Hello everyone,
I hope we are all doing well.
I applied for my PR through spousal sponsorship in April 2020 and I am currently in Canada as I have a visitor's Visa.
Recently, I got a job offer in Canada with the condition of getting a work permit and I don't know if there is any way advice on how to go about it.
P.S my husband is a PR.

Thank you for your help.

Hunnn just relax application can be send to any visa application officer or country that is a little less overwhelmed with application, processing time is 28 weeks now that simply means they have received and still recovering a lot of application, honestly when I checked processing time today I just told myself that Canada can really help someone to develop the spirit of patience or help one to start praying for the gift if you don't have it already, because the wait can be worrisome and exhausting...but I know it will end in praise

Thank you so much...Yh a looooooot of patience.
We will celebrate soon smiley

Hello All,

My husband applied for my PR under spousal sponsorship since he has a PR. I was a bit surprised when i got an email that my file is being processed in China. Is anyone facing this too?

Mrtoke:

1. Yes, if you’re staying longer than 14 days
2. You can apply for the notes to know the status of your application
2. You don’t need to email them for exemption, just go to their airport with proofs that your husband is a permanent resident of Canada and a proof that you are married to him ( marriage cert etc)

Source: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/travel-restrictions-exemptions.html
Read the section with foreign nationals who are eligible to travel to Canada

Thank you so much for your replyim truly grateful

I have explained the email in my last response. Also, you will not get a response telling you that you are Eligible, you have to request a GCMS note for that. And you are not raising CSE at all as the department that evaluates your application to be considered essential is different from your visa officer as I was told by IRCC agent here in Canada.

Hello Opemipo2,
Congratulations again. Please I have some enquiries regarding my application. I have a visitors Visa to Canada and my husband has a PR. He has applied for my own PR plus spousal work permit but I have not gotten any response yet.
1. Is it possible for me to go to Canada next month to visit him
2. Will you advice he obtains my GCMS notes?
3. Is re-uniting with family member (husband) a good enough reason to write an exemption letter?

Thank you so very much for your reply and help

Thank you so much @iwinosajack. This is really helpful

iwinosajack:

If your passport & copr are sent to you in Canada, you would be required to book appointment at ircc office for landing. Alternatively, you can do flagpoling at the border if you cant wait for an appointment. Just go to any Canada/USA border, tell US immigration that you want to flagpole, they would put a flagpole stamp on ur passport & send you back to Canada, you don’t need a US visa for this.
If you applied from Nigeria, your ppr would most likely come via Ghana visa office. In that case, you would have to be in Nigeria.

Since you have a visitor visa, go to Canada and apply for a work permit when you get there. You will get it much faster that way.

@Culkid @Mysine
Submitting a work permit application inside Canada as a visitor does not make the process faster. As a visitor, you still have to use the form “ application for work permit made outside Canada “ the application would be sent to lagos for processing & if approved, you would be required to exit Canada to activate the work permit at the border. Basically, it’s the same process as applying from Nigeria

Ok, thank you so much. A quick question please:
if I get my PR whilst in Canada as a visitor, will I be required to still go out and activate it at the border? Will I also require a US Visa to do that ?

@Mysine
It’s better you wait for the approval of your pr application. Ircc rarely approves TRV applications (visitor’s visas, work permits) for spouses of Canadians or PR holders. I guess you got your visitor visa before you got married to a pr holder

Oh ok. Yes, I had my visitor visa before we got married.
Thank you so much.

Good morning house, please I have a question,
I got married in Nov 2019 and I have a visitor visa till May 2021. He has a PR and we submitted a PR application in April.
We just heard about the open work permit and we were wondering if it is possible to submit an open work permit pending the approval of the PR. I intend to join him fully in October.

Health / My Journey With Sickle Cell Disease SCD by Mysine: 3:47pm On Oct 17, 2018
We are starting with what I will describe as the ‘Story of my life’. This story will be told using three fictional names to represent three real people. The reason is just to make an interesting read. The setting is real. The people were/are real. And the story is true.

Jabez’s mother gave birth to her first daughter Ruth, in Jos, Plateau State of Nigeria. Jos acronym (Jesus Our Savior) was the first choice destination of European and American missionaries and other professionals because of the temperate climate of the Plateau. Jos is also the headquarters of Sudan Interior Mission in Nigeria (SIM). It also situates reputable secondary schools founded by missionaries such as Hillcrest School, Baptist High School of the Southern Baptist Convention USA, St Murumba College of the Roman Catholic Church and St John’s College of the Anglican Dominion. Presently, there are also many reputable schools founded and managed by Nigerian individuals and educationist.

Ruth was born at the General Hospital Jos. The hospital was government owned but has many expatriate doctors. It was at the hospital that it was discovered that Ruth has the SCD. All the parents noticed was that she cried at lot and had tender joints, which swells and are painful when touched. The parents called it ‘aromolegun’ in Yoruba dialect which means ‘arthritis’ but direct literal translation means ‘disease that makes the bones painful’. Ruth also has yellow eyeballs that neighbors will describe as ‘yellow fever’ and will prescribe different types of ‘agbo’ (local herbs), which, should be cooked, and Ruth should sit in front of the steaming pot covered with blankets. The vapor, it was believed will cure her of the fever and the pains. She was also made to drink capfuls of the ‘agbo’ three times daily after meals.

However, after laboratory tests at the General Hospital in Jos during one of the many admissions Ruth had at the hospital, the ‘oyinbo’ doctor told Jabez’s mother that Ruth was suffering from SCD. And that Ruth inherited the disease from the parents. The doctor requested that he wanted to meet Ruth’s parents.

When Ruth’s parents met the doctor, he explained that Ruth inherited SCD from the parents. Ruth’s father – Anthony protested. He was a healthy man and never got admitted into any hospital. The only illness he knew was malaria, which was treated by the dispenser at the Government Dispensary with bitter pills, called chloroquine. How then will the doctor say that Ruth inherited SCD from him and the mother? The doctor explained what genotype was and how it affects children born by parents who are carriers of the disease. He asked them to go to the lab and get tested. When the result came out, both parents were AS, AS.

Unknown to Ruth’s mother, the doctor had to a certain extent solved the issue of suspected promiscuity going on in Anthony’s mind. Tony as his friends referred him to had thought that Ruth was not his child. Though he has no reason to suspect his wife, he could not just come to terms with the fact that Ruth inherited a disease from him when he was a very healthy man. He did not accept this reality and this led to strains in his relationship with his wife that further led to complications that we will discuss very soon.

Concluding his advise to Ruth’s parents, the doctor advised them to limit the number of children they would have. This was to reduce the risk of having more children who will suffer from SCD. Observing the frown on Tony’s face, the doctor further said that it the decision to limit the number of their children will not affect their intimate relationship as they could avail themselves with the various family planning methods available at the hospital.

Unknowing to the doctor, he had touch a sore spot on Tony’s body. Shaking his head but with no words coming out of his mouth, Ruth’s father thought, ‘this white man must be mad’.

Provision of Nigerian Constitution

177. A person shall be qualified for election to the office of Governor of a State if (a) he is a citizen of Nigeria by birth;
(b) he has attained the age of thirty-five years;
(c) he is a member of a political party and is sponsored by that political party; and
(d) he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent.

The lawyers did not do their homework.
They admitted that he went to school. The constitution did not say PASSED School Certificate!!!

Religion

Some Gbayi believe in a god called Shekwoi. It was there before their ancestors. However, they also appease deities of the god such as Maigiro.

Indigenously, their main religion is Knunu, which they believe protects them from the evil that exist in the community. They worship the Knunu by offering fowl and beer as a sacrifice to a special tree found deep in the forest.

However, in modern day, Most Gbayi people are either muslim or christains.
