I wouldn’t mind tutoring under you for this roof design. My next build has something similar and I still can’t figure it out.

That project is in my prayer request. I’m tired of sharing 1847 builds grin grin

I’d be happy to show all the details including the structural and mechanical design details. The toughest part of the roof design is selection of materials. Glass won’t work but polycarbonate sheets.

Conflict is pretty much inevitable when we work with others.

When two people involved in a business transaction oversteps the mark of healthy difference of opinion, resolving conflict requires respect and patience - a clear sign of maturity.

As we grow, we must learn to control our emotions, perceptions, and actions whenever conflict arise. We must learn to deal with facts and avoid talking outside context as it allows conflict to build and fester, without being dealt with directly.

Lastly, it takes emotional maturity to prioritize the health of the relationship over the ego-feeding need to be right. cool

Many thanks to all the valuable contributors on this matter. Your difference makes a difference.

Together we can make Nigeria great again without unnecessary dramas, ban threat, assault... grin!

This your 0.35mm guage then is what is being dished out as 0.55mm now.
It was super-light back then too and people don’t use it.

Disclaimer: For anyone reading this, pls don’t go and be looking for 0.35mm o. It’s not as easy as portrayed o. Go for 0.45mm at least.

0.35mm that mean the installers did very good work
Although i don't supply such guage due to the thickness
Too light for me but lot of clients request for it
I just look away if you can't purchase 0.45mm is better you make use of slate i don't want wahala or maintenence
You deserve the award of the best roofer in Africa for this.

0.35guage without wrinkles can only be done by a professional installer.

I actually did it intentionally to prove that your installation is as good as the company/person installing it. The way some roofer mess up materials when installing gets me worried.

More roofing woodwork.

You’d hardly spot the difference in the wood spacing. It costs more wood but the extra cost is almost negligible on any project size.

Boss permission to post this on my roofing thread?
Sure. Let the clients understand that if you’re thinking of saving money, save elsewhere apart from foundation and roofing.

If you have closely packed woodwork and nail point is well spaced, you’ll have a roof that’ll last forever.

Pic 1 - My 10 year old maintenance free roof (pic taken 1 minute ago). It’d be shocking to hear that material is 0.35guage

When it comes to woodwork, you’d hardly notice the difference in spacing in my projects. The savings ain’t worth the problem you’d face later on.

Here are few woodwork done by me:

Pic 3 - 4: Stone Coated

Thanks...
Interestingly, the woodwork has been done... What do you think of this spacing? Can it take step-tiles?

Also, what's your experience with step-tiles...any better than metcoppo?

I'm wondering if it's midway between longspan and metcoppo in terms of aesthetics and leaking issues
I’ve used step tiles on many projects but metcoppo I really don’t like.

The woodwork in the picture you attached is fair for longspan roofing and not good enough for step tiles aluminum.

See the spacing of my woodwork below used for my longspan roofing 10 years ago.

So you're saying that for step-tile or metcoppo has to be closer?
Yes sir.

Flat Roof + Skylight over Atrium in an upcoming proposed development.

The contemporary flat roofs look very simple but costs more to build than traditional roof designs when done right.

I still hold my views as before, I now use Long span sheets in my own buildings these days, I also advice my clients to not use Metcoppo sheets, but if they must use it, I can buy and install it for them on one condition, that they will pay for repairs if there is a leakage later on. I lost a lot of time and money repairing Metcopo leaks in 2010 to 2015.
I thought longspan are used by those who are not rich like us grin

Yes sir this point still Valid but with the guage at which imported aluminium deal on now
I recommend 0.55mm thickness to 0.45mm due to the machine stepping
And for the roofing leakages bad installation cause most leakages
And in another angle if you installed metcopo or Steptiles on Longspan woodwrk
That building will leaks forever.. Unless you add more wood to that spacing
Yes to the bolded.

I wrote this few days ago.

n3xt:
My dad told me ”Learn to shut the door of relationship gently because you may need to use it later.”

I think we’re all guided by our moral compass.

“I’ll show him who I am.” “He’ll leave to regret ever knowing someone like me.” “You’ll rot in hell.” “I’ll collect my N10 change from that motor boy.” “I’ll snuggle life out of his business.”

Moral compass is an internalized set of values and objectives that guide a person with regard to ethical behavior and decision-making.

Shameful conduct coming from this client. Just as the thread caution against potentially fraudulent vendors, it's also important to stress the need to avoid problem clients like this. Considering the economic problems in the country, I'm not sure how realistic it is for vendors to turn down doing business with impatient, belligerent clients but I can't imagine the headache dealing with such people. Una de try.

The least the client can do is to retract and apologize.
It’s the most honorable thing to do.

Until something is done, nothing happens. This will continue to happen until something is done.

This isn’t over until the client retract and apologize.

According to Cribking1, Kobocity which I represent is complicit in this matter and we won’t take it lightly until the allegation of fraud leveled against mountmoriah is retracted and full apology is tendered.

We are not sleeping on this though.

Hi, house,
Please, what do you think about this plan/drawing? I need a suggestion because this small structure is supposed to look out for the main building whenever no one is around.

[Maybe because of the area is very small]
I notice the porch face back, which is another compound, is this okay? Can this serve the purpose?

Lastly, What do you think about the store entrance?(The store is only useful for the people in the main building)

pls comment and recommend

Thanks
Where’s the plan?

This was last year, about 6/7 months ago. I paid him 3.1m to supply roofing materials to my site. All I got from him was excuses. Hsl-broker never came back here to dispute my claims. I'm happy N3xt was able to step in and got everything sorted out for this client.

He blamed it on family situation. After he settled me, I even promised to help him get things right if he wants to do a legit business and could even engage him again in the future. I believe in second chances if one is remorseful.

How did I know mount moriah is hsl-broker? The name and GTBank account number the client posted gave it away.

If he has truly turned a new leaf, I encourage others to patronize him, now that there's someone like n3xt who is willing to step in whenever there's an issue. I'll feel comfortable doing business with someone from kobocity. The only thing nairaland did was to banned him after I posted the screenshot of the transactions/chats.
Thanks for sharing this with us and especially the bolded part.

When I asked him if he’s the same person as hsl-broker, there was a long pause then he told me “I’m not hsl-broker but hsl-broker taught me all I knew.”

Let me share this short story before I continue. In 2015 or thereabout, I paid some huge amount of money to someone (not here) to purchase a 2011 Venza. He sent me all the necessary docs on the car, I even nearly engage someone here to handle the clearing. In Barrister Mike’s voice “Ase pe everything is lori-iro” There was no vehicle in the vessel he told me and all he gave me were fake docs.

When I got to know about this issue, I got mad but my paddy don japaxit. He later called me and explained his situation to me. I told him “I understand there’s no way I could have given you that huge amount of money to help you solve your problem but I thank you that you hinted me not to proceed with the clearing of the vehicle. How you wan take pay me back?”

To cut the long story short, we are still good friends till date and he has served me so well in situation where I never believed I could get help.

To err is human, to forgive is divine. I posted something 2 days ago that a lot of people don’t like bringing issues like this to me because they knew I’ll always sue for peace - a win-win for both parties.

The best thing we can do for ourselves is to help each other become better as a result of our coming together on this platform and not to beat our chest that I’ve succeeded in pulling down another man.

I’ll do all I can to build a system that protects anyone who transact on my platform. As at the time I was tracking @mountmoriah, there were 4 other people about 1km near him doing the same.
My deep appreciation goes to the wonderful collaborators on the kobocity project. You’re such a wonderful ally. Our best is yet to come.

As for nairaland admin, mods and their leadership styles, I’d simply encourage them to have a heart to care. Everything no be money.

I would have preferred this all happened in kobocity not here in nairaland. He deserved the accolades.
Moving forward, I got this from the kobocity team on suppliers verification. What do you think about this move?

Yay or Nay?

The team suggested that verified suppliers must include an upload of bank verified and stamped BVN (except if the larger community objects to this) in the document submitted to us for verification.
The team also suggested that for transparency, we should require anyone verified to create a thread on kobocity and gives updates on all transactions gotten through the platform, while not revealing private information of clients.
