Please I received several private messages, I am sorry if I have not responded. Truth is, I am very busy at the moment. I will appreciate if questions are asked here so that others on the forum can benefit. It is easier to answer questions here. God bless us all. |
slimberry16:Ok I will. |
sarmamotors:You submitted January 27th, be patient bro. |
sarmamotors:So you are expecting a refusal mail? |
samoji84:(1) Applying for PGC or PGD depends on you. If you get 2 years visa, when you get to Canada, you don't have to worry about renewing your study permit again. If you get a 1 year visa from Nigeria, you may need to renew your study permit if you choose to do another program, which means showing account statement and all that stuff you did while applying for the first visa (another round of stress). (2) Remember that the same document it takes to get 1 year visa from Nigeria, is the same document you need in getting 2 years visa. (3) 2 years PGD or 2 PGC programs will give you 3 years Post graduate work permit (PGWP) while 1 year PGC will give you 1 year work permit. Will you get job on completion of a 1 year PGC? A big yes if you studied a good course, you are willing to move or travel to any of the provinces in Canada and ready to submit at least 60 resumes. If you think getting visa is hard work, trust me, getting a job could turn out to be harder. You might be lucky to get a job with just 1 resume but just prepare your mind for the extreme. Now here lies the problem with 1 year PGWP. - You must get a job fast on completion of your program. - The job has to be any of the NOC jobs. - You are stuck with that company for 1 year. Nothing must happen to that job or else.... - You must pass IELTS or CELPIP within that limited time frame and then apply for your PR. Let me also add, there are other things involved in all of this. Age, experience also plays a role. If you are in your early twenties, you probably don't need as much overall band score in IELTS compared to someone in his/her early thirties that needs good scores. Some students with money for just 1 program also select schools in provinces where it is easy to get PR via provincial nomination. There are other factors but I will stop here. More than half of the people that finished my first program with me, applied for 1 year PGWP because they could not afford it and it is very possible they have a PLAN B which I am not aware of. For me, even though I have a brother that is PR and I could get points from him, I applied for a second program for 3 reasons. (1) I switched to another field (2) I can afford the second program (3) I like my peace of mind. 3 years PGWP will give me the opportunity to explore. What should I tell you to do? Pray and take the decision you think is the best for you. All opinions are personal and information passed across is to the best of my knowledge. You should please do further research to guide you. I wish you all the best |
JosephYemsol:If yo can get masters admission, that will be fine. I think you should with your result. Otherwise, you can try post graduate courses in colleges. On schools to choose, I cant recommend because it depends on the province you want to stay (take into consideration weather, job availability and size of city). |
JosephYemsol:The most important thing is what degree are you going for? If you have a Bsc and then decide to spend another $10,000 on diploma or another Bsc, the visa officer will assume you are not a genuine student. It is always better to go for a degree higher than your previous one. It is not just a Canada thing, same thing applies in UK. If you decide to go for same or lower degree, you will need to give a good and convincing reason why you want to toe that path. In some exceptional cases, some applicants have been able to convince the visa officer by applying for same or lower degree and got their permits. When you see visa officers write "taking the applicant's plan of study into account, the applicant does not appear to be sufficiently well established that the proposed study will be a reasonable expense". It is most likely they are not convinced the student is genuine, no career progression or they feel it is a waste of money spending such huge funds on the program. This is where the applicant needs to write a good LOE to justify why they chose the program. cc plantainboy1 There are 3 major areas you need to convince the visa officer as a Canadian study permit applicant (1) You are a genuine student - Career progression comes in. (2) You have the funds to take care of yourself and comfortable pay your fees. (3) Home ties to your country |
whytey:There are lots of samples online. Just a quick guide. Why did you choose the course and school? What skills or experience makes you an excellent fit for the course? What are your short and long term goals and how does the course help in achieving these goals? Maximum of 1 page or 500 words. |
ishowleck:Hello sir, I have attached a link below. You can start there. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/apply.html |
Yomiyo:The bolded, you want to get a job as a student to take care of your family back home? Also, make sure you confirm and you are 100% sure Toronto School of Management offer PGWP eligible programs to avoid stories that touch. That is the link below to confirm schools in Canada that offer PGWP eligible programs. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/designated-learning-institutions-list.html#wb-auto-25 |
samoji84:The bolded, do you have your visa already? |
cdaniel:If your documents are straightforward and you are a first time applicant, you may not need a LOE. The same SOP used during admission will be enough. If you are reapplying for visa, you can decide to submit your initial SOP and a separate Letter (LOE) addressing concerns raised by the Visa officer. This means you will submit 2 documents. Alternatively, you can decide to submit just 1 letter by expanding on the initial SOP to address issues raised by the visa officer. This means you will submit just 1 document. Personally, I recommend an expanded SOP (just 1 document) with subtopics addressing visa officer concerns and not more than 3 pages. I prefer 2 pages though. |
Asapant:I just responded. |
Asapant:Bro, please resend. I did not get your PM. |
samoji84:PGWP is only issued once, you can’t apply for it twice. So if you apply for PGWP on the completion of your first program, you are not getting another one. The best thing to do is complete both programs at a go or you are allowed to complete the first one, take 4 months break, do the second program and then apply for PGWP. If you do two PGC programs or 1 PGD ( 2 years duration), you will get 3 years work permit. |
Asapant:That’s fine. Please send me a PM and I will give you my whatssap number. All the best bro. |
chybabie:LOE = Letter of explanation It is a letter you use in addressing some concerns or grey areas In your application. People that got delayed use the letter when reapplying in addressing concerns raised by the VO in the GCMS notes. |
Asapant:Asapant, I remember you well. This week is reading week and I have exams next week. If you can wait till next weekend, I am willing to help out. Are you coming to fanshawe college? All the best bro. |
Richnnach:Your previous course and next course of study shows career progression. Perfect! Let your dad transfer your living expenses (could be $10,0000 0r $11,000) plus balance of your fees into a separate account not business or company account and write it clearly in his sponsorship letter what he has done (transferring funds) and why. The why should focus on you coming back to work in his school (establishing home ties). In a nutshell, submit the listed documents below. (1) Your fathers company account (2) Dad's savings account showing your LE and balance of fees. Please make sure your father explains the source of this huge money. (3) Receipt showing you have paid $6000 to school (4) Your LOE has to be well written and make sure someone proofs read. (5) Other documents you listed previously |
Miide2:Yes that's perfect, I did same thing in 2018. My mum told them in her LOE she is committing such huge funds for my studies in Canada because she wants me to come back home, apply what I have learnt and head the business. If your dad has properties, you can attach documents to show proofs Also, your LOE and that of your sponsor should be well spaced, well written and interesting to read. |
Richnnach:You have missed out an important information. What was your previous course of study at HND level and what program are you going for in Connestoga? What was your role in your former company and what are you doing at the moment? Also I did not see in your list any property owned by your dad or you. My suggestion You have a very good sponsor, Family sponsorship is always the best. If you are thorough with your next application, you should be saying hi to your family from Kitchener by summer. Your father also has a business that can serve as home ties for you. Unfortunately, you did not mention the program you were offered in Connestoga. I wanted to see the possibility of linking it to your family business. Also, work on your SOP. Did you get anyone to check and proof read your SOP? Did your father write an LOE on your behalf? This is very important. |
tba11:I live just about 7 minutes from Fanshawe so if you need any help, contact me. Fanshawe will give you free airport pick up, 2 free nights in a hotel, so try and make use of that in settling down. Make sure you arrive in London, ON and see the house before making any payments. Pictures online don't tell the full story. Finally, when you are free, please contribute to this forum by listing the documents you submitted and what you think might help other applicants. God bless you. |
Deejah20:Study gap is and will not be a problem if you can clearly state what you have been doing over the years. I cannot say if midwifery is related to health science, I think you will need to carry out your research. Try and check the modules for health science on schools website and compare with your current midwifery program. Also, once you are done with your midwifery program in 2021, is going for Bsc in health science a career progression? Does the job market in Canada favor health scientists? What do health scientists do once they are done from school? How many years is the program? Once you are done with heath science, do you plan on going back to nursing? I ended up giving you more questions than answers because I want you to think about it thoroughly and do a lot of research which will help you in making an informed decision. P.s I am getting a vibe that you are not happy with the course health science, I will suggest you think twice and make sure you go for something you really love and worth the resources that will be commited. |
Richnnach:When you list out the bolded, help will come. |
Lanrelala:Don't think of reapplying ASAP, but think of getting your applications perfect You are up against thousands of other applications. Trust me, Canada is not running away. I have some questions (1) The account your brother submitted, is it his personal or business account? (2) Did you attach your brothers LOE? Did he say why he is sponsoring you? (3) You don't bear same surname, so how did you convince the visa officer your sponsor is your brother? affidavit? family tree? |
Bruan:Yes you can change institutions. Tips; (1) When you get your visa, notify CIC of institution change via the online portal. (2) Don't do number 1 above until you are in Canada to avoid stories at POE. |
vibrant99: As a deep researcher that you claim to be, you should know that you don't bring up such figures as above, in a public forum as facts, without proofs. I don't want to derail this thread, so this is my last response on this issue. I wish you all the best. |
vibrant99:I do not know the exact date, she told me 1 year. The date is irrelevant. Some students get 8 months plus extra 3 months on their visa. I know a student that had 8 months (duration of program) plus extra 6 months at POE. In my case at the POE, I got 9 months (8 months of my program plus extra 1 month to leave Canada upon expiry. I had to renew my visa in Canada. Upon renewal, they gave me another 1 year plus extra 4 months. Study permit exact duration varies. |
vibrant99:Not passport. PGC is 8 months plus extra few months that they add to your study permit. |
Obehi44:God bless you for the bolded. When I applied in 2018, the advise I got on this forum were from people who have never been to Canada. Also, that you are in Canada or have been granted study visa does not make you a guru in Canada visa. As far as I am concerned, no one is a guru when it comes to USA and Canada visa's. I am even tempted to say that people who were delayed, took time to study notes, followed and observed patterns and have been on this forum for so long know more than me who is in Canada when it comes to study permits. I applied only once and got my visa. I may never know as much as the individual who applied thrice and learnt from it. Who can apply for study permit in Canada? No one has the right to discourage anyone from applying to study in Canada. The best we can do is guide applicants on how to convince the Visa officer, make them avoid common errors and the rest is on God. CIC has not been consistent in how they grant visas to applicants, most especially Nigerians. Also, there are too many gaps in the list of documents on CIC website for study permit applications that is subject to different interpretations. I also think Canada allows their visa officers to apply discretion at will when it comes to study permit applications from Africa. I know at least 3 Nigerians in Fanshawe that are in their late forties, been away from school for so long (over 10 years) and still got visa's. The recent one I saw was a woman almost 50 and she was given 1 year visa for a PGC course in Fanshawe college. How on earth do you explain that? If you have the money, the right documents and want to study in Canada, apply. |
Oganammuo:Send through webform. |
cuteesthy:Any originals you submit will not be returned. You should only submit originals of IMM forms, LOE, and other documents you don't want back. Your academic credentials should be photocopies. I think CIC does not like documents being stapled. The VFS officials will help you arrange your documents in the right order. |
