Optional2:If you did not see the bald plot of land that once housed his tree, then your story is equally invalid. How come stories like this are never reported in first-person? It's always some third-person tale. My neighbor's brother's friend, or my sister's boyfriend's uncle. |
If anyone feels the need to donate to the Gofundme Campaign referenced in the article, here is a link to it below. Race to Save Majek Fashek |
Mr. Fashek. Hopefully he can salvage what's left of his life. |

The report states "teenage girls," then goes on to state ages between 4 and 7. Is that the definition of teenage in Northern Nigeria? ![]() |

mchew! I have been there. I strolled around, and there was nobody, so i came back to earth 1.0. |
Gandoki used to be my favorite Nigerian stand-up comic. |
I wonder when people will stop being concerned what someone else does with their income. If he feels a need to withdraw his last penny and bet it on a chicken fight, that should be his concern. It's not as though if he went broke today, any of those "concerned fans" would be "concerned" about him the next day. |
I believe a workable course of action would be to: 1. Identify AND list very specific possible accomodations she'll need. i.e who takes her to the airport, assists her checking in, boarding etc. 2. Identify what specific health concerns there might be. 3. Narrow down flights/airlines that suit your timing and budget requirements. 4. With your lists from 1 & 2 in hand, call the airlines and determine which ones best cater to the special accomodations (health, language etc). 5. Call the port of entry to get advice about elderly visitors with language barriers, specifically with Customs/Immigration clearance and luggage retrieval. 6. If she knows how to use a cell phone, send her a cheap $10 prepaid phone with money on it, and your numbers, so she can power it on and call you once she is cleared. 7. Pick her up. Good luck! |
Simple DNA test should resolve the paternity aspect. However, the friendship and marriage are pretty much a lost battle. |
fajigirl:I suggest an 0rgy party ![]() I kid, I kid! To avert possible death by awkwardness overdose, y'all might want to meet up somewhere with an engaging activity. A bowling alley, an outdoor park where y'all can play catch, frisbees or something along those lines, while you get acquainted. Nothing too competitive though, before una start dey fight .A simple board game might suffice. Whatever you do, do not restrict it to some dreary restaurant or similar spot. Except of course death by awkwardness overdose appeals to you. Have fun! |
Reminds me of my grandfather. ![]() |
Is this common in Eastern Nigeria, or it's just coincidence that this specific scenario is reported from there often? |
That's one funny name though. |

RichDad1:Did you even look at the post? |
VickyRotex:Doesn't look like it was done to trend. Looks more like a stubborn kid on a leash. Most such kids are put on leashes here, so they don't wander off. Except the leash is made like a backpack, to appear more "humane." Few examples. https://ak-hdl.buzzfed.com/static/enhanced/webdr03/2013/5/5/1/enhanced-buzz-2480-1367732030-3.jpg . https://ak-hdl.buzzfed.com/static/enhanced/webdr02/2013/5/5/0/enhanced-buzz-32458-1367729541-17.jpg |

Messilistic:Maybe I'm misreading it, but I was going off the bold part of your comment below: the 6 month thing is not true. It only applies when your passport has been stamped on entry. You are only allowed a maximum of 6 months to be in the US. Mine was issued october last year and I only made use of it last week. I dint have the need to either, I jst had to cos every one kept telling me I wont hav chances of getting visas again if it is not used at least once. |
Vicjustice:Ah, I see! |
Messilistic:What was the motivation to get the visa in the first place, if you had no need for it? |
Vicjustice, did you attend a show at the Moulin Rouge? |

Criticism is perhaps the easiest thing in the world to do. As Jay Z put it, "everyone can tell you how to do it, but they never did it." |
Moana: 25omega:I'll give you two the benefit of the doubt that you didn't comprehend the sentence. Actually, when I first typed it, I wrote "Shots of, and around the Eifel Tower, Big Ben (London), Lady Liberty (New York) and such...." However, on second thoughts, I felt specifying locations of landmarks (which are pretty much universal knowledge) was a little patronizing to the OP I responded to. Particularly since I know he is well traveled as well. That said, the sentence only meant the Eifel tower "and such" other landmarks (worldwide - Big Ben, Lady Liberty etc) result in generic photography. The goal was to get him to take images of less popular parts of the city. Considering I live really close to New York City, and spend a lot of weekends there, it would be insanity to not know where Lady Liberty lived. On a lighter note, since Lady Liberty was sculpted in France, shipped and gifted to us by France, technically she is from France ![]() |
Nice shots. However, if you have the time, take some less touristy ones. Less obvious parts of town would be a good place to start. Shots of, and around the Eifel Tower, Big Ben, Lady Liberty and such are a little too generic. Most importantly though, have fun. |
