Owoch:Yes you can change it even while in Nigeria but make sure when changing school From Nigeria, you change to the same program. The reason for this is at the POE, you may be asked why you changed school. If you changed school and it is to a different program, you might have problems justifying the change of program but if it is the same program, the Immigration officer will understand that you could not wait till September and you had to Change school. Please note, immediately you get a new offer from another school, you must notify CIC immediately via your online portal. All the best. |
nicerichard05:Yes but he can transfer that money to your account. All you need to do is allow that money be in your account for 28 days plus the period of your visa application (usually about 15- 30 working days). Lets not derail this thread, you can seek more info on the UK student visa thread. |
Nigerians love UK because (1) Same time except during winter when it changes for 1 hour. I am losing valuable relationships in Nigeria already because of the time difference. To comment on nairaland and respond to whatssap messages has become trouble for me. In Canada, they even have evening classes (2) You can travel to Nigeria from the UK without much planning and cost of travel is cheap. I was looking at return tickets from Toronto to Nigeria and I am seeing ridiculous prices. Those ones in Manitoba, newfoundland and co, na die dem dey. (3) Cheap Nigerian food and UK is second home to Nigerians. You will see Nigerians everywhere you go in UK. If you are in some cities in Canada, you go know say na you and God alone. (4) Weather, Weather, Weather ... (5) Nigerian foods in UK are cheap. (6) Ease of visa application (6) Oh and the Almighty pounds. If you have ever earned in pounds, you will miss UK. Infact, Canadian dollars feels like naira to me. I was a big boy in UK but Canada don humble me ![]() I suggested UK for people who have gotten delays and those with second class and third class. The route we take does not matter, so far they get to Canada. For now, Canada is still the best and easiest to get PR for International students. Don't dull my people. Make I go sleep abeg. |

No wonder you will keep hearing write a good SOP, write a good LOE and the rest. So Na stylish marketing for their services dem Dey do for here. You will hardly see any advice without write an SOP. @austacus you been Dey talk am o ![]() |

I am very happy you brought this up and you mentioned names. I trust justwise to do the needful. These applicants asked for review not to write SOP for them. What is wrong is wrong and I condemn charging applicants on this site in strong terms. For all applicants, if anyone charges you or you have been asked to pay for anything on this forum, please mention their names and show proofs and let justwise do the rest. If you want to charge people on this forum then do an advert and let the owner of nairaland Seun Osewa also have his cut. You can’t be making money off this site without paying the owner. Place an advert on Nairaland for your services if it is business you want to be doing here. What you guys are codedly doing is taking advantage of applicants who are vulnerable. |
Chukwuemekatehi:This is so sad. If anyone asks you for money on this forum, please report it. Of course, there are so many agents here. obaxlove:I also think applicants should ask questions on the forum and stop sending PM's. We built this community by helping each other. If anyone asks for money, please don't keep quiet about it, report to justwise with evidence ASAP. |
nicerichard05:Yes they cannot except they have changed the rules. |
I had to repost Bracha's critique of Someone's SOP to serve as a guide for all applicants. If you follow that format by Bracha in your own words, then you are good to go. Do not pay anyone to help you with SOP |
waynee2baba:You too much boss. |
SOPWriter:Thanks boss. |

UK or Canada? Here is my take. (1) There is no point sticking with Canada if they are trying to waste your time. It takes about 3-6 months to get a masters degree admission in Canada. In UK, it takes 5 working days to max of 1 month. (2) In the UK, with a 2.2, you will get admission for masters and yes even with a third class, you will get masters admission in UK. In some UK schools, if you have HND, you can do a top up to BSC and then go for masters afterwards. Instead of waiting to get admission for almost 4 months in Canada and then wait another 4 months for visa which is not guaranteed, you can beat all of that by getting admission to a UK school, get your visa within 15-30 working days or even make it faster by applying for priority or same day processing. UK student visa is straight forward and the easiest I have seen. The only thing with UK student visa is you need to use your own account or parents account (or a combination of both). There is also an option of using a legal guardians account but I doubt if that can work in Nigeria as we don’t document these things. Do a Tuberculosis test and go for an interview. Trust me, the interview is easy. However, I must say all students should always have the big picture in mind which is how can I get a PR. After 2 years post study, what next? It is not that easy to get companies that will sponsor you but you can make it easy for yourself by getting a good result (most Nigerians get very good results in Canada and UK), get a job and apply for PR from the UK to Canada or if you are lucky to get a company that will sponsor you in UK, work for 5 years with the company and get your PR. Please when going for masters in UK, don’t waste money going for regular courses, go for courses where you can easily find jobs (do your research). Why am I saying all this, time is money. If Canada is wasting your time, try UK since they now have post study and you can apply for PR to Canada from UK once you have worked for 1 year. Also, most if not all schools in UK give admission for free (they don’t collect charges for application) and most masters in UK are 1 year or max of 16 months. Please may I add, every information I have provided about UK admission and visa processing is based on my personal experience and visa knowledge while living in the UK for almost 5 years. Some processes might have changed. It is up to applicants to check the UK home office and schools website for current information on these processes. I must also say that for all students, even if you move to UK, please try Canada PR while in the UK because there is uncertainty with the outcome of UK’s Brexit and this night likely affect UK economy in the long run. But for now, take advantage of this opportunity. Shalom. |
waynee2baba:wow really? how many years post study? If UK can give at least 2 years post study visa, Nigerians will go back to UK because they have fast processing visa times and UK student visa is at least 90% guaranteed once you have all documents complete. 2 years post study visa confirmed. |
@Bracha, Congrats and welcome to Canada. Wait, Canada is cold at the moment? Cold wey still Dey warm up, Wait till December/ January and your cold will be very very long |
Zzzz1234:(1) you studied abroad, therefore your parents are more than capable to finance your studies in Canada - show proofs. (2) On completion of your studies in Turkey, you came back to Nigeria to do your NYSC, this shows that you are planning for your future in Nigeria and always willing to come back after studies - show proof of NYSC certificate (3) What is short term plan? Long term plan of owning a business in Nigeria? Write it in your LOE that the courses you will take in your PGC will shape or prepare you for your long term goal. Make sure you are specific, mention 1 or 2 modules from your program and how it will help your long term goal and the job opportunities in the Nigerian market for your program. Remember to be specific. (3) Stress how you studied in Turkey without missing classes or breaking any of the rules. Therefore you understand the responsibilities of an international student bla bla bla (4) stress the importance of having 2 degrees from different countries and the advantage it will give you in the Nigerian economy. (5) Show documents of properties owned by your parents I am typing form my phone so I can’t go further. Just make sure you structure your LOE very well, proof read for errors and have someone look at the LOE for you. You will most likely not have issues with your SOA, so focus on writing a good LOE on your part and fathers part. I suggest you give Bracha, Makano, Mcobex, Austacus or Frank your LOE for them to have a look through. Disturb them very well until they have a look. Once you have all your documents ready, you can post on this forum for everyone to have a second look before submission. All the best |
chiwelaw I did mine last year and I was offered admission within a week but there are many factors. - If you apply early, you will get your admission fast. 2-3 weeks tops. - If you apply to a very competitive program like project management, IT related programs, logistics and so forth, you might experience delays. - When the program you are interested in no longer has available spots, you will be placed on a waitlist. This means you will only get an offer if any of the other applicants offered admission refuses to meet the condition, which is usually payment of 2300 Cad within 30 days. - If you apply when the International office is very busy, getting admission will be delayed. For example, next week school resumes. They will be busy with orientation, registration, admission deferrals and cancelations, tuition refunds and so forth. |
Austacus:You get woman wey dey cook for you How long will I stay for? Just few hours. I will arrive Ottawa on Tuesday morning, do everything I need at the embassy and return to London the same day via greyhound. I have heard so many good things about the embassy in Ottawa. Few weeks back, I called and I was impressed with how the lady calmly answered all my questions. There is no way I am leaving Ottawa without branching a naija restaurant to get better Amala wey fit make person sweat. |
jessyeve:at the bolded, exactly ![]() |
eh God, Nigerians get money o. I am just here thinking, what if there was no Nairaland? Agents go dey build house for Banana Island o Even with the free information and free help on Nairaland, most applicants still don't have the confidence to read up and do the process themselves. There is just this fear Nigerians have when it comes to visa processing. Life is funny, graduates paying ridiculous amount of money to agents (mostly non graduates), to help them with application and visa processing for post graduate studies in Canada ![]() This life ehn ... |
Austacus:Austacus, longest time. I dey come Ottawa, Nigerian Embassy, God willing on Tuesday, if you are free, we fit hook up. I go need where I fit chop better amala, gbegiri and ewedu soup ![]() |
niskill:I just replied your PM |
holart92:You are wasting your time not taking steps. You have 15 days to respond to your issue. (1) Have you even confirmed if the agent actually used fake statements? That CIC suspects an account is fake does not actually mean it is fake, reason they gave you 15 days to respond. Tell the agent to tell you the truth so you can know steps to take. Time is ticking... There could still be a way out. Even if the agent confirms the statement is fake, write a letter to CIC telling them your truth. Don't just sit down and assume it is the end, fight. Explain your truth and everything that transpired between you and the agent. You may be surprised you will not get a ban but rather a refusal. Modified Tell the agent to give you a copy of the Zenith bank statement he submitted, take it to zenith bank and confirm directly from the bank if it is fake or not. Don't just take the agents word for it. |
niskill:Interesting. When I applied last year via an agent, they charged me 25k naira for registration+ 100Cad for application. Good news is, when you get your visa and resume your program, your application fee (100 Cad) will be returned to your school account.. I think Fanshawe mandating all applicants from Nigeria to use agents for admissions is sad as these agents may be overcharging applicants. It is well. |
niskill:As per bolded, was this after you paid the 100Cad for your application? |
Vesment:London welcomes you. Your friend spoke to me about you yesterday night. Passport return has been unpredictable. It could take anytime from 5 - 15 days and even longer in some cases. I remember last year, mine took 5 weeks. School resumes next week. Send a copy of your passport request mail to Fanshawe and plead with them to give you 2-3 weeks extension. Although they will likely suggest you defer if by next week you still do not have your stamped passport, but just plead with them. |
Harpaa:The most important thing is to pay the 2300Cad deposit and then apply for your visa. However, if you have the full 8000Cad, you can pay all. |
waynee2baba:Ok bro, I am sure it will be out soon. God will perfect it. |
waynee2baba:How far Wayne, your application should be almost 5 weeks now. Any updates? |
Ayoola03:Fanshawe driving school, cool. A very good one with the house, I wish I saw this last year ![]() |
