Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected cultist identified as Peter Falola, for allegedly assaulting a residence in the Agbado area of the state and vandalizing properties worth over. N1.3 million.

The Suspect, popularly known as ‘Black Jesus’ reportedly stormed the home of one Oladipupo Adeniran and threatened to burn the house to the ground.

Confirming the incident in a statement made available to DAILY POST, the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola on Tuesday said the suspect struck Adeniran on the head with a broken bottle.

Odutola noted that while neighbors rushed the victim to the hospital for medical treatment, ‘Black Jesus’ allegedly set the victims apartment on fire causing damages estimated at over N1.4 million

She said, “He invaded the suspect’s home, making violent threats. He allegedly stabbed the suspect multiple times after smashing a bottle on his head in a fit of anger.

“Falola also allegedly set the victim’s clothes ablaze, destroying items valued at over N1.4 million, including a 6kg gas cylinder, a ceiling fan, an Itel Android phone, a set of chairs, and eight aluminium windows. The sitting room and bedroom ceilings were also reduced to ruins.

“Following the report filed at Agbado Police Station on January 20, 2025, officers swiftly arrested the suspect. Investigators have visited the crime scene,” she added.

Odutola noted that investigation is ongoing and the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Abeokuta for thorough investigation.

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Emmanuel Kostad and Ayomide Damilare, for allegedly stealing items valued at ₦800,000 in the Sagamu area of the state.

PUNCH Online gathered that the suspects were apprehended on 24 January 2025 after a man, Kolawole Oke, reported the theft of several items from his site, including a block-moulding machine, two metal tables, a rammer, and nine pressers, all worth ₦800,000.

Confirming the arrest on Sunday, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said the first suspect confessed that the second suspect had sold the stolen items to him.

“At about 1:00 pm, one Kolawole Oke, male, came to the station and reported that his block-moulding machine, two metal tables, a rammer, and nine pressers valued at eight hundred thousand naira only were stolen from his site,” she said.

“Upon discreet investigation, the moulding machine, two metal tables, and one rammer were recovered from one Emmanuel Kostad, male, who confessed that he bought the items from one Ayomide Damilare, a 21-Year-Old male,” she added.

She further disclosed that the case would be charged to court on Monday following further investigations.

In a separate incident, residents of the Iyana-Iyasi community in the Ota area of the state apprehended an armed robber attempting to rob a woman. They handed him over to the authorities after recovering a locally made pistol and a Tecno phone from him.

“At about 6:30 am, one Tunde Adebanjo was apprehended by members of the community while he was robbing one Mrs Babalola Rachel,” Odutola stated.

“Upon arrest, the suspect was found with a locally made cut-to-size pistol and a Tecno phone. Investigations confirmed that the recovered Tecno phone belonged to the victim,” she added.

Odutola revealed that the suspect confessed to being a robber during questioning. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further action.

The Anambra State Police Command has recovered the body of an unidentified young man who was allegedly shot and killed by suspected armed men. The incident occurred in the early hours of January 23, 2025, along the Onitsha/Owerri Express Road.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives from the Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters responded to a distress call and discovered the lifeless body of the victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach. Eyewitness reports suggest that the assailants abandoned the body and fled the scene.

The police have deposited the body at a morgue and are calling on members of the public to assist in identifying the victim and providing any information that could aid the investigation.

SP Ikenga assured that further updates would be provided as investigations continue. The command also urged citizens to report suspicious activities and cooperate with law enforcement to enhance public safety.
