I made application for visa. The embassy gave me 24hours deadline to provide all the secondary documents.

However, I don't have most of these documents in place. Morealso, they sent me mail today being Sunday. Before I get all the documents, the 24hours would have lapsed by tomorrow morning.

Now the agent handling my application is threatening me that if I don't provide the secondary documents, they will place a visa ban on me.

This is why I am confused.

I want to know whether they can actually place visa ban on me for not providing documents or they will just not proceed with my application.

Your response will be appreciated.
They will place a visa ban on you because you did not provide the documents they asked for? Lol...

I stand to be corrected on this but the embassy can never ask you to provide documents in 24 hours. At least, they will give you 7 days.

This is to all applicants, please stay sharp this period. Most especially January - April. Most people have spent all their money in December and will look for ways to recoup money spent. Don’t let any agent use you to recover all the money they used in doing detty December. Avoid agents by all means necessary

Good day house, I have been quietly following this thread, I have an agent that is working on my application, I haven't met him personally but spoke on phone and WhatsApp because it is my uncle and dad that is handling the processing for me, I just forwarded my credentials and all to them....fast forward to September 3rd, I did my biometric capture and all in Lagos VFS,,,since then,I haven't heard anything from them,I have seen some people's update here and some did biometric in October and have gotten feedback, I have called the man severely for info to no avail. My question is, is this normal or is the man hiding things from us. Is it possible to have done biometric since September and not gotten feedback up till now..house pls kindly enlighten me on what to do..thanks
Yes it is possible.

There is nothing you can do at the moment than to wait and be prayerful since you don’t have control of the process.

If he bleeps up, your dad and uncle will handle him. Don’t bug him, be patient. All the best.

Hello am in this category but I was denied UK visa twice last year, though I have travel history I want to study In Canada I need a school for bachelors degree
You were denied by Uk twice, was it Tier 4 or visit visa?

There are many schools for bachelors degree in Canada. All you need to do is determine the province you prefer to study, search for schools that offer your program, check admission requirements and apply. Then also read up on CIC requirements for UG visa application to know documents you need.

All the best.

Gbamsolutely, you nailed it. Its better to take a pay cut and move to the same country with ur family. It's the sacrifice we do for family if truly the person values his family more than his job. Funny enough, some wives are the one advising the husband to stay put in Naija and be wiring the money to them abroad that they need the money to secure their future and that of their kids. What a selfish mentality from the spouse in my own opinion. What is the essence of life if you cant spend that quality life with ur loved ones and be physically present in their life.
“”It’s the sacrifice we do for family if truly the person values his family more than his job”

I enjoyed the conversation between you guys. However, it is wrong to assume that just because the hubby is in Nigeria earning cool cash while wife is in Canada with kids means the hubby does not value family. What we see on the outside is the huge pay and we easily conclude that is why they are apart or the hubby values money or job more than the family. So wrong!
We don’t have information on other factors that made such families take that decision. Let’s be slow to judge and understand that our personal opinion on family values, as good as it is, does not make it the rule.

It will surprise you that some families are better off living apart. This is a discussion for another day.

In all, every family should do what works for them. Our opinion of what life/ family should be varies and should be respected. Shalom.

Hello house, I have been a silent reader and I have been following the thread diligently. Please I just applied and got admission, to study diploma in business admin in Toronto. I am a 30 year old man, married with a kid. My highest qualification is SSCE which I wrote in 2008. I couldn't further because I lost my single parent mother in 2009 when I got admission to the university, I had to dropout and grow up fast to take care of my two siblings. Now the both of them are graduates and doing well. I want to return back to school but not in Nigeria. I have applied to several schools abroad for Bsc, but couldn't get admission because of my age and space between when I finished high school. I was very grateful I got this opportunity. Now I am at a crossroad on how to start my visa application. I will be my own sponsor, I have a SOA of about 6.2m, I own a my business which was registered this year. I have no travel history, please gurus what are my chances and how do I proceed from here. God bless
The only thing I will advise is for you to tell your TRUTH with a letter of explanation to the visa officer.

The good thing is you are using your own SOA so you can also apply for UK UG admission and process the visa for both Canada and UK.

I was 27 years when I went for undergraduate studies in UK with NO travel history (fresh passport) and from UK moved to Canada. No one can tell you about your chances but you will never know until you try.

I wish you all the best.

I am in full support of everything Mroyato told you. However, I must add that I personally beleive anyone can get visas be it for college or masters degree from Nigeria.

I will recommend two universities for your program.
First, University of Newfoundland. A Nairalander with a lower CGPA is doing his masters in a related program in Newfoundland.

Second, contact lecturers of University of Alberta and indicate you are interested in going for a taught or course based masters in your program of choice.

If you don’t get masters admission into any of those schools, don’t waste more money trying other schools. Just apply for post graduate diploma in a college or university.

Na so the matter be almost everywhere.

Well, on how to meet people, church, schools, Tim Horton, pubs or restaurants, dating apps. The society here seems to favor meeting people virtually than physically.

Forget all that sexual harassment fear... mostly exaggerated. Once you don’t over step boundaries and not rolling with underage girls or those junkies, you cannot be accused of sexually harassing anyone.

Go to pubs, yes white pubs, speak to random people start up conversations with people and don’t be scared of hearing ladies tell you NO. Trust me, most of them are bored as well but you have to be bold to know where, how and the right moment to approach them.

Also, another mistake people make here is trying to meet only Nigerians. We spent over 20 years of our lives with Nigerians why come to Canada and meet only Nigerians again? Meet Indians, Canadians, Jamaicans and this is only possible by going to where these people hang out.

I don't know why applicants think visa officers will easily believe that a company will invest that much on a fresh employee.

@porchy Is the company a multinational? Do they have history of spending that much on employees and you can show proofs? Why will they spend over 10,000Cad on you and not someone else? Too many questions

Honestly, for you to justify why a company will invest that much on a recent employee with little to no experience, you will need a very good LOE. It is not impossible but it is very challenging.

As Frank suggested, just use SOA of a family member.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Naijaforeigner: 10:25am On Dec 05, 2019
I will add some things quickly...

- Also, you are allowed to take 4 months break on the completion of your first program (PGC) before going for a second program. During this break, you can work full time. On completion of your first 1 year PGC degree, if you don't get a full time job, you can decide to go for a second program.

- It is what your school writes on your program completion letter that most times determine the length of your PGWP. There is a school in Canada (name withheld) that allow students complete their degree in 1 year instead of the 16 months duration for the program. However, the school writes 16 months on students completion letter when they graduate and students end up getting 3 years PGWP.

- People go for second programs not just for 3 years PGWP but to switch careers. I know someone who had his first PGC in International business and then second program in Insurance. He presently works with a big insurance company in Ontario. The choice of going for a second program was strategic and an opportunity to switch.

All that similar career progression stress applicants from Nigeria are made to pass through does not really apply when you are renewing your study permit in Canada.

- The downside of having a 1 year visa is if you decide to go for a second program, you will need to apply for study permit again while in Canada. Do you really want to go through that stress again? for those using third party sponsors, will your sponsor be available to give you their SOA the second time?

If you know you need 3 years PGWP, just get your 2 years visa for a PGD from Nigeria straight up.

- Having a 3 years PGWP does not place you under any pressure to apply for jobs immediately school is over. A friend of mine who applied for his PGWP in September is in India at the moment for 3 months break. He will come back to Canada almost same time his PGWP will be approved and then start job hunting.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Naijaforeigner:
canadaman18:
An 8month PGWP is typically not a lot of time if considering PR subsequently .

)
I wrote this some days ago ...I have reposted below but removed some information which I felt was unnecessary.

If you can get visa for 1 year PGC from Nigeria in a program of your choice, there is really no need going for a second program. You can get a NOC job once you are done with your one year PGC which qualifies you for PR.

Once you are done with your one year program, you wait for your program completion letter (usually 2 weeks after program end date) and then apply for PGWP. Once you have applied for PGWP you are allowed to work full time (not before applying for PGWP). PGWP takes about 3-4 months before you get it.

About one month to the end of your program, you start applying for jobs in your industry. Apply to jobs in your city, province, outside your city and outside your province. I can assure you, you will get a job before your PGWP comes out (infact, within 2 months of graduating from your program tops). This saves you paying $14,000-16,000 for another PGC.

One Indian girl finished her PGC program in London, Ontario August, she got a job in September in Winnipeg. She had to move from London to Winnipeg. She spent 1 month on the job, she got bored and kept applying for jobs and got another job in Ottawa paying her $23/hr.

According to her, she sent out over 50 applications, went for 7 interviews and got 3 job offers from August till date. The money is small, applying for over 50 jobs can be stressful but if you ask me, the stress is worth it, if it saves you paying another college money.

You should only go for a second program if you have the money and it is absolutely necessary. You will get a job on completion of your first program if you have a good result, willing to move around Canada and attend a good college.

Before I forget, if you decide to go for a 1 year PGC or 2 year PGD, if your program has a co-op option, you should choose it. An opportunity to get work experience before graduating is always a bonus. While doing co-op, the company may retain you or you can network from there.

I wish you all the best.

Modified

8 months PGC gets you 1 year PGWP

I just checked my email and noticed it took my school 3 weeks to send me program completion letter. On the program completion letter, it states 1 year as program duration even though the program was for 8 months

Apply for SOWP and she will get it. I know 3 people that applied for visiting visas for their spouses and were all denied until they applied for SOWP. One of them, a regular on this forum, arrived Toronto 2 weeks ago on SOWP.

Make sure you show transcripts from your school, tuition fee receipt, evidence of a suitable accommodation for her stay when she arrives and of course, a good SOA and so forth.

Let's stop deceiving ourselves.
@frank If you like write letter of explanation to letter introduction to sound SOP. They will still deny. How many of the people you have advised to repackage and reapply that have gotten approval. My candid advice to fellow Nigerians, let's take a chill from study permit for now. If you like pay full year tuition, show all the millions, they are not giving. We have seen first class graduates been denied here. We have seen near perfect applications that are far better than mine, yet they come up with their generic refusal reasons. Some they just return the application without reason for denial. You have to mail them and then they will copy any r refusal letter on their screen and paste for you. Its ridiculous. Let's stop wasting our application fees.
Thanks.

Infact, all the guys and girls I roll with (about 7 of them), that we graduated together in August have all gotten jobs. And I mean every one of them. The ones in london Ontario are getting paid between $16-18 for full time entry level jobs and they are still waiting for PGWP. I must be honest, the money they are paid is very very small but getting PR and the Canadian work experience is the first priority.

Thank you @JustMellow

From ur explanation, two years post graduate diploma is better but we are just looking at the possibility that a 2year diploma course will require a higher POF, compared to a year certificate program. For instance, POF of 6m maybe fair enough to d VIO for a year program, compared to using that same fund for a 2 year diploma course.

But if fortunately, she was given a year visa for her 1 year certificate course, can she quickly apply for another course within that 4month that is left after completing d certificate course she came for?

Thank you
The same money you will show for 1 year PGC is more than enough to show for 2 years PGD visa once the SOA has good cash flow.

Yes you can get a second program in the same college or another college within the months left on your visa but the best option is to always apply early even before the current program ends. Infact, for competitive programs, your school will most likely tell you to apply months in advance, don’t leave it till when you are done with your program.

... Yes on Saturday I leaked a vital information which we don't let out to the public but you counter it....

Who are the "we"? grin you be visa officer? lol

"...IRCC have a list of universities in Nigeria which they give preference for study permit..."

Do you have proofs to this or you came about this conclusion just because you happen to know few people from federal universities that got their visas approved?

There are thousands of study permit applications to Canada from Nigeria and you cannot use the few people you know in real life or on Nairaland to make such conclusions.

Meanwhile, I did a little digging on you. You claim to be a first class graduate from a federal University in Nigeria working in a multinational company.
For someone that knows so much about Canada (you know the list of universities the visa officers have), I am shocked you are trying to process Germany student visa where you need blocked funds and not Canada where you can easily use 150,000 naira SOA to get study permit (according to you).

Anyways, I wish you all the best in your Germany study visa application.

IRCC requires an applicant to show a proof of fund up to about certain amount which could be less, equal or above the stated figures.
You need to read up on the above on CIC website.

Also, someone asked a question, Frank replied, instead of you to give your suggestion to the person who asked the question, you rather chose to attack Frank. You have been on attack mode since last week, I honestly don't know what you are on about.

While I appreciate the need to have more people contribute on this thread so that we look at this visa issue from different angles (and not just from the regular gurus perspective all the time) it is needless to start attacking people.
