Was just about to send you a message, when I saw this. It appears there is progress on your app and they are reviewing if you are eligible for the program you applying for, I guess.
Bro, this Canada visa process is “tormenting” mentally. You need to see how I check every minute. The status change occurred this afternoon. We shall testify.

I think my status has changed. I noticed my review of eligibility has started.

Can the gurus tell me what this means? Review of eligibility has started but background checks still ongoing at the same time?

Everything is programmed, even Gcms notes we are paying heavy money for hoping to glean some personalized decisions for our denial, are all programmed and generic. The foreigner is in trouble.
It’s so sad bro.

Hmmmm this is the response I got from them.

We write in reply to your enquiry.

As indicated on our website, the processing times provided are based on how long it took to process 80% of all applications during that time period and are subject to change. As these processing times refer to 80% of applications, some applications will fall outside of these timeframes. In addition, as they are an average, there will be some fluctuations in processing times at peak periods during the course of the year.

That being said, please be assured that your application has been received and is currently in active process and we are making every effort to complete processing as expeditiously as possible. As soon as processing is completed we will contact you.

If you are no longer interested in visiting Canada, please inform our office in writing that you wish to withdraw your application. As processing of your application has already commenced, a processing fee refund would not be applicable

Art you for real? That’s about 2 weeks (counting from the day of biometrics).

It won’t happen. She is applying in Nigeria and automatically comes under the Nigerian jurisdictional rule as per average processing time. If she is applying in the UK, even as a resident chances are likely than not that she will not even be eligible for the one week. Nigerians applying abroad even as residents have been complaining lately of not been accorded the same processing time as native citizens of those countries they are applying in.
This is Very very correct. This man here knows what he is saying.

@HiSignature, I applied in Uk and my aplication would be 3 weeks on Tuesday (31/07/18). I still checked about 5 minutes ago, they are still doing background checks (P.S: I even submitted disclosure with my application).

The processing time of 1week as stated on their site does not apply to Nigerians.

A three years degree obtained from the UK is equivalent to Canadian degrees. I have a 2:1 from a British University and i gained admission for MBA to VIU and Thompson Rivers University.
You are not far from the truth boss but let us be careful. The United Kingdom is large.

UK degrees are of different types. There is normal degree (which could be a top up degree without dissertation) and there is honours degree (includes dissertation).

Scottish universities offer you honours degree in 4 years (with dissertation) but you have the option of leaving at year 3 with just a normal degree. Some schools in England offer top up degrees to students with HND from Nigeria, these degrees may not get you masters in Canada because they are not honours.

Once it is a UK honours degree (wether 3 or 4 years) you will get your masters admission with a 2:1 in Canada.

Normal degree = no dissertation
Honours degree = dissertation

Only a UK honours degree is equivalent to Canada’s 4 years degree. My opinion.

Hey bro,

I presume your Undergraduate program in the UK lasted for 3yr with 180ECTS ?

You said Masters admissions have closed by the time you made up your mind, but have you seen anyone be it from the UK or other EU countries that gained admission in Canada with the 3yr degree certificate ?

Many Canadian Universities required 4yr degree program or its equivalent to be considered for Masters admission. Do you know if the European 3yr degree equivalents to what required by the Canadian Universities?

Regards
Hello bro, it depends on the school, program and city in Uk. My UG was for 4 years.

I don’t know anyone who has a UK degree with 2:1 and has gone for masters in Canada but I am very positive that you will get a masters with a Uk degree.

My transcript came out in May and certificate in July (if I had gotten all this earlier, I would have gone for masters). My initial plan was to do masters in Uk for September. But then it dawned on me, after masters in UK, what next?

I changed plan in July (PGC was my only option as at then). I decided I could use one stone to kill 2 birds. I need to show money in my account for 28days to renew my Uk visa, I can as well use that same statement for Canada since it is 1 week processing time (although it’s been more than 1 week now). The feedback I get from Canada determines if I renew my visa for Uk or not.

My uk visa expires end of August, so I still got time. I strongly believe my Canada visa will be out before then and I can pack my things and run away.

When i get to Canada, I will do masters in May (once I complete my PGC) and I will use my UK degree to apply.

The whole process will cost me extra money (the PGC and then masters) but it is better been in Canada with opportunity to stay back than been told to leave UK after my masters.

I have invested £36,000 just on fees for UG in UK and then i spend another 9k for masters and still be told to leave without opportunity to stay back?

Cool. PGD/PGC?.

You have an undergrad degree from Jand?

Mine is Network and Security Architecture. PGC
Yes undergrad in Jand and PGC in Canada.

I had a 2:1 but I still opted for PGC cause masters admission for fall already closed by the time I made up my mind to try Canada.

Are you in Newcastle for visit? if no then you should contact CIC to know how far with your app cos it has exceeded the normal time, but if you are on visit then the processing timeframe will that of Nigeria(and it's not advisable to apply from outside your country if you are not a legal resident of the other country). Best of luck
Boss, i have contacted them already (via emails and the web form), no time to waste.

You need to calm down with your sarcastic reply. The joke is on you. Read my response to the gurus above.

Just so you know, you need to submit a photocopy of your BRP (to show you have a legal resident status in UK) as one of the documents.

One of the reasons why I decide to stay in ghost mode is cos of people like you. God bless you mate.

If you don’t have citizenship, student or resident status in the UK, you have to come back to Nigeria and apply. As one sacrificial lamb proved last year, if you apply without these, you would be rejected based on status in country of application.
Boss, i have a student status in the UK. Infact, like I said above in one of my posts, Canada was a last minute decision and the only reason I tried it was because I noticed processing time in Uk was 1 week.

I have the option of renewing my student status next month for masters here in UK.

I must specially thank you and Mcobex for your contributions on this thread as it has been really helpful.

Good day,

Please did you pay all the tuition?
The requirement to get the LOA is you must pay at least first term fees. The total fees for 1 year (2 terms) was 16,000 Canadian dollars.

Bro let me advice, I think there are cheaper colleges in Canada. I chose Fanshawe college because it was a last minute decision to try Canada instead of doing my masters in UK. I never planned for Canada. The only school that still had admission (to the best of my knowledge) as at July for fall was Fanshawe college. I accepted it sharply.

Since you are applying for winter, you can try other cheaper schools.

Ermm, Did you apply as a Nigerian currently in the UK? or as a citizen of the UK. I don't think location of application/applicant determines the duration. Just to be sure things are not mixed.

All the best mate!
Where are you applying from ....United Kingdom. I am not a citizen but I think location matters. Do you know medicals is not needed cos I am applying in UK? Why is that if location is not important?

I could be wrong but I think location matters.

I just sent you a pm, kindly send the list of the agents to me. I hope they don't charge much.

What course are you going for?
Bro I cannot send the list to you (so I am not accused of being an agent). Please contact the school directly so they can send the list to you. I am so sorry, I mean no offence. Course: logistics and supply chain management.

If you need help in any other area, I will definitely help you.

Fanshawe admission is so fast. You will be shocked I got admission July 3 (I applied for admission a week before via the school agent). I submitted my application to VFS London office July 10. I did my visa application myself based on tips I got from Nairaland.

Wassup with Canada office though? It says 1 week processing time from the Uk for study permit but tomorrow makes it 2 weeks since I submitted (paper application) and still no response from them and my application status has not changed.

I hail each and every guru in here. I'm new and have been trying to apply for PGC Construction Project Management in Fanshawe College for Jan 2019 intake. Age 29, HND Civil Engineering, graduated 2014, NYSC was 2015.

I keep getting referred to apply through agent . Pls those who have successfully applied to Fanshawe, how did you go about it? I just hope it's not too late.
To the best of my knowledge, you cannot apply for admission at Fanshawe college without using any of their Nigerian agents. I would be resuming in September at the college and the school gave me a list of all the agents that works for them, please contact them to give you the lis ( I have the list but it may be against the rules here to post it).

All the agency will do is to get admission for you and you will apply for visa YOURSELF (Do not pay agent to help you with your visa process. All the information you need is here on Nairaland). That’s what i did.

Finally, Fanshawe college has one of the fastest admission process (infact you will get admission within 5 days). For January admission, you are even too early but it is better you get the admission NOW so you can take your time to process your visa which could take about 3 months.

God be with you bro and I hope to see you in Canada.
