be. To begin with, the Hausa are not even the most prominent civilization to come out of what is now called Nigeria. There are better civilization from the south, such as the Oyo empire and the Benin empire, empires renowned for craft and civilization. Secondly, the Hausa or Sokoto caliphate is not even the most renowned civilization in sahellian, where Songhai empire of Mali dominated for years. The Sokoto caliphate was the youngest empire in Nigeria and it only lasted for 99 years. |
Dupamecano:You just ignorantly blabbing my friend, there is no single data to support your postulation. All studies shows that Swahili is the most widely spoken language in Sub-Saharan Africa. Hausa is not spoken by 50% of Nigerians, there are northern minorities that don't speak Hausa as either first, second or third language. Hausa is only widely spoken in Niger republic out of the other sahelian country in West Africa. Here is the list of languages spoken by Nigeria neighbors in the north Chad: Chadian arabic is the lingual franca Cameroon: Fufulde is only spoken by minorities in the north of the country (they account for less than 20%of the country population) Benin: Fon and Yoruba are the most widely spoken Niger: Hausa is only spoken by 54% of the population (about 14m people) other non bordering Sahellian nation like Mali, Burkina Faso, Central Africa republic etc hardly understand or speak any Hausa language. So, how would Hausa speaker exceed that of Swahili? |
Ohh yeah KSA, UAE, Qatar, Jordan etch are self destructing. I wonder why you lot cant stay away form these countries. If theres anything constant in this life its change. 200 years ago if anyone stipulated that the ottoman influence will be restricted to turkey and the turks be as feeble as they are now no one would agree.KSA, UAE and Qatar all very small population compared to their hydrocarbon wealth, they are rich not because of any sweeping reform or technological breakthrough but because they were lucky to be sitting on huge hydrocarbon deposit. For example, KSA produces about 11m barrel of crude oil and million of gas per day for a population of just 34m people, if Saudi was a secular state with strong institution it would have been much richer than it is now. Jordan is a typical poor middle income nation that still depend hugely on the mining industry, it is not a stellar example of Muslim excellence because their isn't any my friend. |
MetaPhysical:The core north can't be sideline and it will not do anyone any good to sideline them but we must let them know that they can't sideline or assume supremacy over anyone one in Nigeria. What we need to do is to revisit the "military constitution of Nigeria" which has made it impossible for Nigeria to grow and actualized her potential. |
Dupamecano:Both of you are the same coin of the opposite side. You accept Islam a monotheist religion of the middle east while he accepts Christianity, another monotheist religion of the middle east. |
fk002:Look at the bolded, how would people you hold is such a manner ever show you, love? It is hypocritical of you to expect love from a people you perceive in such a manner. If we don't do away with all this religious hatred and disdain for one another our country will never work |
fk002:In the event that Nigeria disintegrates you can't force a reticent partner to persist with you, you will have to convince them to remain in the same country with you. |
