Men Of The Delta State Police Command have arrested three teenagers for staging the kidnapping of one of their friends and extorting N700,000 from his parents.

In a Statement released, the spokesperson of the command, SP Bright Edafe, said the boys, all 17 year old, were arrested after collecting the ransom.

The Statement Read;

“These three suspects are friends all 17 years old. They conspired and faked the kidnap of one of their friends in Agbor, called the parent of one of them, and demanded a ransom. They were arrested after collecting a ransom of N700,000.

Make our boys dey calm down o. Short cut to success leads to a short life. Imagine a 17-year-old who knows how to fake kidnap just to collect money from the parent.

The Sad part is that the parents will start running up and down for them to evade justice. Justice must be served.”

An Ekiti State High Court, Ado Ekiti Division, has sentenced a 28-year-old man, Ayodeji Alomoge, to death by hanging for killing a man having affairs with his wife.

Alomoge, who was tried on a count charge bordering on murder, according to the charge, had “on 21st of June, 2022 at Ikere Ekiti murdered one Ogunleye Ayomide, contrary to Section 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.”

Father of the deceased, Ige Ogunleye, in his statement to the police, said that he got a call that his son (the deceased) “has been beaten to pulp by Alomoge and his gang, I rushed down to the place, I met my son in the pool of his own blood with various degrees of injury on the head and mouth.

“I also met Alomoge being held by some people. I asked him the reason for his action, and he said Ayomide had been having affairs with my wife, and he had warned him to desist or else he would kill him.

“I took him (Ayomide) to a nearby hospital and later to the University Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, Kwara State, where he later died.”

The prosecutor, Kunle-Shina Adeyemo, called five witnesses and tendered the defendant’s statements, pictures of the deceased, and a medical report of the cause of death as exhibits.

The defendant spoke in his defence through his lawyer, Adeyinka Opaleke, who pleaded to the court to temper justice with mercy. He called no witnesses.

In the court judgment on Thursday, Justice Jubril Aladejana said, “It would appear to me that rivalry between men over the affection of a woman should not be a ground to justify provocation, except the situation is such that it is sudden and leading to a heating of passion.

“I consequently find the defendant guilty of the murder charge against him and therefore convicted as charged.”

The court pronounced that “Ayodeji Alomoge shall be hanged by his neck until he be dead.”

What Is Really Happening Inside Yenagoa ooo

A Young Man Named Moses Akanda was killed on Wednesday, March 20, at the Yenizue-Epie community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The Victim was said to have been shot dead amid a chaotic situation triggered by the presence of armed operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, who stormed the area to arrest one Rebecca, a suspected drug dealer.

Residents of the area said that men of the NDLEA allegedly shot indiscriminately to ward off possible resistance and this led to the death of Moses Akande.

The community youth leadership alleged that men of the NDLEA shot at some community members during the confusion and killed Akanda in the process.

President of Yenizue-Epie community youths, Martins Obiriwonsi, while insisting that the deceased “was not known to be a consumer of drugs or a cultist,” demanded justice for him.

However, the State Command of NDLEA claimed that its officers who went to apprehend Rebecca were attacked by those it described as “cult groups and youths of Yenizue-Epie Community.”

A Statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DNS Daniel Obah, on Thursday, March 21, read, “Yesterday 20th March 2024 at about 1900hrs, officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Bayelsa State Command, upon proper surveillance carried out and pre-purchase of cannabis sativa and crack cocaine made on the 15th of March, 2024, identified a notorious female drug dealer that goes by the name Rebecca at Yenizue-Epie.

“In the course of trying to effect her arrest, the officers were attacked by cult groups and youths of that community seized drug exhibits recovered and freed the said Rebecca. They were throwing bottles, stones and improvised explosive devices leading to an exchange of gunshots.

“However, the NDLEA officers were able to arrest one Abraham Aderin ‘m’ 14yrs who sparked the mob leaving the scene with several injuries to the office.

“The same cult groups and youths again in their numbers proceeded to attack the state command HQs, throwing bottles and improvised explosive devices, vandalising vehicles in the office, and dumping the lifeless body of a young man in front of the office.”

The State Commander of the NDLEA, Kanu Chukwuemeka, expressed sadness over the incident and condemned the youth for “aiding and abetting the commission of drug crimes, the bane of our insecurity problems, and obstructing the arrest of a suspect.”

The statement said the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, “pending investigation into the real cause of his death.”
