Henkubert:Oh my God ... these people are something else. Almost 7 months? Good news is they requested for your Medicals. Possibility of getting your visa is about 80%. Hold on bro, you will forget the wait when you get the visa. |
JustMellow:I am Guessing you wanted to write 8 months? Your program must be at least 8 months in duration to even apply for PGWP. |
CuteCeo:Magic. Apply right where you are. Apply early. |
Awuuga:Normally PGWP is given for the length of program. So if your program is 16 months you get 16 months but if 2 years, you get 3 years. However, it also depends on how the school runs their program. Some schools see the 16 months program as 2 years. If the school at the end of your program gives you a letter to confirm that the 16 months program is equivalent to a 2 year program when applying for your PGWP, you will get 3 years PGWP. Please confirm with your school. |
Nuel182:I am currently with a study permit in a college myself, so I never said college limits chances of visa approval. I was only wondering why the 18 year old does not want to go for undergraduate studies. If the college accepts the 18 year old student for PGD. Then congrats. |
cc Strongtech You will get a 3 year post graduation work permit (PGWP) so far the school is an eligible DLI (not all DLI make you eligible). After getting 3 years PGWP, You qualify to apply for PR if you have worked for at least 1 year in a skilled occupation. So here you go; Get offered admission in an eligible DLI - school for at least 2 years (masters, PGD) without any issue or criminal record - get 3 years PGWP - work for 1 year in a skilled occupation - apply for PR |
nija4us:An 18 or 19 year old has good chances but he or she should get admitted first. That’s the first and most important step. Why not UG? |
Ologunsunny:. What do you mean by sponsor yourself? If you are speaking of feeding and accommodation, the 20 hours for students should be more than enough (my school here in London even gives bus pass so all i have to worry about is just feeding and housing). |
CuteCeo:Yes you can provided you have a resident permit to work/ study / any other thing (not visiitor visa). I applied for my visa from the UK. |
Amahjosh:Sorry this response is coming late. Visa is not guaranteed for anyone. Some people have gotten visas for PGC (1 year program) on this forum. However, I would suggest if you cannot get admission for masters degree of at least 18 months, please go for a 2 year PGD so you can easily get a 3 year work permit once you are done. I am currently on a 1 year study permit that ends September 1, 2019. The challenge is I need to renew my study permit next year before this current one ends by either going for another 1 year PGC (what most Indians and Nigerians do here based on my findings) or do at least another 1 year masters so that I can qualify for the 3 year work permit. I heard work permit is given only once. Imagine if I was using a third party sponsor? I would have to start begging the sponsor to please send me money for fees next year to renew study permit. It is better you get that 2 years visa once and for all from Nigeria so you don’t have anything to worry about again when you get here. |
Take off and Landing gist (long post alert) Bureau de change I tried getting PTA from Diamond bank via Form A but I was told I cannot get it except I had a return ticket. I then decided on changing Naira on the day of travel at the airport to US dollars surprisingly all the BDC at the Muritala Muhammed Airport (MMA) had no USA dollars on 5/12/18. I went to all BDC in both the departure and arrival wing and none of them had US dollars. I mean none of them. I then decided to change Naira to Canadian dollars and still most of them still struggled to give me. I had to get Canadian dollars from 6 BDC (4 BDC at the departure wing and 2 BDC at the arrival wing). Rate: 1 Canadian dollar = 295 Naira. I suggest if you are traveling later this month or in January, try and get US dollars or Canadian dollars early. P.s A Nairalander adviced I could have transferred money to my GtB dollar account and then made the transfer to my Canadian account when I arrive. Airline I took Egypt airline from Lagos Muritala Mohammed International Airport. Lagos - Cairo and Cairo - Toronto. Lagos - Cairo plane was totally shiitty (my opinion) as 3 rows had to share one screen. Meal was just there. At the Cairo airport, I could not pay for anything with my Canadian dollar. Unfortunately, I was not with my credit card. They only accept card or Cash payment in $,€ or £ (Canadian dollar is not accepted) Gracefuily for me, during my stop over at Cairo, I met a Nigerian at the airport coming from turkey on her way to Nigeria who paid for my dinner and we watched the ManU - Arsenal match together. Flight from Cairo - Toronto was better as each seat had their own screen. However, the movies they had on their entertainment section were old movies and so few. If you have ever used Emirates, Etihad, KLM, trust me, you will struggle with Egypt. If you are a first time traveler, you will be fine. I had issues cos Cairo - Toronto was about 12 hours and normally I would have used movies to keep myself busy. Their meals were okay. We were served thrice on Cairo - Toronto flight. I used Egypt airline cos they had the cheapest rate for the day I wanted to travel. Immigration Passed first security and the guy asked who I was and what I came to do. I explained and he allowed me pass. Second security (the main immigration officers) the lady asked me which school and if I had paid my fees. Surprisingly Fanshawe did not indicate it on my LOA that I had paid my first term fees. Immigration lady said are you sure you have paid, I said YES. She said show me on your LOA and I started looking for it and could not find it myself (the LOA was an updated LOA from the school. The first one they gave me for September had that information but this new one did not have it). After searching and I could not find it, I asked if I could show her on my phone, she said YES (she sounded like she had all the time in the world she kept saying take your time, there is no rush) I had to quickly show her my receipt on my phone (Connected to airport WiFi). She still was not done. Then she asked, do you know anyone in Canada and I said No. do you have family members in Canada, I said No. She asked again are you sure? I said YES. Then she asked do you know any Omolola E.A and I was like yes that’s my sisters name . Then she asked for her DOB and I told her She then said your sister lives in Canada . I looked in shock and then laughed and said nah, my sister lives in UK with her family. There is no way she would have moved to Canada without me knowing. She asked the possibility of someone else bearing my sisters name and I explained boldly, my sister lives in UK with her family. After about 10 minutes of looking at her screen, she gave me my work permit that will last till just 1 month after my program ends. She said the 1 month will be enough for me to pack my load and leave I looked at her and smiled. Then I moved to another section to get my SIN immediately. Then took the Robert Q bus from Toronto at 74 Canadian dollars to London. For me, this was way too expensive for a 2hr 15 min journey without WiFi for that matter. Let me quickly say thank you to this Nairalander Bsbabe with a good heart who reached out to me after I posted on a thread living in Canada/ life as a Canadian immigrant that I was looking for accommodation. She offered to allow me Stay in an apartment she rented for almost a month, unfortunately the Landlord refused for insurance reasons. God bless you ma. She connected me to TheCongo2 who has been my helper here in London. TheCongo2 took me from the Robert Q bus park to my hotel. He actually offered to pick me up from Toronto airport to London but I got his mail late (God bless you sir). He has been taking me around town and helping out with looking for accommodation and introducing me to people. He bought food for me also helped in moving me out of my hotel. Funny thing is, he is from Congo and has shown me so much love. God bless you sir that’s all I can say for now. Bsbabe took time out of her busy schedule and helped me in getting my sim on Saturday and bought me Lunch (Nairalanders are Sweet people). P.S Be careful of people you insult on Nairaland, you never know who they are in real life and when They might be of help to you. Also, if you are coming to Canada for the first time and don’t know anyone, go to that thread (life in Canada and post you need help, someone in your province might just reach out). First 2 nights, school paid for hotel accommodation. I had to pay for extra 2 days. Church As I was not able to get house as at yesterday (09/12/18), i went to a redeem church and spoke with the workers and pastor of how I am new in town and was in need of urgent accommodation . Pastor called someone and the person offered me 1 week free accommodation till I get my own. The Congo2 took me from my hotel today to the greyhound station and from there would move to the mans house later today. For all those still expecting their visas, receive grace for divine answers to your request. God bless you all. I am out. |
@lonelydude sent you a PM, please respond ASAP. Cheers. |
Hello all, so I arrived Toronto just now, passed border, immigration, collected SIN and waiting for RobertQ bus to take me to London. And a wonderful Nairalander offered (infact 2 people) to take me from the bus park in London to the hotel provided for me by my school for 2 nights. I will give full details of everything when I settle in my hotel later today. God bless nairalanders, the show of love is out of this world. Infact someone even offered to drive all the way from London to Toronto to come pick me from the airport to my hotel. God bless Nairaland, God bless seun. Thank you once again to all those who have contributed on this thread, God bless you all. |
Bsbabe:Responding right away, thanks. |
I greet all the gurus in the house. Please I urgently need help. Is there anyone here who stays in Ontario London or attending Fanshawe college? I will be arriving Toronto on Thursday and from there move to London but still trying to sort out accommodation. Any ideas on good and affordable accommodation? |
lonelydude:Please is that London, Ontario? If yes, i will be in Ontario on Thursday by Gods grace and I also need accommodation. I think we should link up? |
Omoarukheo:Your approval is on the way. Start thanking God In advance. Make sure you thank God everyday till you get your passport request. You will testify, shalom. |
Lekwachijj so happy to hear your testimony, thank God it turned out in praise. All those things wey you promise Baba God while waiting on him, hope you don do am no forget o To everyone expecting a feedback, worry and complaints solves nothing but rather channel that same energy into prayers. To those that were delayed please refire, keep the hope alive and pray more. To those about to apply, note that you need extreme patience when it comes to Canada application and of cos lots of prayers. All the best everyone. |
LekwachiJJ:Bro this is serious. My own passport was held for 5 weeks after submitting at the embassy. Please I hope you have started firing serious prayers? Every power holding my visa die by fire, every failure at the edge of breakthrough die by fire (P.S I am not an MFM member but a closed mouth is a closed destiny) Tell immediate family members to start praying and fasting on your behalf no jokes (I prayed my heart out). Some people may say it is nothing to worry about but take no chances. This is the time to Pray and fast sharply. You will testify and your testimony Will be perfected in Jesus name (amen). Modified By the way, why would you consider withdrawing your application after getting PPR And submitting passport? My Brother worry does not solve anything but prayers. Pack your bag and go and spend 1 week in any prayer house praying and fasting. |
Tosan28:I think this has been answered by 123abcclown above. Good luck bro. |
Oh my God, I just read Goingforward's testimony I am shocked a mistake can be made even after Passport has been requested, only God knows what would have been going through your mind after telling people on here and some few friends. Congrats. God is forever faithful. Congrats also 123abcclown. Please anyone going to Toronto from Lagos 1st week in December? Let's hook up. I am going to Fanshawe college (Ontario, London campus), if there is anyone here who attends Fanshawe and has accommodation to rent out, Abeg I need am. Please send DM. Thank you. Also anyone traveling to Toronto 1st week in December from Lagos, we can link up via DM. Thanks. |
Frankrobbn1:Thanks boss |
Frankrobbn1:My oga, i greet you. Please is it possible for one to change course in the same college after getting visa? Would the school contact the Embassy if one tries to do this? |
jnyuwa02:Also very possible. |
Austacus:You may be correct. There is a guy here called wheyme who was refused initially and applied almost immediately (like the following week) and got his approval for his second application within 4 days. In wheyme’s case one can easily conclude it must have been the same VO who handled the first application that handled the second one again. There is no way a new VO would have approved his application in 4 days. |

Snillous:He submitted September via paper route. |
Snillous:Bro there is the possibility you might still get it though program dates are close by. A friend applied for same Canada visit visa and wiyhin 2 weeks he was denied. Thank God your own application shows they are working on it. |
Linzo:easy bro, easy. |
vibrant99:lol... why are you preaching this message now? why did you go to VFS yourself? you went for tourism ![]() How about we all go to Canada, UK, Germany, USA and then we come back and make Nigeria work? |
Austacus:Yes many people are willing to help but people need to also put in work. Some people don't even want to research about schools, don't want to read, who will do all of that for them? I mean you should be the one to search for schools you want to attend yourself. Canada student visa has to be the most demanding process I have ever experienced in my life. The admission takes work, application even takes greater work and waiting for your visa to be stamped takes another work on your patience. If you are not prepared for it, then don't try atall. I also heard studying in Canada is very demanding, so lets get used to it before we travel to Canada. For all those just coming on here, I think you should read part 14 (1-30). Then to make life easy, Search for 5 people who shared their success stories and take a note of all the documents they submitted and also look for another 5 people that got delayed and learn from them. In that way, you will get an idea of all you need and what you don't need. In addition, search for these monikers jnyuwa02 and frankrobbn1, click on their name and then click on view jnyuwa02 posts (I recommend searching for post between June and August), trust me, you will get all the information you need about anything canada. There is no question you are asking now that these guys have not answered previously. This makes your ressearch easy. Good luck. |
