oreos: We have the law but they are not enforced. I think that is what should be our focus. We should ensure effective enforcement of the law and immediate access to the justice system. The first step is to report officially. The victim should make it public (with a copy of the official report) and seek immediate assistance from civil organisations. At this point, fellow students could help to provide necessary support in terms of protection, coming out (those who have been victims), victimisation of the accuser or his/her supporters (if they tried to subdue the victim or unduly influence the outcome) and peaceful protests across the city.
oreos: If she is a Nigerian and a student, she would know why she sounded so stupid. The accused is not just a lecturer, he is a professor. He is a lawyer. Our academic institutions do not take sexual harassment reports seriously not to mention rape. Our justice system is useless. And of all solutions she could proffered, she asked whether they couldn't have changed their course. She also went ahead to doubt their attitude towards the act itself.
I understand where you're coming from. However, if you think the best response is to simply sit down and take it as it is, then that's where the problem lies.
The students need to come together and agitate in any manner they deem fit. What is your prescribed solution to the problem of sexual harrasment in Nigerian institutions?
Anytime i see at Jim Iyke's pictures on the internet, i see the face of a man that can only shoot blank bullets. I don't see him getting anybody pregnant soon. The full story will soon come out.
Is this an actual comment, or a heavily veiled joke?
There is nothing the government can or will do about it. Nigeria does not have a private sector minimum wage law. Even in the public sector where minimum wage exists, they have pegged it at N18,000. EIGHTEEN-FVKING-THOUSAND.
If they deem 18,000 sufficient, I wonder what they will say to someone complaining about 20,000.
Same shitt different toilet. 18k minimum wage vs the tens of millions paid to Law makers etc. Same as the scenario being complained about.
That's like reporting an armed robber to Boko Haram.

FYI, the average graduating age of a PhD in the US and UK is 33.
It's one thing to stand on a hoverboard for a photo-op, and another to balance a tray full of pounded yam & egusi while zipping down the restaurant hall.
This guy Vic O is one hilarious joker. Following the Drake and Meek Mill beef, the legendary Vic O (only rivaled in hip hop by Speedy Darlington and Bangz) decided to diss Drake and Meek in his video titled "RIP Drake & Meek." Or as he would put it, "Drek and Mek." Dude needs a career in comedy.
