Mueeze: Good Morning House,
Kindly help critic this floor plans. It is a 4 bedroom duplex with the following
Ground Floor
Ante-Room Visitors Toilet Main Living Room Dining Area Guest Bedroom Ensuite Kitchen with Pantry/Store Laundry Home Office/Study
First Floor Living Room Box Room Masters Bedroom with Walk-in Closet 2nos Bedroom Nice plan. For me, I’d focus on the difficulty that comes to furniture placement in open spaces (eg door, stairwell opening, pre-site entrance). For my dining, I want to do at least 1m to the wall and 1.2m to the sideboard if available as it requires more space. Considering the number of openings closer to the dining, I’d extend the living area by 400mm to gain more walk space. _____ In an ideal setting, you’d require about 2m on the shorter side of the dining when 2 people are facing each other side. A 3 seater sofa will take about 2.7m. When you put all these together including the walk space in between furnitures, you’d see that you might require a little more space. This won’t be an issue for a young family but for a large family (with about 5 people or more), it might be an issue.

somehow: The 1983 overthrow cited the same, hope you know?
To me, our problems started from the first republic enroute the second republic.
The greatest undoing was changing from regional system of government to what we currently have.
It's a total rubbish.
All the high buildings you're talking about are products of regional system of government. I agree completely. |

Horlardorjah: perfect plan my observation is on the home office, why don't u have a access door from outside with a cantilever canopy or where the laundry is to serve as entry point for external.
having people come in through your main lounge, dining before the office is a no for me except it's not actually going to serve much official purpose. my thought though. nice one from the designer It’s more of work-from-home space so no need unless you’re trying to connect outdoor with indoor. ______ I’m drifting towards this direction in my ongoing studio construction. In my personal build, I do weird stuffs NextBox

somehow: Some of our country's problems started from 1979 (Shagari), not really 1983 except we want to be blind to what happened between 1979 and 1983. 1979 - 1983 are the symptoms but it’s normal teething issue in a developing world. It took SA decades to get it right. We were just trying to get along so conflicts are expected. Aren’t we living with it right now? What we’re witnessing now is 10x the reason the 2nd republic was truncated by the millitia boys. Remember, they cited charges of corruption and administrative incompetence as reasons for military intervention. The 1985 overthrow cited misuse of power, violations of human rights by key officers of the SMC, and the government's failure to deal with the country's deepening economic crisis as justifications for the takeover. That’s how everything started. |

kopell: Interesting, those that are born before 50’s to 60,s enjoyed more then those of 70’s to 80’s. Many of them went to free school home and abroad majority of their parents are farmers with little or know any form of education. These are the same set of people that hold us hostage, kill our education kill morals in our society, divided us with ethnic and religious. They are united in stealing our collective resources without division between them. They have succeeded in destroying the future of our youth by engaging them into social media world postings all kinds of fake life style and negativity Its a shame on us with kind of leader we choose for ourselves. We are paying the price of a truncated democratic process. A lot of thing were going right till militia boys started participating in politics and wearing overflowing agbada. The leaders who enjoyed the good times in the 50s and 60s and chose not to do the right thing are the symptoms and not the cause of Nigeria problems. The real cause is unprincipled politicians and abuse of democracy. God has given us real and selfless visionary leaders in the 70s and 80s but the military coup of 1983 truncated our young and developing democracy. Most of these visionary leaders were thrown into prison, incarcerated and thrown into exile. Our political landscape is now filled with theorists and selfish politicians. Ever since we lost our democracy in 1983, we’ve been finding “x” in Nigeria. Imagine all these beautiful projects were done with cocoa money, not oil money o. Leaders are made, not elected. |

Swichnerd: Some times I wonder why we lack maintenance culture in this country? Most of the buildings in dugbe are monuments, which are ment to be renovated. You people that were born in the 70's & 80's are the ones who enjoyed Nigeria. I wonder why that "aje house" is being abandoned. This is Baba Egunmogaji2 office (Cooperative Bank Plc) The buildings in Ibadan CBD are monumental masterpieces we ought to preserve.

spyder880: Very good design you got there, I think the flow is good, except for the staircase which is too open in my opinion. I had loved this contemporary flow, but I dont know if your client will love to have all his living room and open kitchen to the back.
You can also replace the car park in this plan with a bedroom, but some will want their living room exactly where the car park is.
Well done. Thanks for your valuable contribution. This is well received. In my clients brief, I could read and understand that he’d generally favor open plan living. I wasn’t really surprised when he asked for a semi-open kitchen. The briefs inclusion of a void section, skybridge, wall-to-wall multi-folding glass door reveals a lot about what might work for him. I love the arrangement of the plan you shared above. It’s almost similar to one of the Late Dr. Alex Ekwueme’s estate design in Osborne, Lagos. Thanks for sharing.

EgunMogaji2: I grew up down the street at Ekotedo Iya Olobe. Ekotedo - the cradle of modernization in Ibadan city. This is an irrefutable fact That’s where I had my first business, Nextsolution Technologies (Banuso Tower beside the late Nigerian flag designer, Pa Akinkumi’s house), in the 90s. In terms of urban and physical planning, I give it to the old Ibadan city center. The bullsh*ts in the city got started when they started relocating old Dugbe market to Aleshinloye (a process that’s yet to be completed even after 3 decades) and all those nonsensical developments. They just made a mess of the Central Business District. May God of creation guide our leaders right. |

Who as an idea on these. Stevo30: photographs from Ibadan CBD makes me nostalgic. We used to walk through this cenotaph on our way to the old cooperative bank HQ almost directly opposite the old kingsway building. The story of my childhood can't be completed without that kingsway store. So many memories, bata shops in and around the CBD, the old sketch building opposite first bank building You forgot Lennards (Bata’s rival). Then John Holt for the best Milk and Adonis stores. Chicken George - I think this came after Baba Egumogaji has left the country. If I visit IB I’m sure I’ll still have some of their vouchers Wow! Sketch opposite CBN. That place reminds me of the well planned parking space in the CBD. When I saw Heritage Mall, I just smile and wish those around me could understand why. |

Amastermovic: A water tank above a pent floor well it depends on what floor the pent is.. when pumping water there's this action that goes on with building which the user might passive (a form of vibration) this vibration effect detection is not same for everyone if person A does nt really feel comfortable with it person B may not feel this action at all so it depends on how sensitive your client is to vibration effect.. Though there r many damping options available to cushion this effect .. I hope you’d be kind enough to share with us the various vibration isolating options out there for learning purposes. Thank you sir |

Stevo30: @next you're actually crazy with idea. I really wish someone would convert bowers tower into something similar, a resort like hotel overlooking the city of ibadan. I go to bowers tower anytime i am in the city. I have done a couple drone shot of ibadan city from there. It's sad how we neglect such heritage. I grew up around Ibadan Central Business District and I always feel very bad when I see how much neglect the West African modernist architectures in that area suffers. A good example was the Aje House built in the 1950s. Here’s something cool a design team is doing on the renewal and redevelopment of the old and abandoned building. ______ The Ibadan Central Business District will beat Lagos Central Business District hands down in terms of planning and architectural designs. May God give Oyo state visionary governors. For those of us who knew Leventis, Kingsway, UTC in Ibadan in the early 80s, we always smile when we hear people talking about malls and shopping centers in Ibadan. _______ Pic 1-3 | The Remodel Pic 4 | The abandoned old building

Which would you choose and why?
I’ve done and showcase No. 4 here before. It’s cool but these days I’d favour trendy steel staircase over concrete staircase.
My heart goes with the simplicity of No. 1

kopell: That is exactly what I'm doing right now, the plan is imbedded from the foundation all the way to the penthouse roof with solid pillars that can carry 2,000 liters of water. The design is just like building a water tank with H beam all the way to the lint on of the penthouse where those tanks will be sitting. Dennis 3D DESIGIN is the architect behind the design, you can talk to him. @dennis3D it’s time to give back. I had a similar idea in mind for the BQ. I just don’t know how crazy my client would allow me to go I can do something with steel Baba Egunmogaji2, are you with me on the tank tower idea below? Thanks Baba Kopell for sharing with us.

EgunMogaji2: It sounds good but its a very bad idea in the long run. The tank will eventually overflow, piss all over the area and then stuff will start growing. It never fails. Yes I know their are tank pans that one can install but this is Nigeria.
If Madam Client wants new age she can always bury a tank inside a concrete pit under the car park and then pump the water out using a pressure pump. Mo ya look away. My client appreciates your comment and valuable contribution sir
