lilgan:These are the tips I will give you. I will suggest you do a thorough research about the school. What is the population of the school, what is the total number of international students in the school, how easy is it to get part time jobs in that city, are they flexible with tuition payments? I will be honest with you, some places in Canada are dead zones (so isolated). As much as we are in Canada to learn, meeting people, going out, having fun is a very important aspect of education. The city you decide to study in Canada is very important for your mental health. I wish you all the best. |
Meagainstenemy:You can use agents for admissions into Fanshawe and then do the visa processing yourself. All the best bro. |
AlFath:I don't even know what to say. You received a BVL without medical and not a refusal mail. Lets stay strong till the end. God knows best. |
Meagainstenemy:There is no refund once visa is delayed except your agent agrees to that. The sad part is, prices vary from one agent to the other and Fanshawe is doing nothing about it. My suggestion, if you see any college with same program that allows you take full control of the admission process without the use of an agent, you should consider that. P.s Fanshawe is a very good school. I just don't like the fact that students must go through an agent to secure admission. Agents will ask you for application (usually about $100), registration, administrative and other fees. |
AlFath:Amen and you too. |
mcobex:Really? Mudicua No vex Abeg. |
Mudicua:Bro longest time. Good to have you back. |
Phatkayconcept:You can contact a Nairalander called Wheyme. He is in Ottawa Uni. |
wildchild1:I responded to your post and his separately, so why do you feel troubled and attacked? Maybe because I combined the posts while responding. What is ITK? ![]() I apologize if you feel attacked by my post. Do have a good night rest. |
wildchild1:Fanshawe has so many approved agents in Nigeria Meagainstenemy:. Fanshawe will return your money for application once you get your visa. Make sure you get the list of agents directly from the school. Do not respond to any one that sends you a mail saying they are an agent from Fanshawe College. There are many colleges in Ontario that don't use agents, with flexible payment options for tuition. You can try those colleges as well. All the best. |
Anon123:I completely agree. |
peaceful22:lol, you will be shocked that many things that happen in Nigeria also happen in Canada? I accompanied a friend to the emergency centre of London ON Victoria hospital last year October. When we arrived at the hospital around 8pm, my friend registered at the Nurses triage station almost immediatley but we had to wait till 5am before a Doctor could attend to her. Who would have imagined that a wait time of almost 9 hours in an emergency clinic, in a city with less than 500,000 people, was possible in Canada? P.s It is not a one off situation, many people say it is the norm in that hospital. |
Raalsalghul:I got your question yesterday but could not respond because of Nairaland Anitispam BOT. Yes after Living expenses. |
Mudicua:Bro, I think your question has been answered. Good to hear from you. The cold is something else at the moment. I am trying hard to break my coffee addiction but this cold wont let local man be great. I can't even imagine what people in those places (bolded) will be going through. |
Anon123:You are doing a fantastic job here and your answers to questions asked has been spot on, God bless you. To the bolded, it is not always the case. I had a 4.4 CGPA and I attended college in Canada. I also have many Nigerian friends with 2.1 that finished in Canadian colleges. A 2.1 can choose college for so many reasons. Although it is always advised on here that if you have 2.1, masters should be your first option, this does not mean if you opt for college, your visa will be denied. The major thing for a visa officer is career progression. On the completion of your UG, once you are going for postgraduate studies, whether college or University, and can prove you are a genuine student with good LOE, financial statement and so forth, you will get your visa. |
Next2Bezee:Yes apply for fall admission Now. For visa processing times, please check the link blow https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html |
Next2Bezee:You have no problem. Sponsor is your mum which is very good. Show proofs of how she supported you in Malaysia all through your studies and emphasize how you were well behaved as an international student. Make sure you mention how you obeyed the laws of Malaysia Immigration as an international student, attended all classes and graduated with good grades (if you graduated with good grades, attach transcript). Also mention how you returned to Nigeria on the completion of your studies in Malaysia (I am assuming you are in Nigeria at the moment). Changing programs is not a big deal once the reason is convincing. "To take over a business requires more than understanding numbers, cash flow and how to balance accounts but also how to manage and lead people. You strongly believe your Masters program in Educational Leadership in Canada (mention the school) will positively position you towards taking over the family business". Make sure you mention one or two modules of the program, explain its importance to you in taking over your family business and the skills you will gain on completion of the program and how it will be applied now and in the future. Make sure your LOE is convincing, easy to read and free of errors. Also, you are part of the school management, do you have proofs? If you do, mention it in your LOE and attach proofs. Your home tie is not just your job. Coming back to take over the family business is a strong home tie as well. Make sure you declare your previous USA refusal while filling the CIC form. I wish you all the best. |
Godsfavor112:You can use your uncle's personal account if it has a good cash flow over the past 4 - 6 months plus the required amount by CIC. However, if your uncles personal SOA does not have a good cash flow, you should submit his personal SOA alongside his business SOA. You can also attach CAC documents showing he is the sole signatory to the account. |
tosiiNO:Yes but depends on your grade. You stand a chance with a very very good grade. Also, a good reference letter from your lecturers in your college also plays a role. Some of the lecturers in your college may also be lecturers in the university you are interested in or alumni of that school. |
Adetayoade1:Yes sir! Once you change school, you just notify CIC via your online account. Adetayoade1:I know nothing about the school but I want to assume schools in Canada that offer PGWP eligible programs are good. |
YomiAfo:Do you have work experience? There is really no point doing another Bsc except you have the money. Try colleges for PGD or universities for a Post baccalaureate Diploma (PBD) program. On the completion of your PBD, you can go ahead and do your masters. Yes a non relative can sponsor you but you need to give good reasons why such an individual wants to commit huge funds towards your studies. |
Nkechi48:Canada PR! Canada PR! Canada PR! |
Raalsalghul:Normally 1 year PGC is 8 months but some colleges have PGC with either a compulsory or optional 4 months Co-op. I shared a link of such in that post. This means 8 months plus 4 months Co-op. Then once you are done with your program that has Co-op, you can take additional 4 months break before starting your next program. I shared the link in my previous post showing that it is allowed by CIC to take up to 150 days to work full time on the completion of your 1 year PGC. 4 months Co-op plus 4 months additional break on the completion of your program before the start of the new one, makes it 8 months. P.s Also, while doing your Co-op which is normally Monday through Friday, you are still permitted to work 20 hours (standard normal student hours). Your Co-op work permit is different and separate form the work permit attached to your study permit. It means while doing your Co-op you are allowed to do up to 60 hours of work if you have the strength. |
TheAfroBlog:3.7 is not weak, stop sounding defeated. The key to getting masters admission in Canada is applying about 10-12 months in advance. Apply early before it gets very competitive. Yes, you can get masters admission if you can take the time to research and apply to as many schools as possible on time. |
IboBoyNuel:(1) All your sponsor needs is tuition plus living expenses for 1 year (2) The answer to this is a tricky one. CIC have not been consistent in how they grant visas most especially to applicants from Nigeria. If your Sponsor has your living expenses $10,000 in his account (I am assuming you are not going to Quebec) and has had a very good cash flow for at least 4 months backed by documents to show that his business is viable and he has good investments such as properties and so forth, then that will be more than enough. If he does not have a good cash flow, make sure he has the whole cash (tuition plus living expenses) in his account plus documents to show the source of funds or what he does for a living, documents for properties, letter of employment or CAC documents if he is a business owner and so forth. Of course, if he can show all of the money (tuition plus living expenses in his account, nothing stops him from doing that. The answer to your number two question depends on so many factors. (3) It is not compulsory but highly recommended if the sponsor is a third party. If he is not a close family member, let him transfer your living expenses to your account and let that money stay in your account for some few weeks before you apply. This is my opinion. (4) The transfer of funds from a sponsor ( most especially people that are not your parents) to your account shows that the sponsor is committed and has demonstrated this by transferring your living expenses to your account. P.S It is easier to believe parents to commit such huge amount than it is to believe a third party without any form of commitment There is nothing to worry about the transfer being a lump sum. Explain in a tabular form, the amount in your account before and after the transfer and where the money came from and the purpose of the money. Also, your sponsor should clearly indicate in his sponsorship letter how much he has in his account, how much of the money in his account he is committing to your studies, how much he has transferred to you for living expenses and why he wants to sponsor you. Again, this is very important. Why will someone who is not your parent spend over $20,000 on your education? This is part of trying to know if you are a genuine student. Ask as many questions as possible. You are not derailing the thread. |
The issue of finance cc Laurendee If you eventually decide to go to college and need a 3 year PGWP, then there is a way you can earn money legally and pay for your second program. "So that we are clear, a quick recap. You have money for 1 year PGC and completing a 1 year PGC will only give you 1 year PGWP but you need a 3 year PGWP which means you will need to do two programs". There is a PGC Co-op in LSCM offered by Fanshawe college, link attached. https://www.fanshawec.ca/programs/scm2-supply-chain-management-logistics-co-op/next Please note, Fanshawe College don't joke with money, make sure you have money for your 1 year complete. Co-op allows you to get paid while working full time. The link I shared above, you will have 8 months of classes and 4 months of co-op (please confirm from school/ admissions team). Once you are done with your program, you can take 4 months break to work full time and save towards your second program. By law, you are allowed to take 150 days break on the completion of your first program before starting the next program. Most students in colleges do two 1 year PGC programs so nothing to be worried about There is no way you will work for eight months full time, delay gratification (no fancy phones, Gucci cloths or expensive accommodation), stay focused and not save at least $12,000 (this has been confirmed by many students) which will be close enough to pay for your second program. What I suggested is a long route but legally allowed. For most students who don't have money for the second program of college, that is a way around it. I have attached the link below for the 150 days break rule. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/study-permits/campus-work.html |
Laurendee:University of Windsor offers it under Masters of Management with an option to specialize in - HRM - International finance - LSCM http://www.uwindsor.ca/graduate-studies/333/management Your CGPA is good enough for masters and by all means, search for universities that can give you funding or discounts. The normal thing suggested here is if you have a CGPA that can get you into masters, that should be your first choice. |
oyinlove15:There is no right or wrong answer but my advise will be based on how I handled mine. If your parents have a good cash flow for minimum of 4 months, you don’t need to hold the money (Living expenses) in your account for months as well. All you need to do is submit your parents SOA and yours clearly indicating in your LOE that your living expenses have been transferred by your parents to your account. Proofs of what they do, properties they have, proof of relationship and so forth. When I did mine, my parents transferred the money into my account and within a week I applied. My mum already had a very good cash flow for years in her account. I only needed to show what she does for a living and properties she had. Also when I renewed my study permit in Canada, because the money came from Nigeria through a third party (an agent), I allowed the money stay in my account for 3 weeks before applying. All the best. P.s Carefully make sure you go through your application this time around and don’t be in a rush to reapply. Your parents sponsoring you is a good one. You will get your visa this time! |
oyinlove15:Who is your sponsor? Your parents, close family member or a third party? |
Frankrobbn1:Happy new year bro, good to have you back. |
Laurendee:Most universities don’t have the co-op option. If you have the CGPA that can get you into a masters in LSCM then you should consider that first. University of Windsor fees for 16 months in MSC LSCM equals what you will spend in 2 years of college for PGD LSCM. Let me ask you a question, do you or your sponsor have the money at the moment to pay for 2 years in college or you only have money for 1 year? |
Laurendee:Are you sure it is 12 months duration? It says 1 year program on school website does not mean it is 12 months, you need to confirm from the school if it is 2 or 3 semesters. I think it is most likely going to be an eight months program. The poster you quoted usually recommends Connestoga on this thread probably because he is an alumni of the college. I think you should search for 3 - 5 schools, compare and then choose the school that you prefer. I will also suggest, if you decide to go for Logistics and Supply Chain Management, choose a school that offers the program with co-op. Is 1 year PGWP enough time to look for job and process PR? It depends on so many factors which has been discussed some weeks back on this thread.
