When i see stuff like this, i can't help but feel deeply sorry for Nigeria as a nation. How on earth does a government justify such extreme misuse of public funds? We all know no more than 10% of those funds will go into the actual project. That is 3.38 billion naira (which is still a massive waste of funds). These are the same people who claim their states can not afford to pay decent wages etc. These are the people who pay full grown adults N25,000 a month and still owe them for months. To put this budget into perspective, If 5,000 Bayelsa state workers are paid N100k a month, it would cover their salaries without a late payment for 5 years and 7 months. But NOOOOOO, that would be a waste of funds i guess. How exactly does a palatial state house benefit the people of the state?... IT DOESN'T. These fools aren't concerned about having the best public education system and facilities.. Nooooo. The best health care system and facilities... Nooot at alll.. How about the best roads, or perhaps an effective power grid?.... of course not. |

"They build you up to break you down, it's just like tetris mann." - Fabolous. |
Nigeria does not need to have a foreign coach . Keshi or Siasia will do just fine. |
partisan bickering is counterproductive. politicians need to make moves to fix Nigeria, or SHUT DA EFF UP! |
samuel25:Have you ever heard the term "serial enttepreneur"? This highlights the fact that entrepreneurship inherently leaves a trail of failed ventures. There is not one succesful entrepreneur today who has not failed at business. The fact that your business hit the rocks, and you quit does not invalidate entrepreneurship. It only invalidates you as an entrepreneur. Real entrepreneurs at heart count their losses, and move on to the next project. |
fpeter:What does it matter what he does? He has given lost people advise. It is left for them to apply it to their lives... or not. |
iceberylin:This link is for an ad displayed on the homepage. It is a site called kitchen.com.ng I saw it yesterday, and clicked through it. It is a well made site which allows people order food online to be delivered to their offices, homes etc in Nigeria. Among its food offerings, is MOI MOI. That is the FREAKIN point of the OP's thread. It is all about packaging. While the illiterate would typically set up shup at a dirty bus stop, the more enlightened/educated one would create a premium service to deliver this same meal in a hygienic and respectable manner. Dangote would feel some type of way to stop at the grimy bus stop for moi moi, even if he craves it. However, he would not have a problem ordering moi moi from that website, on his lunch break at the office. Guy, catch head. All na packaging. |
Na nollywood movie? ....."Coming soon" |
Gepheral: He says, “Many Nigerian actors live on their past glory. The truth is that many of us (actors) don’t make money from film-making or movies any longer. There is the show part, but there is actually no business side to Nollywood any longer. |

The OP has presented a poor delivery of his point. The key point the OP attempts to deliver is this: Prioritize your time and resources as it relates to knowledge acquisition. That is a very valid point. HOWEVER, the notion that any information, skill, knowledge etc obtained can be 100% identified as useless is only valid to a shallow thinker. The busy lawyer who took the time on some weekend 5 years ago to learn to bake the meanest chocolate fudge cake, might eventually have this "irrelevant" skill be responsible for a "lady-friend" falling in love with him. Of all things- not his cash, not his booming law practice, but his simplicity and finesse in the craft of fudge cake baking ![]() Consequently, --> marriage --> kids etc. all a direct result of one weekend of "irrelevant knowledge" In life, it's the little things that count. |
BankoleNcoLike you, i will be turning 30 next year (end of 2015). I'm 28 now, but sometimes the same thought crosses my mind. However, there is nothing wrong with that. Humans have a tendency to resist change, but change is not an option. Sometimes like you, i wonder if i had spent too much time working my 9-5 and building my own company, at the expense of "life?" Then again, i ask myself- what exactly is there left to do in the spirit of "youthful exuberance?" I've done it all. Could it be i'm just being greedy by wishing i had, and would do more? As far as clubbing. I almost never go to a regular club anymore. I graduated from regular clubs to lounges years ago. I was all over the clubs back then. At times at like 10pm, we would decide to drive 3 hours to New York, just because we had a good "remember that time" gist about some club out there. Or we would randomly drive like 6 hours to Montreal in Canada to party it up, and drive back to the US in the morning. It is all a frame of mind. Reorganize the things in your life. If your 9-5 is weighing you down, make the right financial/investment moves, and cut it off like i did. Do not worry about marriage, it will happen when it happens. Ignore external influence of such things, and live life on your own terms - it is no one else's. I created this nairaland username and site last year specifically as therapy for myself. I needed to indulge more in the simpler things in life like.. laughing. Life is too darn short ya know. |
WOW!! How dumb can people be? How da heck does a petition from ONE person result in this title? "Linda Ikeji's Blog to Be Closed Down By Google." Did Google contact you to inform you of their decision to close down the blog? The chance of it happening in this case is = ZERO. I don't visit her blog, and i don't care if or not it exists. However, your thread should be moved to the Bullshit section. |
Also watch out for this head, which will simultaneously rise in the south bringing about a total triangulation eclipse. Eclipse threes0me .
