Maduawuchukwu:You go wait tire |
mrvitalis:Southeast can do whatever thing they like we don't care. The precedency is coming down south. The Yorubas, Edos, Ikwere, Ijaw, Anang etc can all vie for it since the Igbos have sold their birthright to Atiku (Fulani). |
Arrewa:Your head corrects jare my brother. We will all developed together. The north and the west |
mrvitalis:You have never supported Buhari in your life. All this eye service to please the north will not do you any good. Whether you like it or not the next president will be from southern Nigeria. The Igbos can decide to sell their own ticket to Atiku a northern Fulani man out of cowardice, that is their own problem. |
Tomide007:Oga there are plenty Kawara Christians and plenty Ondo Muslim. I'm conversant with these two states, so I know what I'm saying. |
mrvitalis:Will you die of you don't associate yourself with the SS? No one is calling the Igbos to fight for zoning when the north knows that power is coming down south whether children like it. The east are the defeated group, people with a self-esteem problem, they see the north has some kind of superpower political gladiator than cant be defeated. |
hegelian:Why will he attacked the south-west? We are not chest beater that fails to develop our region but worried about happenings in other people's territory. |
mrvitalis:I should be the one asking you about your comprehension skills. Comparing south Africa standards of living with that of Nigeria is pointless to begin with but because all of you are bitter you will turn logic on its head just to spite the government of the day. Your hate for Buhari government is not because of his underperformance but because of his ethnicity and the fact that you guys are in opposition for the first time in your political "ashawo" life. |
mrvitalis:Most of you irritate me. South Africa is richer and had 100 years head-on. It is richer in land and other solid minerals, couple with her small population. If not for the apartheid the country should be developed by now. Lots of you believe that 2m barrel of crude oil can magically turn a poorly run and unproductive country like Nigeria to eldorado, you people will have to think ago. |
jidxin:These people don't know that Ilorin people are pure Yoruba from Oyo, I still have relatives in Ilorin that can trace their origin to Oyo ile. |
Tomide007:No mind that guy jare. Their matter don tires me. You will see them arguing aimlessly on a topic they know close to nothing about. Ilorin is one of the most Yorubanized city in Nigeria, one will find it difficult to survive in Ilorin if one can't speak Yoruba. You will hardly differentiate a Kwara and Oyo/Osun people. |
Simbrixton:No mind all those children of hate! When any Ondo or Kwara person commit crime now you will see them shouting "Afonja" |
jidxin:I will put that figure at 80% and the other ethnic minority are gradually becoming Yoruba self. You will see a Kwara Nupe playing "Saheed Osupa, Pasoma etc. |
hammerU:Ondo is a pure Yoruba state, we are Yorubas and nothing else. |
[sup][/sup] farouk111:Have they started shortlisting people and please how did you get this information? |
Tunde835:China and India were better than Nigeria in the 1980s. |
Em5:The biggest problem here is that the population is exploding at 3% per annum without any effort to diversify away from crude or reduce the population to reflect our economic reality. I don't consider what we are expressing as steady progress, more people are sliding into poverty annually. Agriculture and small scale industries which should be engine of growth is seriously ampere by current insecurity and economic policies of the government. We the citizens also have a role to play, by investing more into our small scale, agro processing and small scale mining. We also need to reduce our birth rate considerably and our taste for foreign goods. |
frosbel2:The two are not mutually exclusive. China is the second-largest economy in the world and her people are much poorer than say Japanese. |
Odinaka00:It is more complex than that. The apartheid South Africa really messed up the country, living the majority of the population poorly educated and unable to contribute to the modern economy. Apartheid South Africa was only built for 10m white and to some extend Indian immigrant why the majority of black South Africans who were the majority lives in abject poverty. It requires more effort to bring these poor, uneducated, unproductive majority out of poverty. Reasons why it very hard for the government to continuously maintained the poformerce recorded by the apartheid gov't. Corruption is a also a factor. Government bureaucracies are corrupt all over the world and it is worst in developing countries without the institution to check and balance. Finally, South Africa major problem is lack of educated manpower than can propel her into the next face. |
Cchuks27:No sir, the last time I checked, Saudi Arabia has a population of 27m people with 12m barrel of crude oil production since the 1947. UAE has a population of less than 10m people with with over 1m barrel of crude. These two countries can't be compared to Nigeria |
9jaRealist:You are right bro. Nigeria GDP figure including the informal sector in term of price parity will be around $1.8trillion. From most of research done, the informal sector is almost 50% of the formal economy. The biggest problem is planning and our over dependence in crude oil as a source of forex earning. |
Cchuks27:I will take it that you have so little knowledge about South Africa! South Africa has a 100 years head start over Nigeria. She has a very developed mining industry which was developed by the British in the early 19th century, bigger landmass, well-developed manufacturing sectors for over 100 years. So, how is Nigeria richer than South Africa? Nigerians are living in fool paradise, unaware of the enormous task they need to carry out to position their country on the part of growth. Filled with an entitlement mentality that they don't plan, work hard enough, pay tax, want all the subsidy in this world and wail endlessly when things are not going well. The line of thinking that 2million barrel of crude oil will automatically turn Nigeria into a powerhouse is laughable |
[quote author=Dupamecano post=87124830]Subjective, but we can agree to disagree. My disposition when it comes to this particular matter doesn't have to correspond with yoursYes, we don't have agree on that but common sense and logic suggest I may be right. Most of the concepts introduced by islam were in fact very progressive. Did a lot for woman empowerment (did you know that some arabs murder their female newborns out of disappointment?) in that age and was able to unite the divided arabs from a race of herders to an organized society that almost brought the world to their feet. Did a lot for their economy as well. Whether you believe in the religion or not the general consensus is that it left the region exponentially better than he found it. Nothing promoted by the religion was alien or unusual during its era so the term backward is just not accurate. The only thing I will agree with you here is that Islam end up uniting the Arabs who were very tribal and Nomadic in nature. To begin with, Arabs before Islam were very tolerant, reasons why Mecca was a center of worship and a pilgrimage site to lots of religious group. You can find Christians, Jewish and different pagan groups living in peace in Mecca and most Arab settlement before the advent of Islam. Most ancient civilization treat women badly, so the pre Islam Arab were not an exception but no written evidence suggest they treat women and female child in such a way portray by you. In fact, Mohammed views about women in the Quran and his behaviour towards them in the hadith suggest that he view them in the same ways like middle age pre Islam Arab, only that he now codefied the law to suit himself alone. I will also agree with you that Islamic civilization was better than what the Arab have in place before that but other close civilization like the Persian, Egypt were much better and Islam only hard to the demise of these civilization. A lot of people dont understand the religion and tend to selfishly manipulate its teachings to suit their agenda. There are a lot of things that are misinterpreted by some muslims from punishments for apostasy and conditions for war.The problem is most people are actually knowledgeable about the teachings of the Quran and what the hadiths says about things like apostasy and conditions for war but how modern concept of right and wrong or about human right has rendered most of these Quranic and religious injunction on these matters to be very inhumane and achaic. So, the people are now better informed about the world around them since information is now more readily available hence they question the Sharia and it's law that goes against common sense. As far as religions place in society the thing is most people believe in subjectivity except when it comes to religion then its black and white. Religion just as all other non fact based opinions is not something that you should seek to impose on others. Its something between you and whichever creator you believe in. For a muslim this means praying, zakat, salat etc, things that are your prerogative. In the end when dealing with issues that affect the general populace one should always seek an agnostic approach to things otherwise these clashes in ideology are bound to happen. A lot of christians dont treat muslims fairly and vice versa but expect the other group to show them the same when the power dynamics are switched. If we cant learn to compromise on these issues we are not going anywhere.Islam can't be practised without it being imposed on others, it is not only a spiritual movement but also political. The spiritual was part designed to divert the attention of the onlooker away from their main motive. The moment you start using common sense to judge issues relating to general populous you are no longer a Muslim. A true Muslim must live and die by the laws of the almighty Allah as compiled in the Sharia, anything outside that is not allowed. Reasons why a deeper knowledge of the religion will either leads to terrorism or atheism, there is no middle ground. Christians would have been worse than Muslim but their religion has been reformed and changed to be less harmful to society but only harmful to practitioners whose hard earn money are taken away from under the pretence of the tithe and other fraudulent scheme. |
Dupamecano:No religion is perfect and monotheistic religion such Christianity an Islam are worse. Islam is the problem not really the Muslim, Islam is a religion that started in a volatile backward Arabian where most of its teachings promote hate and crime among humanities. Some Muslim is good not because of Islam. The truth is, most Yoruba don't practise Islam the way it should be practice ditto most northerners. People look at the good harmless aspect of the religion like 5 daily prayers, fasting during the month of Ramadan, giving zakat etc without following the teachings to the latter. A good Muslim to the general populace is actually a hypocrite or someone with no knowledge of the deen. If you are knowledgeable enough to follow the sunnah of the prophet to the latter you will be termed a terrorist. |
adamx23:Keel deflection, no one give a Bleep about who you respect but the reality will always point to a north that needs to seriously put her house in order. The only similarity the Hausa and Yoruba may share is religion, in term of social and work ethics this two group are a world apart. You will never see a fully grown Yoruba disable or not begging. Yoruba will either go to school or learn a trade rather than sit idle and expect manner to fall from heaven. |
adamx23:Here we go again, trying so hard to tell yourself that everything is good with the north by playing down the problem at hand. Northwest has a literacy rate of less than 40% compared to south west of literacy rate of over 90%, to me that is day and night difference and can't be wished away. Female literacy is as low as 30% in the northwest compared to over 90% in the south-west, that is like comparing a war-torn country to striving one. Back to your argument, Hausas-Fulani is the biggest beggars in the history of Nigeri. They beg when they are strong and can work. It is literally a crime to see a grown-up man in south beg no matter the disability but in the north, it is a culture to beg. Even here in the north, most of the organized private sectors are dominated by the same people. The Yoruba always come out on top in any university with a substantial number them even here in the north. So, my friend, you can't wish away the north social problem by fabricating lies about others. |
Madas1986:There are so many things that Muslim practices that are not in the Quran my friend. Ulamas will use some hadith to justify this action since the prophet encourages the search for knowledge away from one's place of residence. |
adecz:This is a simplistic view, my brother. Almajeri issue is more of a class issue than ethnicity. The educated and rich core northerners seldom patronised this institution but the irresponsible poor are encouraged by the religious elite to keep breading and use the Almajiri medium to throw responsibility to the general populace. You will find poor Hausa, Fulani, other core northern minorities from the northeast children in almajiri, so, it not a matter of ethnicity but class |
yrex01:Keep fooling yourself! What is inside Quean that one can't know? The guy is spot on, I still regret spending a larger part of my formative years learning and cramming different illogical fallacies in a book written by a man that I will lecture on most of the subject topic he wrote about in that book called Quran. Nigeria will always be a third world backwater because her citizens(both Christians) are too preoccupied learning eastern tales and myth. |
