I bet Nigerians in Cote D'Ivoire go back to Nigeria with UK accents ![]() |
I'm pretty sure that happens quite often. |

It's just a case of ignorance. As far as I know, the Nigerian aviation players are incompetent. HOWEVER, this does very little to warrant international routing, to avoid Nigerian airlines. That's like me traveling to Mexico from Boston, then routing to Chicago. The US has the highest occurrences of fatal plane crashes in the world. Followed by Russia and Canada. By this logic, we should all avoid local flights, and route through other countries. Considering Nigerians love to show off, I wouldn't be surprised if people who do it are more concerned about "bragging rights." |
I think It's about time they rename this site Nairaland Blog. ![]() |
I don't think there is an increase in abuse in Nigeria. It's just another case of the internet media age shining more light on existing problems. Same deal as police brutality against minorities over here. It's always been the case, but smartphones and the internet have changed the game. |
I'll need to see the back view to have any opinion ![]() |
They don't look half bad though. ![]() |
J.T I remember some TV show when I was a kid. I think it was called "Fortune" or "Fortunes." That's what introduced most to he and Ramsey Noah, I believe. |

Cool. As far as I know though, the average Nigerian, particularly in Nigeria does not listen to Bono's music. |
Too late. |
I've sent hundreds of packages to Nigeria, and as far as I can tell, marking the package as "personal" does not dissuade any custom charges. Also, they don't go by the value indicated on the label. They usually attempt to get "fair market value" of the item and bill according to that. While they take advantage of this to over-bill, the problem here isn't a case of "fraud" per se. It is just a need for complete institutional overhaul. Contact the media person above, and perhaps when enough people put out their displeasure with the arbitrary billing practices, something might be done. |

Stallion? That would be a mighty awkward adjective to qualify her with. |

As Ralphlauren mentioned, you are taxed on your world income, as an American citizen. If you imagine your child would want to live in the US in the future, then it might be worth it. Otherwise, maybe not. It's a gift and a curse, of sorts. I have to pay taxes on any business income I receive from Nigeria. Double taxation sucks hard. Even if I relocate to Nigeria, Uncle Sam still gets his cut yearly. That said, my take is this. If the cost will put significant financial stress on your family, then avoid it. If you feel you can swing it, then go for it. Worst case scenario, s/he can always renounce American citizenship in the future, if s/he does not live here, and it proves to be a financial burden (taxes). Good luck! |
