Also check Snapdragon official site to see that the Snapdragon 660 cannot have a 48mp camera but Redmi note 7 is using

If people still stick to using Tecno phones despite knowing about other cheaper brands, you cannot fault them

We should criticise them but do it without false claims

yes... Windows 10..how can i stop that? I now allocate 300mb anytime I wana use the system and it doesn't last 15 minutes.. So i have stopped using it on system
**Updated**

There are two ways you can stop it.
Method 1 - make your WIFI connection a "metered connection", in your Settings when you click on a wireless connection you can set it to a metered connection.
Method 2 - this one is a little more involved, you will have to diasble the Windows Update service from performing updates automatically. Instead it would check for updates and ask if you want to install them.

Phones / Re: Huawei Y9 Prime, Redmi Note 8 Or Redmi 8 by naijasensei: 11:52am On Jun 07, 2020
sacredsaint:
I'm about to get a new device and I was certain of going for a Redmi device probably due to the Nairaland hype but redmi prices have skyrocketed since the pandemic more than other brands, probably due to the high demand. I need experts advice on which of the devices to go for putting the price into consideraton. I emphasize on speed(chipset), camera and battery performance.

If money is not an issue, the Huawei Y9 is slightly better than the Redmi note 8, the Redmi 8 is a distant third. The only (potential) downside to the Y9 is the likelihood of having issues in the future while installing Google apps and services. The Redmi note 8 on the other hand has more developer support (Bootloader unlocking, GCam, custom ROMs, and other customizations), and some users prefer MIUI to EMUI.

Did you share your hotspot with a Windows 10 device? That data usage might have been caused by automatic Windows Updates.

Instagram, data consumer, nothing new here. As for Whatsapp, make sure your phone is not automatically downloading people's Status updates and videos people post.

Go read about the Fallout of Micromax in the Indian Smartphone Market.
Before Xiaomi, Oppo etc. entered India, Micromax, and Lava were in control of the Indian market. Xiaomi's first year in India saw it in the league of the top 5 smartphone in India because their devices were cheaper and offers more for less. And Micromax, just like Transsion instead of upping their game what they did was endorsing Hollywood and India's celebrities 'upandan'.

Wow! You just reminded me of Micromax and Lava. Micromax was a huge brand in India some few years ago.

Well, I care a lot about reopening of the former thread. You don't seem to understand how much of a help the thread renders to the Xiaomi movement. No one would see an over-7000-page thread and not be tempted to open it. That's where the conversion begins.

The only thread that has more pages than the Xiaomi on the entire Nairaland is the Super Eagles thread.

Jboixxx that you quoted even suffered more from that thread deletion? How, you ask? Jboixxx put together a compilation thread of the very best nuggets that were dropped on the main thread, and most of the nuggets were linked to the main thread. Guess what? All those links disappeared when the main thread was initially deleted.
While the main thread was still invisible, Jboixxx created a new compilation thread where he was able to replace the missing links. Guess what? Our powerful mod dragged his net over the new compilation thread and locked it; no explanation, no warning, no reasonable reason. How would you feel if you spent several late nights trying to fix something someone else broke, and then just before you are done that same person destroys what you were working on?
I felt slighted when you typed that the mod was right with what he did, and you went ahead to beg him to reopen the old thread. First off, the old thread is gone, most of us here have moved on. Secondly, begging or pleading with those who have an imperial mindset is a wastage of time - it will only harden such a person. We know, most of us know we did no wrong so it would be pointless begging anyone - we have our pride intact, we are not beggars.

P.S. Do you want to know something truly funny? That thread had useful information for owners of all phone brands, information about purchasing things on the Google Play store, information about shipping items from abroad, and so many other educational tidbits. Do you know the amount of traffic that thread brought to nairaland? Guess who is losing?

Trolls are very predictable, they leave clues along even from the first post, they come with this saintly aura at first, they claim neutrality, then they form an activist-like scenario. Sadly we become totally engaged, and before we realize the manipulation, it becomes too late.

Well, we saw the signs but we ignored it, Let me leave you to this:
As the Russian playwright Anton Chekhov advised, “If there is a rifle hanging on the wall in act one, it must be fired in the next act. Otherwise it has no business being there.”

That quote is laden with meaning, and it is also very apt. It is very annoying when you think you are having an intellectual discourse, only to realise too late that you are conversing with a professional troll. We just have to be more observant.
Let me copy you in closing. A famous saying of Nigerian actor, Pete Edochie, goes thus - "Once a handshake extends beyond the elbow, it is no longer a handshake, it has become something else."

And to the Xiaomi peeps, let's talk less of transsion products as this thread is for Xiaomi devices. The less we talked about it, the better we get.

sajmark:

this is just what we need right now, the blocked Xiaomi thread got to 7000+ pages and was a thing of envy because initially we didn't send any other phone brand, you don't tell a blind man that it is raining!!!

While I agree with both of you, unfortunately things will never go back to how they were. Some trolls are beyond redemption, no matter how much you talk to them or reason with them. You are wrongly assuming that such people are responsible, and have a conscience. They have seared their conscience with a hot iron, so that they can sleep well at night. Engaging such people only emboldens them.
Imagine a grown man lurking on a thread with the sole intent of misinforming and misdirecting users genuinely searching for information. The unfortunate soul doesn't contribute anything useful to the thread, but chaos and distraction. One thing is sure though, there will always be a time of harvest. You cannot plant bitterleaf and expect to harvest oranges, if you prepare "anyhow" beans you will eat it yourself.

It's using either Bluetooth or 2.4Ghz wireless. Confirm before you purchase a replacement. If you can get the model of your gamepad, you can run it through a Google search to know what type of wireless connection it is using.

lol don't be ignorant.. Both are clocked at 12nm so what's the difference.. Lol all of you are attacking me but I don't care he can start a blog

Let me school your ignorant behind a little, just a little. You see, what you typed up there doesn't make any sense. Why? Bring out your notepad to take notes, let me school you a bit.
When you talk of something being clocked, then you are referring to frequency - cycles per second - which is measured in Hertz (Hz). Therefore saying an SoC is clocked at 12nm is erroneous everyday of the week and twice on Sundays.
So what is that 12nm referring to you ask. For starters 12nm, twelve (12) nano metres, is a measure of length - so nothing can be clocked at a measure of length. The 12nm is referring to the fabrication process for the SoCs. Older SoCs were produced on 28nm processes, but newer SoCs are produced on 16nm, 12nm, 7nm, and very soon 5nm processes.
Did you get that, have you written it down? Good, because the lesson is over. Before I leave you I will drop a quote for you. "He who knows not and knows not that he knows not is a fool, abandon him. He that knows not and knows that he knows not is a child, teach him."

Wow, after seeing dragnet's weak retort on the closed thread - after several days of silence, I can understand why several threads have been opened to drag him. It won't retail at that price. Most rumours on Xiaomi pricing by blogs are 99% found out to be a miss. They rumoured the CN Version of the Redmi Note 8 to cost $170 for the base model but Xiaomi released it at $140 and they maintained that same price for the Chinese version of Redmi Note 9 called Redmi 10X 4G. If someone wants to save bucks and don't mind the band's that will be missing and is interested in the RN9 get the Chinese Redmi 10x 4G with global ROM flashed on.

Also Xiaomi prices phones per region, Nigeria prices are cheaper than European pricing.

your post deserves a kudos. Its time we break out of fanboyism and force all these brands to behave. To start with, this issue of mediatek dis, mediatek dat shows how tech-illiterate we are. True mediatek bleeped up in d past, but dey've been dishing out nice chipsets recently. The fact that xiaomi has started using dis chipsets does nt mean they've started milking users. Its nt abt using mediatek, but using quality ones. D reason transsion has been hated is bcux dey sell outdated chipsets at ridiculous prices. The g70 is a nice chipset but at 200 dollars i think its a little overpriced. The redmi 9 is supposed to be a budget device so its not supposed to be priced over $150 but if it truly retails for $200 den its overpriced.

Now this is a post from a sensible user who knows his onions, free of sentiments and packing a punch. Even before the arrival of Mediatek's Helio G series, Mediatek fixed some of their past issues with the Helio P series (P23, P35, P60, P70, etc). So it is rather puzzling that an educated illiterate will label all Mediatek SoCs as trash. The Helio G70 that those marketers are shouting up and down about has been used by Realme in their brilliant Realme C3 budget phone, a phone that is way cheaper and has a better build than the often hyped "flagship" Infinix Note 7. As the popular saying goes, "empty barrels make the loudest noise", also there is nothing worse than an educated illiterate.

You can't just compare Infinix with Xiaomi or Mi as some call it.

Infinix is the best in market today when it comes to
1. Availability Carlcare.
2. Durability Carlcare again.
3. Camera Another Carlcare.
4. Fastness Still Carlcare.
5. Easy to repair if accidentally injured. This one got me laughing. cheesy grin
6. Second hand value wait for it, Carlcare.
7. Packaging beauty
Too many Carlcare to be mentioned

Just look at how the marketer you quoted is embarrassing himself/herself, how can a phone get injured for crying out loud? You can spot a half-baked marketer from his/her incoherent post. Again I ask, is this the best transsion's marketing department can come up with? I am not impressed. Dear marketers, your department head is watching, your jobs are very much at stake.

If I were a senior transsion executive reading this thread - I would be terribly ashamed. Is this what we pay our marketers for - incoherence, lack of proper research, no facts, hanging on unverified information, cluelessness, lack of tact, and a host of other disgusting traits. How dare you compare a flagship product (Infinix note 7) with a budget offering from another competitor, what insolence, what an utter lack of class. Are these the people transsion are spending a humongous marketing budget on, really? Even a bunch of trained illiterates can surely do way better than this, geez.
I would have had the whole lot of them demoted to probationary status, they would have to justify their wages for this level of incompetence.
